I am am moving from Southern California (my daughter moved there with her NC native boyfriend:) and I am so excited for some rain and thunderstorms! I visited several times during spring and summer and was pleased, but will see about the hurricanes and tornadoes. I am moving to the coast, wish me luck!ð
I love the coast and live there part time. NC actually doesnt get the storms as bad as the FL area. I do love a nice thunder storm. Let me know if you need help finding an agent out there, I know some great ones!

Not yet. Actually no, they are just now breaking ground, but this home is located right next to where the multi-use development will be. This will lead to a strong increase in value in the area and home ;)

Thank you so so much for the well wishes. we were very lucky. Both of our parents live in Asheville which was hit very hard, they all got out thank gosh and are living with us here in Charlotte. Charlotte was pretty much untouched. I'm currently collecting funds and donations to make a run up on Monday with our trailer. Its far worse than what is being reported. Keep those families in your thoughts
Do hurricanes & flooding hit the city - uptown area?
actually no! We didn't see any real affects of it, to the north a bit and east of the city up in the mountains is where there was flooding and damage. There was some power out but that was only for a day or so. Still to date the last hurricane to bring damage to Charlotte was Hugo in 1989 I will add the storm in Asheville area is a 1000 year storm meaning the area hasn't seen a storm like that in 1000 years (maybe more). It would be unlikely to see it again in our lifetime
Charlotte is so car centric and spread out. Stop building developments, known as "Communities", BUILD A CITY! and stop the spread with this crap stuff.

Charlotte, like many growing cities, is spreading and going up. There will certainly be more to come and those who want more land and spread out will want to seak areas further from the city

I avoid Charlotte at all costs. NC has changed substantially and for the worse since I moved here 30 years ago.
there have certainly been a lot of changes. Charlotte is the #2 most popular city in the US at this time so that will come with growth, more people, more homes, more ... everything. Most of the changes are amazing, but those who have been hear for many decades as you have truly seen the biggest changes. It's not for all, but it's an amazing city

How would you compare Mint Hill to Uptown especially for the older retired demographic in terms of conveniences, amenities etc.?
I think it depends on your ideal lifestyle. The convenience of walking to everything you need as you'll get in Uptown is quite nice, but Charlotte (the area) is a car centric city and the Mint Hill area will offer you more peace and quite but also has a cute little downtown to walk around and enjoy with the amenities close by. It also comes down to cost. Uptown will be more expensive all around. I'd be happy to discuss further and see if I can help you find the perfect location :)
@@livingincharlottenorthcarolina My previous understanding was that Uptown mainly comprised a young demographic and didn't have a lot of amenities in the condo neighborhoods. Maybe I misunderstood.
@@dovygoodguy1296 there is a section just outside uptown called South End that is pretty much all condos and apartments and younger demographic but the Uptown demographic is a mix. Amenities might not be a grocery on every corner but if you select the south side of uptown you will have a whole foods and parks right there With a bike you can have everything you need!
Or, you could go 45 minutes north of Asheville to TN and find great schools, tons of opportunities, less crime and homelessness and significantly less on cost of living
yes Tennessee certainly has great schools. Charlotte has some great opportunities for schools in a variety of locations that are also lower in cost than most cities in the US

Can you hear the airplanes? We are moving there about 10 minutes from the airport ð
No you cant :) It is a smaller airport and if you are 10 min away you shouldn't have airport noise. Now this depends on the specific location (if you are in the landing flight path etc.) but i have clients who live 2 miles from the charlotte Douglas airport and they can't hear anything. :)
The public schools are filled to the brim with minorities DO NOT GO TO THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS
So sujective. I love Gastonia on so many qualitative fronts. I have lived in Charlotte for 54 years. When I returned here from school, I worked in Gastonia and lived with my parents. At the time, I couldn't stand working there, but I was only 26. Now, that is, from an older POV, not only would I have continued to work there, I would have purchased my home there, and developed my career there as well. But I can see how it might not be some folk's cup of tea.
I' looking forward to doing a video on Gastonia here soon. I think like any town or city it has its areas that are not as ideal, but I truly love south Gastonia, it's beautiful! You are right, not always everyones cup of tea... but that's whats great about options... you can live somewhere else ;)

Suprisingly the reason why we don't have more public transportation is the lack of people who use it. There were actually bus lines that ran (and still run) that only have 1 or 2 people on them. The city is easy to navigate by car so it is a better opportunity for most to just go that route
@@livingincharlottenorthcarolina I mean it makes sense. People aren't going to use inefficient public transportation, which is the case with CATS. As a UNCC student, I would totally take public transport if it was actually good, but it's not. It's slow, and not well connected throughout the metro. I can guarantee you, most Charlotteans want a light rail directly to CLT. Charlotte is disturbingly car-centric, which is going to hurt so much in the longer run when more people move here (traffic and car accidents).
@@livingincharlottenorthcarolina Charlotte definitely has it's perks (diversity, weather, etc.). But Infrastructure is definitely not one of them.

@@aloe704 coming from NY I settled in a. 55 + community in Mt Holly. Very quiet with natural beauty. But I also love Huntersville with its Baxter Village . Ballantyne is a great area too.
Yes we do have snakes but not like "snakes on a plane" snakes. I've lived in NC 20 years and have only seen 4 venemous snakes. 2 of those were in the mountains and 2 were in our back yard. Most snakes are non venemous and will keep away bugs and rodents ;)
