Surprised you said that you didn't like Deredeo dreadnaughts (while discussing Sons of Horus) yet they appear so highly on your stats spreadsheet (low damage per point). I though they looks good for their firepower and has a nice rule to get skyfire when required by going on a FF order. Am I missing something ? I had glossed over the "ignoring Allied Contingents" in the Alpha Legion rules, that's a real pain as it would be great to infiltrate some sort ranged units such as dreadnaughts.
Nice analysis. I orginally had 8 leman russ vanguishers and 6 kratos in my list, however when looking at the points of larger squadrons I dedicded to have 2 units of kratos. I originally had 8 leman russes (335 points) and 6 kratos (350), very similar points because the kratos gets bigger points discounts for a larger squadron. I therefore went for 2 units of 6 kratos. I was going to go with battlecannon and all lascannons, but watching your video I may go with one squadron having battlecannon and all autocannon. The main thing I didn't like with the vanguisher is that to take advantage of its range its only firing the one shot per vehicle. Combined with the changing points efficency when you increase to 350 points squadrons is what tipped me over to the kratos side. Plus its a lovely looking model :)

Unfortunately, life and time limitations prevent me from keeping up with Legions Imperialis. In an ideal scenario, I would love to revisit the content.

The client+ vigilance works great against aggro. I tried it with proxies and healed 33 in 3 turns (i had iden out). It can be really powerful

3:40 - I think Storm Eagle can only take 2 stands of Assault Marines because of the Bulky keyword? Same issue with Spartans & Terminators as they don't have the "Heavy" transport keyword. Thunderhawks do have the Heavy keyword so Bulky doesn't matter and they can carry 8 stands of whatever infantry.
People throw out the "Broken" term too easily. Only two things i think are actually broken is Leman Russ Vanq weapons shouldnt have Armorbane (even without armorbane its superior to the other gun in every single way, anti-tank is not a negative worth paying attention to) and Infiltrate offers complete board control too easily. SA fliers are strong, im not denying that. But theres a difference between "perhaps a bit too good" and "wtf that is busted" - i think they just need to go up 10-15pts. I think the biggest reason people freak out about SA are beter than Marines is simply the Marine simps going "We arent near autowin unless completely swarmed wtf is this crap!" - this game is supposed to be fairly evenly numbered, SA have more infantry bases typically but the vehicles are about the same more-or-less. SA hit on 4s, but Marines have Accurate flippin' everywhere and a lot of their stuff also hits on 4s anyway. Every game ive played so far ive only eek'd out a victory, never a total stompfest like people are acting like SA cause.

Yes, this version of the deck is pretty entry-friendly and by no means top tier. If I re-made it today, I'd probably hedge into mid-to-later game stuff.

Is there anything non-budget that you would add to make this deck better, or is this the best version and it just happens to be budget friendly?
After keeping this deck together and playing for a while there are a few changes I'd make. Rugged Survivors are the first to go. I also understand that some people want to make it more of an aggro deck and swap late stuff for more pressure. Force Lightnings would be something I have added to deal with Superlaser techs and K-2SO.
5:15 It just occurred to me - would this potentially work with deployed Leia? She can't attack bases, but the rebel unit triggered from her ability can, right?
Great observation: while Leia can't attack the base, an additional Rebel attack from a nested action can!
This is the deck (almost identical) I have played at my last two local events, I have won 3 games both times, including beating Sabine Green both times. And both times in 4th game I have played against a yellow cunning deck and got absolutely DESTROYED.

Why play Aggression to ready when you can run Keep Fighting? Aggression for 6 seems such a weak play.
I prefer the versatility, such as matchups when you are the control player.
Tbh 6 cost for 2 effects in one go is still pretty good.

Seventh sister attacks, ready with inquisitor leader, sister attacks again, deploy inquisitor and attack (use unit ability to easily seventh sister), seventh sister attacks again, play aggression to ready 7th sister and attack again Similar deck to mine, I like to run resilient to give my units a little bit more survivability while stacking dmg
That's one way, but if Aggression readies Grand he can also get a 2nd attack, readying 7th sister; not to mention that would be 18 damage to base and causing 12 direct damage to units!

I think they add a number of these "changes" to the errata even if they appear in other books so that if a touranment says "we're using the rules, but not Case Blue" or something similar to that the change still takes effect, because the FAQ applies to the rules generally. Which is good: I'd prefer it written in multiple places than have arguments about whether or not it should apply or not
They would be more effective if you could actually get hold of them. All the aeronautica stuff seems to be permanently absent from the shelves, have they even reboxed them yet?
Also you'd be amazed how many scenarios have things wrong or missing that make them entierely unplayable I remember one my friend and I played that didnt have victory conditions, no objectives, nothing.

Hmm, you are probably right that it was more of an overview. I did not want to only look at it from a competitive perspective nor critically review Warlord with it. Did you have a recommendation on what lens you would have like to have seen through?

China does appear to be the exception as it has its own 22X while most other minor nations have theatee selectors that specifically use the German entry.

For space marines you need at least 3 storm eagles to transport the compulsory units. I load 16 assault marines in two thunderhawks and 2x4 core of tacticals in stormeagles. Would it be better to upgrade the stormeagles into 2 more thunderhawks for +100pts and the ability to add missile launchers to core groups. I have been playing a White Scars Aerial Assault and have two opinions. Thunderhawks are great for holding a single full detachment dedicated to assaulting,with Terminators or Assault Marines. What I do find is that the formation needs more infantry somewhere to not be assaulting, for the sole purpose of increasing the formation breakpoint. Sticking Missile marines and rapier on an objective are my preferred ranged option for this. I haven't edited decided what is best for the mandatory tactical and commander and usually just stick them in one Storm Eagle. The rest of an army's points I use for other Legion Formations.
I especially enjoyed the advanced tactics.

What are your thoughts on the new books completely abandoning/changing the price curve detachments are on depending on their size? Not a single new unit saves even 1 point by scaling up. Would also love to hear your thoughts on activation economy itself, especially as the game scales up. We're finding it tends to play better oddly at lower point levels like 1000-1500, there has been a tendency for the bigger games so far to be very top heavy/top loaded in terms of the first few turns being very decisive and then someone tapping out. Noticing alternating activation almost exhaustion.
Great suggestions. You may have be on to something. I do plan to evaluate the new book soonish (tm). My recent games also have influenced my thoughts on activation count as well.
Bigger playing fields are a must for bigger battles. It helps spread out the otherwise oppressive concentrated fire of so many units in a tight space.
@@HandofBlake Well its a few things, alternating activation, high variance in firepower not always correlated to point cost, some very cheap units put out a lot of dice. But also, there aren't nearly enough limits or guiderails, planes turn 1, choice of when to arrive for deep strike/outflank, no limits on infiltrate, the current biggest core problem imo. But also, there can be massive disparity in activations, I can get like 77 activation at 3k, there aren't any limits on formations at all. I don't think board size is the only consideration, there's too much on the board at one time as point level goes up for alternating activation to handle gracefully. If there's too big a disparity in activations, once one side runs out there's very little alternating about it.

For events we're likely going to have to limit the number of formations in general, and the first change likely to happen is limiting marines to 1 faction and forcing them to burn their 30% allies to take a 2nd. Reasons are balance, aesthetic, but also, it might be hard enough to get people to have their legions paint job correspond to their rules, having to deal with that multiple times over is also not ideal.
I'm not sure I see a huge need to limit the formation count. Were you thinking 4 or so?

Of note, unless I am mis-reading the rule; Alpha legion Allies do get a special rule if all allied detachments are alpha legion. It’s less potent than the full army rule, but still something.
I am personally waiting to hear back from GW to see if the word "army" in the allied contingent section was supposed to be "formation."
