    I really think the best modern metal albums from old bands are senjutsu and invicible shield. Senjutsu is definetely one of my IM's favorite album with Seventh son and Iron maiden, I really love the ambiance they created within this one. It's also probably the best album they made since Fear of the dark. For Ozzy, I wouldn't call his albums as bad, it's not the same quality as his firsts but definetely not bad. But it's not metal anymore, just rock. Metallica and Megadeth made ok album, it's good trash, but without the soul they putted inside before, which is kinda sad

    I mostly LOVED Senjutsu, but I agree they need a producer with the balls to say "NO STEVE" instead of a yes man. How to make Senjutsu great? (my opinion): 1-.Get rid of Lost in a Lost World, is mostly recycled riffs (the main riff is identical to the solos section riff on Paschendale) and is 9:30 minutes long! 2.-I love Death of the Celts but there's a riff that repeats itelf in the middle a little too much, cut it down a little. 3.-Hell on Earth's intro is way too long. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE long intros, but for example the Dance of Death's intro is almost a song on its own, it PROGRESSES AND ESCALATES, while the Hell on Earth intro is just 2 minutes of almost the same. The rest of the song is outstanding. The rest of the album is perfect. It could have been a 10, but it's an 8 for me, maybe even 8.5.

      Completely agree on a lot of these, they need a producer who will properly produce them rather than just let them do whatever they want to do

    Good video, I really gotta check some of the new stuff from many of this bands. I think the collab between Ozzy and Post Malone in Take What You Want was really good, but I don't know if you're referring to that one, the 'Raid' one, or both lol

    Hey Riperoo, it's me SchokoDami from Album of the year. I like your reviews and the taste and expertise you have! Do you mind making a video or list on album of the year about the best Traditional Heavy Metal Albums? And also with respect to modern traditional Heavy Metal bands? Like Eternal Champion for example. I would LOVE to see such a video or list on AOTY to listen through the list and perhaps find some gems with a great sound. Also by the way, I just saw Saxon live this sunday! They were pretty great despite being quite old. Great stuff!

      I do plan on doing a video on this genre (more like a series considering how many good bands they are), but I went through a long time of wondering if I should include bands I'm friends with or not, and it just delayed me making it. I already have a video planned but after that I wouldn't be suprised if I do the first video on that topic Thanks as always for the support!

    Senjutsu is a top 5 Maiden album for me, maybe top 3. Every song is fantastic, with the last two tracks being two of the best songs in Maiden’s career.

    I agree with some songs blending specially in the last third of the album, but if I listen them individually they are all great. I think is fine they released a more relaxed album focusing on the vibe after two years of complex releases. If they explore this style again I wish they do it following more the Fishing for fishies structure, where songs are more unique and the album feels more like a journey.

    This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think the six album post-reunion run that Maiden is currently on is pretty damn good. In my opinion, Brave New World, A Matter of Life and Death, and Senjutsu are all masterpieces, and Dance of Death is very nearly one. The Final Frontier is criminally underrated. For me, The Book of Souls is the weakest of the bunch (thanks to a couple of forgettable tracks that feel like filler). But my god are there also some bangers on that record! The Red and the Black is on of my all-time favorite Maiden songs.

    Iron maiden and helloween are clearly the best for me now and my favorite too, both albums are great, especially helloween (even tho i prefer maiden a lot better), now except for the albums their performances right now are PHENOMENAL for their ages, Dickinson being at the age of 66 and his voices is somehow still the same and even better in some songs even tho he had cancer once in his throat too and the rest if the band proceeds to follow up perfectly without losing their skill and what can i even say about Nick mcbrain who is almost 73 playing the drums even tho he recently had a stroke, now about helloween oh boy oh boyyy, Michael kiske's voice is somehow still high note without losing a single note while singing! He can even hit higher notes in some songs and note that he never had a singing lesson, kai hansen too proceeds to still have a great voice for his songs and same goes for deris, weikath still plays his songs perfectly and same for Markus on the bass he's incredible, and dani loble on the drums woohoo he's great, and sasha is too, Helloween live performances right now are the BEST of all no argument, i forgot to talk about judas priest with also being so good right now live with harfold being 73 (or 75 i dont remember) and he still proceeds to pull songs like painkiller, great bands but helloween takes the throne with iron maiden easily

    Dream Theater would have done way better if they had continue in the way that Falling Into Infinity was taking them. It is not bad to try to design your music in a way that it gives you commercial success. They should have be more inspired by Rush's clever approach to catchy unique music. Instead they have chosen the route of doing the same thing over and over again with 20+ songs. Rush were so clever as to be satisfied with their early heavy prog era and tried different things yet remained true to their proggy core but with an accessible backbone. To me - Rush is the perfect and unrivaled band that merges Prog, Rock, and making complex music catchy and accessible. Nobody wants to dance to Dream Theater's music - sorry! It's just what it is (Maybe in rare exception).

    I would say that I'm an older and casual DT fan who loved the 90's albums. "Hell's Kitchen" is my favorite Dream Theater song. I love the PSMS and Sons of Apollo versions. I really hope Portnoy puts it in the setlist for the upcoming tour, but he might want to play something different after all these years away from DT. So glad Portnoy is back with the band. Cheers.

    Long album-itis seems to come for a lot of bands that get so big they don't have to listen to anyone. Look at Tool. Fear Inoculum could have been good if it were 30% shorter. I'm here for long songs. But you need to have real ideas, not just "lets give all three guys a solo" nonsense like Maiden did. As for a winner, Road by Alice Cooper is good. I don't love his music in general, but this was his best work in 50 years. There's a crazy sentence. He knows what his limitations are and lets his guitar players (especially Nita Strauss) do a lot of the work to make it feel modern.

    I actually love this album. It's a shame it represents such a low point in their career. Demonstrates just how talented they are as songwriters, that they can write more 'commercial' or accessible music as well as they do the heavier, proggier stuff. But hey... it ultimately led to 6DoIT.. So silver linings and all that.

    I feel like all the KISS drummers get kind of overlooked. Eric Carr for sure but Peter Criss, Eric Singer, Anton Fig also. Doesn't feel like Criss gets much credit for some great drum parts in the early KISS catalog. Anton Fig did mostly session work with the band in the late 70s when Criss was having problems. Fig did Ace Frehley's acclaimed solo album and the drums on the Dynasty and Unmasked album. Eric Singer was great on Revenge and has obviously been in the Cat makeup touring with KISS for the last 20 years.

    • @gabedom_
      @gabedom_ หลายเดือนก่อน

      Paul and Gene didn't give their drummers enough respect. Peter was a very 70s drummer (and the best singer in KISS, imo), but the 80s were fast approaching and he couldn't play double bass, the music was less swing and more metal, so he was out. Same happened with Ace, he got replaced by generic shredders. But yeah, all KISS drummers were taken for granted.

    Totally disagree on your assessment of "Hollow Years" I love that song I haven't listened to this album in many years but I don't have a bad memory of it. I liked the album in its day and probably still would if I revisited it. Peruvian Skies and New Millenium are the two songs I remember liking the most.
