We went back to Sand Hollow Oct 2022. I laid my truck over in the first hr in Milts Mile trail. No big deal get it back on the tires and sent it for the rest of the day.
Holley Sniper setup and wiring on a 22R

I go through all wiring connections and the initial setup of your Holley sniper system. Answering most of your questions on wiring, setup and if I still like the system.
Well that didn't go as planned!

Rock crawling in Parker, AZ on the duke trail I rolled my Toyota pickup. But it doesn't stop us we keep on going the rest of the day and wheeled the twister trail also. We ended the day at the desert bar which is pretty cool for being in the middle of nowhere.

We start off the day wheeling 3 slabs, dutchess, and then we hit adventure canyon and that when everything starts to come apart. We had a lower ball joint fail and it took out the axle shaft and then my Toyota shears the knuckle studs off.

We start off our trip good on Day 1 rock crawling Rio Lobo, Presidents Choice, and Trumans Revenge. The wheeling down here is very tight and has very sharp rocks so watch your tires or suffer deep cuts!

Do you need a body lift to fit the 5 speed i was told its too tall and you have to hammer up the transmission tunnel or get a body lift to have it fit
That is why I buy my battery for the warranty at autozone or similar big box part start I know their warranty policy like the back of my hand I can replace my battery as many times as I want in that 3 year warranty
I'm just about to pickup a 93 4runner from a family member, definitely waiting on the next part to this. Also pumped you're trying to keep that 3.0 going, I'm taking the same approach. Alot of people still have loads of miles on these 3.0's, it can't be all bad!!
I agree with your assessment that Optima batteries have lost much of their dependability and quality. One brand of AGM battery that I find very impressive is Full Throttle Battery.
Any charger that's "LifePo" rated will work with AGM batts.
Does it make a rattling noise while driving
better than DOA die hard
i do believe that odessy and optima are both under the same ownership
Nope, optima is Johnson control, odyssey is enersys
@Joes-Adventures71 so Odessa is better in that case???
Lol
Great review. Thanks.
just came back to this video... I will never NOT get a deep cycle battery.
Odyssey may be a decent battery but their warranty is not worth a shit ! Have one for a year and a half and they’re saying the battery is OVER DISCHARGED so they will NOT Replace it. I think it’s BS ! If you buy a battery anywhere that has a warranty and the battery goes bad, the place you bought it will replace it with no questions asked. I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER ODYSSEY BATTERY !! Odyssey company is a JOKE !!
Yeah, and I've noticed the current ratio is different.I don't think I get very much current.I've been maintaining my optimistic batteries for a long time. With a maintainer charger plugging wall setup
Doing one on my 83 stoker now. I didn't see any links for the throttle cable you wound up going with. How is it working out? I need to address that now.
is it ok to use topdon tornado 90000 smart charger??
Funny thing is I bought an Odyssey and it died in just over 3 years. Replaced it with Optima and guess what…3 years dead.Bought a Deka battery, standard wet cell, at less than half the price, it been 5 years and going strong. Will never buy Optima or Odyssey batteries again.
Good job dad!! 🫶🏻
I wish I knew a shop that could do that to my 87 Toyota pickup .. in the Tyler, TX. Area
You forgot...First thing to do-drink your Monster energy🤙 great video!
i love accidently flipping the wipers makes everything so much more chaotic 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
i have a question; im about to swap a 1uz engine in my 1982 toyota pickup but i want to swap the trannsmission with an automatic one. wich transmission do you guys recomend
the auto trans for the 1uz
Where did you put the brown tachometer wire to? You said that it Has to be hooked up for it to run But where does it go?
rad truck man! how are those 4" lift leafs? im looking for something smoother
If the ball bearing do dump out, you can indeed get them back in. It takes a tub of tacky grease and about a hour of patience. Also to clean metal shavings out a good strong magnet or 2 placed inside while spraying out the box will catch all that remains.
Have you sold the truck yet?
No
lmao, funny video. Informative, didnt realize Optima moved to Mexico, too bad. Loved those batts, now its onto Odessey. Thanks
you guys are missing it. theres an entire other group out there thatll try anything. overlanding-rock crawling-mudders. they run tons and 35-40s, double lockers, often full size, usually run long travel leafs but links are getting popular. theyll drive it across Montana through the mountains elk hunting one week then haul ass for Moab the next. then go snow wheel Idaho on thier way to run the Rubicon., NO TRAILERS guys like Dave Chapelle from Dirt Everyday and Steve Watson from offroad design. Just take a look at pretty much any year of Ultimate Adventure and you see what I mean.
Useless content 😂
Are you still wheeling this? I saw a vid of you rolling it and haven't seen another post since. I'm planning a build on an 83 and would love to hear what, if anything, you would change on your building had you done it over today? TIA
I am just broke last year and have been going through a divorce so I haven’t had time and money to fix it
@@wreakhavocoff-road7163 sorry to hear that!!! What if anything would you change if doing it over again?
Honestly nothing I would have went exo cage right off the bat but it suits my wheeling style better
Just buy a jeep 👌
Looking at odyssey now. 2 years later do you still recommend them from the time you made this video?
Yes 💯
My odyssey left me stranded on account of the running board lights when my truck doors are open. They eventually go off maybe 20 minuets. yet it still Just drained it, 5 years old. Just my experience.
i see a lot of money there so why do you still have a square front drive shaft
Hi there, I’m rebuilding my engine and gonna do the holly efi on my 85 Toyota do you have to have a thermostat if I’m doing the delete kit like what you did
If I remember right your truck is an 83? Where the he'll did ya get that front bumper? I cannot find one anywhere.
It’s from an 86 but the front end has an adapter welded in to accept it
Great video and information, don't you have to have a higher charging voltage to charge a AGM battery, I thought it was suppose to be 14.5 to 14.8 volts? What is your opinion on Pulsetech battery chargers and PowerPulse passive desulfators? I have a PowerPulse on my 2001 BMW battery for the past three years. Pulsetech claims that their patented frequency they use to desulfate a battery can extend your battery life up to three times longer.
I put the same settings on the holley in my 22r but for some reason i cant get it to run past 60mph. Its as if it loses power on 4th and 5th gears. Any ideas? This carb has got me stumped.
Will a 1990s axle bolt on my 1986 Toyota 4wd. Im thinking about swapping fot for a better brake performance.
I had an Optima Battery for my 4Runner. It was overpriced crap that lasted maybe 2 years. I replaced with an Odyssey and 5 years later it still works. That's not bad considering I live in the Phoenix Area. 100+ degree temps for half the year.
Living on the edge with the OG jackstands? Lol
Whenever I make half doors I always use a piece of cardboard for a template for my door panels. Cheap and I dont waste material
Is all w56 transmission rebuild kits the same??
My dad’s 65 chevelle has a optima red top that’s well over 20 years old and continues to baffle us on how good it is. But a couple years ago I got a yellow top for my off-road rig and had that disconnect problem you were talking about. Had no idea they moved manufacturing to Mexico… won’t buy or recommend one again until they bring back their old quality!
Ok it's really hit and miss with them some are fuckin impossible to kill. I have one that is over 5 years old and it's been banging 4000 watts of stereo equipment its entire life. The prior one leaked and bubbled over so they aren't all shit. I do maintenance on the battery with the centech charger and it's definitely helping it last longer.
That's not worth 20 gs 😂😂
Not to sell but in parts you better start recalculating
Do you know what years trucks had the W56? Having a hard time finding one.
Nice !!! is that sniper California pass? ( F-en california crap ) , I'm in Ca and need to find a EFI solution
I’m not sure you’d have to call Holley
Great job man, I like your straight forward opinion on the subject of batteries. I have a 3rd gen 4Runner and currently looking for good battery for it. Thanks.
why you do all this work yourself then have an exhaust shop make you a exhaust?
I just purchased a W 56 - b transmission from marlin crawler. What did you look up to by the clutch and fly wheel or what size is the clutch needed for the W 56 - b
