    Would it be the same process for a 2004 Ford Territory

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars วันที่ผ่านมา

      More thank likely yes, I believe the territory and falcon share many of the same chassis components including the rear diff cradle.

    Nicely presented but buy proper rated jack stands for the job very important I got 4 tonne jack stands for $100.00 for the pair plus a low profile rated jack for another &169.00 yep you gotta spend but what's your life worth probably good to explain to some off the audience about the correct jacking points for these heavy cars and the safety around doing this job death comes but once also buy once or pay ten times over an old saying I have learnt to not be pound foolish or penny wise when spending yep your flipping the car but take a small hit to pass on safety to the next driver off the car crucial for your own peace off mind and inner peace as a human being red noalathane or blue or my preferred product from Whiteline the red is the hardest though. anyway it's a job and 3/4 alright to get through essp if your aging and don't want to get ripped off if you could get someone who knows how to do this for about $500 to $800aud your in front......

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes I couldnt agree more, myself and my helper both agreed we wouldnt be getting under the car unless it was properly firm and stable. I know the ramps looks kinda dodgey, but combined with the proper jack stands at the back, the car wasnt moving an inch! I know the noalathane bushes are the best, but the factory replicas should in theory be as good as the ones from ford (even tho you could argue the factory ones arent great haha).

    Sorry, the retractor didn’t get lubricated. You only allowed less friction between the seat belt and the plastic parts it sliders over. You have to access the retractor and lubricate the axle of the belt hub to then say you’ve lubricated the retractor, which you didn’t do.

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think some of the lubricant will have certainly made it to the retractor, but yes, it would work a lot better if you accessed the retractor directly. Either way, this method definitely helps with the issue 👍

    1500 grit is too fine. You shouldn't go above 800 grit to ensure there is enough 'bite' of the new paint onto the old paint.

    • @BenFlipsCars

      Thanks mate, yes it came out very well after the wet sand and polish. It depends, if you have a newer car that you really care about, I'd go for the 2k clear coat. However for this car with over 200,000km, the septone did a great job as you can see. Really depends on how much you care about the car and how much you wanna spend

    You could have just used 2k clear on top of the base coat. It would have eliminated the need for buffing as it would match a factory finish. The nozzles on these 2k clears are far superior to acrylic versions. It would have looked even better as well.

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes indeed, 2k will yield a better result. However for me its not sold at my local auto stores, plus I was doing this job on a car with over 200,000km so it didn't need all the top notch materials. In the end, I was very happy with the outcome! Usually thought a little buffing can improve the look of even the 2k can outcomes and reduce any minor orange peel.

    I bet the diff rear mount bushes need replacing in that Territory. To do that you have to pull whole diff out. Common problem with those, and electric windows and sagging hood lining. Shit paint and clear. Overall not bad car those old Tezzas.

    • @BenFlipsCars

      Thank you mate I appreciate it! Yes, I'd say 3 would probably be enough. You can always start with 2, and run to the shop for another one if it turns out to not be enough. Only thing that'll be slightly challenging with the roof is keeping the can vertical enough that the paint comes out evenly. I'm sure with some patience it'll turn out fine! Thanks mate, no worries. Ah sorry to hear than mate, yes unfortunately once the paint gets into this sort of condition there isn't a quick fix. However if its just a bit faded, you could try some compound to see if it brings the gloss and shine back. But of course if its already peeling, don't try that!

    Looks good, well done. Question though. Which green is the true green? The section you painted seems brighter, more vibrant green. The Green on the bottom-half of the boot seems darker, and the green on the rear-quarter panel seems to be in-between those two coloured green.

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks mate! Yes the section I painted wasnt a perfect match, it did come out a little brighter but the angle of the panel toward the sun makes it seem even brighter again. As for the other 2 panels, they should be the exact same green. I think over time one may have faded a little more than the other (2004 model with 230,000km) and also the different ways the light it hitting them makes them look slightly different.

  • @Coryw133
    @Coryw133 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have painted a lot of panels with 2k and 1k clear coat cans. After about 6 months of direct sunlight it starts to crack, really bad. Small stuff like side skirts I've never had crack, but top surfaces like roof, bonnet, spoiler - they all go to complete shit You need to buy clear coat with the pull tab for hardener under the can. It's more expensive but long lasting I guess for flipping the car you won't hear from the buyer again, but just know

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had a car I did this fix on and over a year later I hadn't found there to be a single issue with the job, even though the car was kept outdoors. 2k is definitely better and will last longer, so if you're doing it on a more valuable car that you car more about, defs go the 2k.

  • @lukeforks9134
    @lukeforks9134 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The clear is separating from the base - this is a temporary fix, eventually all the clear will delaminate.

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you treat the remaining clear with polish & wax it should help protect it and last much longer. Otherwise sand off all the old clear coat (as I more or less did here) and do all new clear. Then it'll last ages 👍

    Ben next time go to local auto specialist paint shop that will colour match the actual panel your painting before mixing up the colour into the can. Also ask for the base colour mix that will handle clear coating in the 2k cans they sell off the shelf. 2k clear will always give a pro finish over 1k rattle cans and save you spending many hrs cutting & polishing 1k to get a simialr result (not much difference in rattle can price). Next stage for you if you flipping cars is to get yourself a small compressor & hose & moisture filter then a spray gun from Ali Express (Aeropro A610 with 1.2 & 1.3 tips for $80) and from BCF buy a cheap portable Gazebo with zip on sides included as temp booth. Buying auto paint in liquid format (not rattle can) is far cheaper than getting rattle cans mixed up if your doing this regularly (surprising how little actual base colour content actually goes into a rattle can with the bulk being the pressurised gas). The paint shop will sell small portions of base colour for small jobs. Follow & watch "Paint Society" on YT for all your DIY home garage painting tips where he has heaps of vids for painting at home on the cheap

      I really appreciate this comment brother! I have considered getting the paint scanned but its a much longer drive for me to go to a specialist paint shop. For more expensive cars down the line I'll consider doing it. Same deal with the 2k cans, although I may look at getting some online... If I ever need to paint an entire or large portion of a car, the compressor & paint tent I'll look further into as it becomes significantly more price efficient at that point. Thanks for all the tips again mate, I'll take a look at Paint Society 👍

    Just a small tip, it’s easier to get the rubber in if you use the lubrication in the kit and lube up the reaming tool before you ream the tyre, the rubber strips go in much easier 👍

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes mate, looking back unsure why I didn't show that in the video. Lubricating the hole definitely makes it easier, especially if you have a thicker tire 👍

    BTW... You did a bodgy job on this so called "fix"! You have no idea what you're doing when it comes to painting obviously yet here you are making videos instructing other people how to do a botch job to try to scam someone. My car had peeling clearcoat so I REPAINTED THE ENTIRE CAR, I didn't do a bodgy slap up job like this!

    It's c**ts like you who make it near impossible for people to sell their cars for a decent and fair price! Fkn flippers, you are the bane of society! I have a car I've put over 20K into to make it like a new car again to sell it, I'm only asking 10-15K for it REGISTERED but I only get offers for 3-5K from fkn flippers! I can only hope YOU have a decent car to sell some day and get lowballed by 90% by flippers and can't sell it! Wake TF up to yourself pal, stop being a greedy deceiving little p**ck!

    Glad to see an Aussie representing! So many USA videos that just aren’t relevant to us here. No way we can buy a Porsche Boxster here for $300 just because it’s got a flat battery! Great job Ben!! Subbed

      If you look at before and after, its a 99% improvement.. and he did it for probably $50 in material. Better than spending $1k to a panel shop that prob going to have your car for 2-3 weeks.

      Indeed, no small job! But most of it relatively straight forward if you know what youre doing. Getting the new bushes in is the hardest part for sure!

    Love the work, one thing Id be doing or recomending is pulling the bumper off and painting inside to save the finishing sanding work, would save on materials also

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not a bad tip! As I wasn't doing the entire bumper I decided to leave it on, but if you have a nice place to set it up when its off the car, definitely can help

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks mate! Yeah getting the rear end in and out isn't too difficult when you know all the connections, its just the weight of it makes it awkward. Getting the bushes out also isn't too bad, can be as simple as using a drill and a small hand saw. Hardest bit really is getting them bloody things in, especially the front ones!

    Good informative video but I think you're limiting yourself a bit by picking cars with less than 125,000km... I wouldn't be scared to pick one up with higher km if it's been maintained properly...

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the tip mate, 100% it can be difficult but if you manage to find one there you've got a real gem usually. Often I end going going even to 170,000km but under 150 is ideal, less is rare but occasionally you stumble upon them!
