so there's one side to this story, back in the day SMW romhacks were incredibly popular the japanese video site niconico douga however, once Mario Maker was released, nintendo took down hundreds of thousands of smw romhack videos. this intimidated the japanese hacking scene and custom mario in general and, it just never recovered so for many at the time, Mario Maker was seen as a way of nintendo to shut down the romhacking scene more than a good faith game it's too bad because mario hacking does have its origins on the japanese side too. in the late 90s we got a SMB editor that pretty much codified what romhacking would be like, and as far back as *1987* we had the Tonkachi disk editor which was used to make a couple SMB romhacks

I know some older (gum)ball machines have some of these pits as some kind of “gutter zones”, and there’s also a chance that maybe the original design was more pachinko than pinball.

I think I tried a really old Mario Maker flash game once and it was kind of overwhelming. I usually tried "making my own levels" with scene creators.

I feel like the portraits on Luigi's Mansion having no animations in the final version is actually a bug, since they animate properly every time the track returned in future titles.

What i love about smbx is that you can script your own things basically giving you infinite possibilities. Its so good and underrated.
