I'm a creative media tech helping non-profits and other low budget projects do the best they can with what they have. Don't get me wrong! I have and love using good gear... but one doesn't need tons of cash to make good productions. Seriously: if you have to you can make great videos on a smartphone. The days of needing $eriou$ rig$ are over.
This channel is all about the little things that make magic happen regardless of the price tag on the hardware or software. You'll find audio and video production tips, streaming and live production tips, even the occasional product review.

Remixing music via AI in Davinci Resolve Studio? Yeah, it is easy.
A quick look at using the Music Remix tool that is part of the AI suite in Resolve Studio. Change the levels of the bass or drums, mute the vocals or turn that %#!* guitar down. This makes is so much easier to use pretty much any appropriate music - even if it has vocals that would otherwise compete with the spoken parts of your video or podcast.

Davinci Resolve Studio AI audio tools: well worth the price of admission.
มุมมอง 8221 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Quality audio is extremely important but sometimes we have to make do with whatever we've got. The paid version of Resolve, Resolve Studio, includes some amazing AI tools for cleaning up audio so let's have a look at a couple of them. This is NOT generative AI and Blackmagic specifically doesn't have access to your files top train an AI. Its not that kind of AI. It's AI processing that runs loc...
Speed up your Resolve workflow with hotkeys!
มุมมอง 814 วันที่ผ่านมา
With just a few keystrokes you can speed up your work in Resolve tremendously. Here is a quick look at the hotkeys I find most helpful and how to make your own. Production Notes: My usual travelling setup: FX30 face cam, DJI Mic 2 for audio, desktop captured via Camtasia. Keyboard cam is my phone: Samsung S23 Ultra. Lighting is the Neewer HS60B bounced off a shower curtain.
Audio Editing in Resolve?! Yep! Great for editing podcasts!
มุมมอง 4021 วันที่ผ่านมา
A practical walkthrough of simple podcast post production with Resolve. Sure, the Fairlight page isn't widely konwn as a whizbang audio tool but here I make the case that it does the job more than well enough. Even the free version! Production Notes (With affiliate links): Filming on vacation! Camera is the FX30 with an old Sony 18-200 3.5-6.3 lens. Demo audio for the "podcast" was the Zoom H6e...
Getting Resolve Set Up! Let's gooooooo!!!!
มุมมอง 14128 วันที่ผ่านมา
Downloading Resolve isn't hard but there are a couple slightly confusing bits along the way if you haven't done it before. Let's also change a few settings to make things easier later on. Production Notes: Sony FX30 and the Sigma Art 18-35. Audio is the DJI Mic 2 into the FX30. Desktop capture is Camtasia where I add the mouse cursor effects then edit the whole deal in (surprise!) Resolve.

Lighting is way more important to good video than most people realize at first. Let's take a look at a practical example of how to use some (sort of) household things and budget friendly lighting gear to get a better image than we'd get with just available light. ZB2: What Resolve does better than phone editing
มุมมอง 2310 หลายเดือนก่อน
There are some things that are just (vastly) easier to do with a larger interface, more precise controls and more horsepower. The 2 examples we explore in Resolve are auto syncing files by audio and using hotkeys. Affiliate links: While Resolve has a free version that is wonderful, the studio version is a one time purchase of $295US and includes some tools that make it well worth it: amzn.to/3Y...
ZB2: Tripods, also a good first upgrade
มุมมอง 37ปีที่แล้ว
Tripods. Not the most exciting things but easily among the simplest ways to make video production easier. Everything we're talking about here is light, mobile and fairly inexpensive. While there are more professional (and expensive) options these will get you started and continue being useful for a long time. Affiliate links, of you're looking for these kinds of things. These are the ones we cu...
ZB2: Davinci Resolve Practical Walkthrough. A simple cut page edit.
มุมมอง 411ปีที่แล้ว
Let's take a look at making a quick edit using (mainly) the cut page in Resolve. It is pretty simple, though you'll see that Resolve can do a LOT more than we're asking it to this time around. We're just getting started but don't worry about it too much: most editing isn't any more complex that what we are doing in this video. ZB2: Better Audio! More important than you might think...
มุมมอง 62ปีที่แล้ว
Many would assume the first thing to upgrade for better video is a better camera. Nope! It is better audio. High quality audio is far more important to video than you might think. Zere Budget: Season 2! Introduction
มุมมอง 22ปีที่แล้ว
Let's dive a bit deeper into zero (and very low) budget media production. As you may have guessed it isn't really zero but rest assured the few purchase suggestions I'll be making are the best value in the low budget range I could find. We'll also continue getting more out of the gear you likely already own and start including computers in the production workflow.

Cheap (and I mean CHEAP) way to make phone video more stable.
You can use Source Dock plugin and enable Text Input for each source, so no need to use external text editor. 🙂
Nice! Thanks!
I appreciate the effort you put into this video. The next generation of editing tools looks very interesting. I like how you show your thought process, that is the majority of the battle.
Thanks. I was hoping that would come across: in the process of an edit both how to use the tools and how to make editing decisions can be demonstrated. I'm also pretty impressed with what Capcut and Lumafusion can do on a phone. Half the time I'll use them in the field to do quick test edits to make sure the shots I have work about the way I want them to even if I'm doing the project in Resovle later.
How do I make it visible then hide with my stream deck? Sorry, newbie here.
Pls what plug-in did you use to make that transition
No plugin. :) That's all stock functionality in OBS now.
Very poor video -- you're hiding what you are selecting. Waste of time.
Another lesson from the shed. Thanks! I didnt know you could do transitions with the visibility tag.
Its pretty cool what you can do just in OBS. I'm wondering if I could make some silly animated channel trailer using OBS, too. I'm sure a "making of" vid would be waaaaay too long, tho. :D
Awesome, Shade!! Thanks for this video.
So damn useful. Thanks Shade!
Thanks, Chris!
Hello Chris. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Youre just making things complicated.
Somewhat, yeah. Still simpler than "Oh, crap, I need to render several new lower thirds on the same machine I'm currently streaming on while I'm switching cameras...." Easier would be to have a blank lower third video ready to go and just change/animate the text over it. Still, a good addition to OBS.
Awesome!!!
What if you used a pointed stick?
Still probably wouldn't stand a chance against someone using fresh fruit. :D I have done that. Works well in soft enough ground: free "tripod." That's exactly how I got this idea. Decided last minute to use my phone as an additional angle in a multicamera shoot but hadn't brought a tripod. I did have a hair tie, though.
