Scintillating
You really need to invest in a sand blaster, maybe rent one ? God Bless you for saving a treasure, of moar history..
I have one. but need to get my bigger sandblaster up and running. It's pretty damp here this time of year so for now I'm just doing the big stuff with the frame and drive gear, I hope to blast in the spring.
Well ,that was brief . How about an update as you progress. Maybe 30 seconds or some such ?
The old boat did not make it into the water last summer, I had to build a trailer for it , the guy who gave it to me wanted the old one back. Also I still need to buy a water pump assembly, the previous owner ran it dry and it ate itself. I did the vid to send to a buddy of mine and only put it on TH-cam for a laugh. I will do an update next summer. May be 45 seconds
Omg, I remember scaling. I hated scaling.
Hard to beat *THAT* deal! Congrats!! 👍
Youve got a *great* base to start with. I think it's going to be a fun project. Thanks for the update!!! ❤
Late war Dodge WC...couldn't see the front end...but the winch is an M2 Braden..which is the right model for a 52..and I think the 55 had one too..glad you saved her...I'm rebuilding one too...
I just got the parts truck home today, Hopefully we can make something worthy out of whats there.
Right on! You have a good pile of parts there you should be able to build a WC. I restored a 1950 Power Wagon, well worth it!
I owned a M37 almost 20 years ago now, I had to sell in because of a move and have missed it ever since. The WC will fit into the family nicely and will be a keeper. Looking fwd to fishing trips into the mountains and putting the logging roads.
*GREAT* find, cool project. Should keep you busy for a few days, LOL! I'll be following your progress! ❤
The old truck came with another spare truck with a better frame and a few other bits and pieces. I think the plan will be to fabricate a command car "replica" around what is there. The old thing will never be a cream puff, but If we can save it from the crusher and give it a second life plus have some fun in doing it then I'm in
That is so freaking cool! Can't wait to see the progress.
@@nwpia Me either
YES!!
Nice!!
That is Brilliant... Right -On ... !!
Hi Brianne, I have not heard from you in a while. I hope you are doing well. All my best to you! 🙂
I'm still kicking. Hope you are doing well. TH-cam hasn't been notifying me of your videos in awhile. I will do a search and see what you have been up to.
Absolute genius!! Wile E. would be proud. 🤣 👍
Wile E. was my childhood hero
@@spurgear4 Still mine! Darn that Roadrunner!! LOL
@@kbjerke I would like a 440 road runner though
@@spurgear4 Beep! Beep!
Brilliant idea!!!
Awesome!
My father sold his maybe 10 years ago. Heard him say a couple times he should have kept it
My dad had a 1952 Ford 8N and I have some very special memories associated with that tractor itself. I always really enjoyed the sound of the engine and got to drive it so many times when I was in elementary school.
You know I really like it when you paint an 8N with the original grey and your hood looks very shiny it’s beautiful! I really like the crane you built it’s nice to be able to to fabricate things that make life easier! You did a great job and the tractor runs nice to!!
Why does your choke go back when you release it, the choke should always stay in position.
My Model a ford is the same way, other old rigs I have operate like you mentioned but the two old fords are the same.
@@spurgear4 ok , but the manual choke control is pull out and it stays there until you move it , someone for some reason put a spring on it , which isn't correct
Our 8N has the choke like this one. Ours has always returned when released
We have the same problem with too many projects. I told someone once I need a locomotive in my hangar. That way I could legitimately say I have planes, trains and automobiles!
Something about an old Piper
I love the old girl.
Love this!!! I might have to look for them next time I’m up that way… I could listen to that all day!
She’s a beauty!!!
I'm a Mopar kind of guy, loved them the most back in the late 60's and early 70's
I have had this since i was a teenager. It sat in my dads shop for over twenty years while I was in the airforce waiting for me. Probably going to have it until I kick off. Happy Holidays
Vroom, VROOM 👍
Great stuff👌
cool
From your other videos you like cars like me.
And airplanes
I love it the people who walk by should be paying more attention.
Sweet tractor! Anxiously awaiting updates on your Champ project!
I really need to do another video. Working four days a week on old float planes and trying to keep the house together so not as much time as I used to have. The Champ is coming along nicely though and Last week I bought a beautiful little piper vagabond.
@@spurgear4 You're an incredibly busy lady! And obviously very talented. I, too, found out that after I retired, I had very little "free" time! LOL Congrats on the Vagabond!
Nice project! I must subscribe so I won't miss your progress!
You rock
Yeah you do
I just stumbled across your channel and I have to say that was the coolest 31 seconds of my week. I thought it was an old tractor startup at first until I heard the prop. Yeah, I'm a Dumb A.. I had to google what an Aeronca was. This is so cool! I watched the other video about the rebuild/restore and I have so many questions. I'm guessing you are a pilot? Are you going to make more videos on the restore?
Hi, I will likely make more videos but pretty busy here lately trying to get the spring cleaning done. I got my pilots license in my twenty's but didn't fly much because of work and family. Now in my fifty's and figure its time to get things going again. I worked on heavy helicopter in the military for just over thirty years so have the ability but the money is a balancing act, aviation is expensive. Building a Peitenpol sky scout too but it got hung up in the basement until the Aeronca is done. Thanks for watching.
@@spurgear4 Wow that is awesome. Keep up the great work. I subscribe just in case you do start putting out more videos. My 6 year old daughter and I will be your biggest fans, lol.
@@nwpia Thanks. Say hi to her for me.
You are a beast! 👏👏👏
Getting there. How is the cub doing
@@spurgear4 the cub is doing great. Been flying it a lot on the slats I made and loving them
Love this! I came so close to buying a backyard Piper TriPacer and had the plans too for a Bowers Fly Baby when I was in Aircraft Tech school in Canada.
That's funny, I have a set of fly baby plans on the shelf. Maybe some day. Have a great evening
@@spurgear4 all the best on your build!
@@silvermanewj4366 thanks, have a great weekend
Wow I love your basement all really nice stuff such great projects!
Thanks, I'm trying my best to get some of the projects done, although I may have to pass some on to the next generation
Looks good!
Wow
Are you going to leave the green house glass covered with the metal? Can I suggest buying plexiglass or acrylic from a local hardware store and using your metal as a mold to heat form it to. 0.100-0.125 inch thick.
I was considering putting plexi on it again, it came with the window but it was pretty busted up so I figured I would bend up some sheet. I'm probably going to leave it aluminum though to cut down on the heat from the sun, and the 025 is actually lighter than the plexiglass it came with.
@@spurgear4 the small amount of weight is sure worth the views. And the heat isn't that bad.. unless you live in Arizona lol
@@Lickety-Split you have me reconsidering. I live on Vancouver island so not so hot really. I'm checking out smoked lexan next time I go to town
I always forget if its lexan or acrylic that is affected by fuel and avgas.. be sure to do your research
@@Lickety-Split I think lexan may craze in the sun. I'm going to have to do some research. I like lexan because it won't crack when drilling and can be bent in a sheet metal brake.
Would love to see the progress of the airplane.
I have been pretty busy, I will try and do an update if we get some nice weather soon
I bought a 1968 Bonny off the showroom floor in Toronto in 1969-70 for I think 1300 Cdn. I like looking into your garage. Thank you!
I wish mine was an earlier one with the oil tank but sometimes you take what you find. I was born in 65 so I always wanted a 65 just because.
@@spurgear4 I was born in `59 but a `59 ,first year T120 would cost huge money. Worse than that , they are now investment type things and you can`t enjoy them. I miss the `70s when you couldn`t give British bikes away at gunpoint in England. Even more I regret not keeping a garage full of them.
Hi! In 1972 I went to aviation mechanic college after a fluke meeting. Long story short, I got excited about flying and acquired a set of Bowers Fly Baby plans AND hopped into a Pietenpol passenger seat and flew joyously for only about a 1/2 an hour- but it was enough to get me hooked on ultralights. Saw your post and got reminiscing. I used to ride Triumphs. Bonnys mostly. God bless.
Triumphs and Nortons and airplanes, oh my!
I realy love those old aircrat things, building something similar was one of my childhood dreams.
Yes, You should clearly leave the bike with some of it's traces of history ! I absolute love those old bikes too!

Did you get this repaired yet? You could drill and tap for a nipple reduction back to your cage nut thread size. Possibly tapped for a male npt if it need to be sealed and reduced to a female standard female tread and restud it
Yes I glued the old nut back in with jb weld.
I've used JB to patch an overported 2 stroke engine rode that bad boy for YEARS. When you were filming on the bimmer I thought that root beer float was a Baja beetle... Then you turned around! Those are BOTH georgous!!!
Thanks, I have had the old Ford for years, the Mercury is a newer acquisition both run like tops though, I broke a casting off a bike carb once popping out a Welsh plug, it was a bad day, very carefully reinstalled it using the magic jb weld and it's still holding. Still bugs me though, it broke like cheap plastic.
@@spurgear4 sounds like a bad cast I just had my clutch cable bracket on my Z1000 literally fall off in my hand just putting the wrench on it. (Stupid pot aluminum sometimes huh?) Just came off a 50 mile mountain trail ride on it and the 4 hundred pound test zip ties are still holding... New bracket yet to come. I love old cars I used to work in a Fab shop and worked on a WIDE variety of cars from vipers, and vets, to massive trucks/ RVs, to column drive pickups, and my favorite the GTO LeMans... Best line EVER at the end of the day getting ready to close shop and deciding what to bring in and what to leave in the yard my boss said "first things first, everybody grab a classic!"
@@spurgear4 what year is the merc? My Dad had one about that era. It was definitely NOT as pretty as yours... name was "spot" you can imagine.
@@adamrubinger2644 it's a 1950. His name is Freddie
Haha Freddie Mercury. I love it! That's my problem none of my vehicles have names...
