    What exhaust do you use?

  • @tone3560

drive it 1000miles + and it feels perfect to me. The 1st 1000 miles it was finicky like an on and off button. I have drove manuals for 20+years of all sorts of vehicles including dual disc clutch diesel and a lightweight flywheel 350z. You shouldn't need to dick with a clutch spring to have the engagement you want. You need better modulation of the clutch/throttle takes practice to adapt.

do you have a similar solution for a Volvo XC90 MY2023 which has the same annoying exhaust and motor sounds. It is an expensive car and pretends to be very quiet, it is in fact not at all when the engine runs, electrical driving it is indeed very quiet.

Out of curiosity, I am used to a clutch stiffness out of a 91 Ford F150, or an old 90s toyota 4runner. What is the stiffness of the clutch in the BRZ, Wrx or GR86 compared to a 90s clutch?

    • @Yepmyaccount

I had that same scare when I first started driving my gr86 (new to manuals). I downshifted to 2nd and got some pops and thought I broke the transmission, so I stopped downshifting into 2nd, as I did not think the pops I was getting would happen without aftermarket exhaust + tune. Now that I can downshift properly in all the gears, pops are pretty regular on a completely stock car.

Thanks for the clear instructions, these helped a lot. Two notes for others: 1. I struggled to get the first piece of console trim off with a small tool or a credit card, so I ended up going at it from the top of the piece (to the left of the leftmost button). 2. The key to the brake boot trim is finding the places where your fingers can penetrate deeper and get around the edge of the piece, since this is the area AROUND the clips.

100% a lot more feel in the clutch. If you don’t like how light the clutch is then this will do wonders. Take the clutch spring out first. See how it is without it and if you don’t mind the slip at the top, then stick with that!
