My daughter has a 2012 kia rio that randomly will make clicking sounds when trying to start. Sounding like the battery is dead but I have 12.5 volts and when it's running, the alternator is pushing 13.7 volts. I will definitely check this out though before tearing into the starter.

My problem with the Maverick is that it's main customer base are middle class suburban dads who won't pony up for a real truck (and I'm including the midsized segment, basically anything that is body on frame) but want the females in their life and the other beta dads to view them as masculine when they aren't and never were. The Maverick is the personification of the suburban dad who is cucked by his wife and mother but has a need to signal his manhood in some way or another but refuses to go to any real length to do so, because once again, he's living for the approval of his wife (who hasn't blown him in 8 years) and his mother (who is a constant judge of him over his father who should be the man who judged him but didn't) and other feminine influences. The Maverick is for the tech geek who works in an office under florescent lights in "IT" or "software engineering" and thinks of himself as a "smart modern man" but has little to zero street credibility (aka, hasn't been punched in the face, doesn't lift heavy weights, has poor adrenaline control, is afraid of conflict with his wife, not to mention some guy at the bar or his boss at work who doesn't pay him enough). That's the type of "man" who buys a Maverick. And it's embarrassing.

My 2017 Kia Forte did that. Drove me crazy. Replaced battery 3 times. Dealer just kept telling me to replace battery. Finally I had the Alternator replaced, but NO FIX. Had to carry a JUMPER BOX in the back seat. Finally after 6 months of intermittent problems starting.... the STARTER went out completely and they replaced it. Altogether this cost me about $2500.00 and it took the dealer EIGHT DAYS to get the starter replaced! Dyer Kia in Florida. Not happy with them.

I bought a Maverick hybrid and I'm proud to call it anything other than a truck. I live in super populated NJ where many weak ego pos people drive massive trucks they don't need, equipped with huge tires and lifts but never touch mud once it the vehicle's life. So incredibly discustingly wasteful. I work a desk job and commute back roads to work everyday. I'm getting between 45 and even up to 60 mpg on my commutes! It's amazing. I like to camp in the summers, kayak, go hiking, so having a small bed to toss stuff in is super useful. The Mav hybrid is 100% an amazing vehicle for my situation and it certainly shouldn't be compared to a full sized body-on-frame monster used for actual work purposes. Parking it and whipping around tight roads is great. It's surprisingly fast at local road speeds, seriously. What a great little commuter pickup! No regrets so far! Thanks for your take 👍

At 19, im the proud owner of a 2001 ram 1500 single cab short bed with the 5.2l V8, 4x4, and a manual 5spd, I work as a welder and lug around tools and pull a small trailer with my welding unit and tools on it, and I considered a maverick as a 2nd vehicle, I considered a hybrid, but I realized that the maverick won't do truck things like my Ram, nor will it be as fun to drive as my girlfriends 5spd impreza, so I decided to go buy a cheaper older sports car as my commuter for my day job

Bizzare w/corossion contacts. Yes, is acceptable explication but must understand that each crimp to ground connection is passing by via a big screw and entrys in a big nut. It is sure that a clean contact to ground helps more but the battery contacts are more important. The problem must be in more other locations, relay contacts, bad fuel pump, bad sensors, dirty injectors, etc.

If the park P position is not correctly in good position the engine doesn't start. Over there there is a swicth. Make some test w/P in different positions from normal position. The engine can be started in P and in N positions only.

This reminds me of my first car, a 1999 Buick riviera. I paid nothing for the car. A family friend had the car for a few years and every few months it would have another problem. When the electronic shift sensor for the transmission went out, he was done with it. He asked if I wanted it, I said sure, and he towed it to my mom's house (I was 17), dumped it in the front yard, and left. Shortly after getting rid of the car, he experienced the death of two family members. I'm talking within ninety days. Both very sudden. The car sat for a year. And I know this next part sounds weird, but it's entirely true. I worked at a gas station in a fairly small town at the time, so most of the customers were regulars. Same people every day. But one evening, someone new came in. He was a pudgy, short (maybe 5'6") man with a receding hair line. He looked to be about 40-45 years of age. He was dressed in a white button down shirt with sky blue pin striping, black slacks, and "business shoes." Ordinarily, I wouldn't remember a random customer, just because the town is small doesn't mean we don't get travelers. But this man was different, because he didn't buy anything. He entered the store, walked around for a bit, then came to the counter and started a conversation with me. I don't remember specifically what we talked about, but I do remember it was unusual. His dialog was, I guess you'd say, "unexpected." It wasn't offensive, it wasn't shocking, and it didn't make me uncomfortable, but it was definitely not your ordinary small talk. One piece of conversation I do remember went like this. Him: I felt hungry, so I stopped here. But as I looked around, I didn't find anything that would satisfy me. You only offer short term fixes, snacks. Me: There's a McDonald's up the road about a mile, it's open 24/7 Him: Hmm... Do you enjoy eating from McDonald's? Me: I do. Him: Do you order your meals with or without cheese? Me: I usually order mcdoubles which come with cheese. Him: There is a compound in the cheese used by McDonald's that, when broken down by the body, stimulates the brain's pleasure center. You can't buy that cheese anywhere else in the world, it is unique and produced exclusively for McDonald's restaurants. That's an example of the type of conversations this person had with me. He came in several times after that, always asking me bizarre questions but never buying anything. Eventually, he asked the question which made me remember him. He asked if had a car. I told him I did have a car (the 1999 riviera), but currently it didn't run. This stranger didn't miss a beat, he asked me how much it would cost to repair the Buick. I told him $5,000. I also told him the back story, how the car had been dumped on me by the family friend. He pulled out a checkbook from his back pocket and wrote out a personal note for $5,000, addressed in my name, I didn't want to accept the check, obviously. It was "unusual." Why would this stranger give me that much cash? I was extremely skeptical, so I declined his offer. "You said that this car (the Buick) was given to you" he said. I didn't say anything back. Also, I never told him I got the car for free, just that it didn't run. And the $5,000 I quoted was a complete guess, I never took it to a shop. All I knew was that the car only operated in reverse. "I'll pay to fix it for you" the stranger replied. "Whatever it costs," he said, while sliding the check across the counter. "Take it," he told me. "Take it. If you need more, tell me.." Short story long, I accepted his $5,000 check. I took the car to a professional mechanic for repair. Total cost to repair the vehicle was $4,200. It needed transmission work, as well as a new windshield because the factory one had become detached from the frame. After the car was repaired, I drove it for three years. I never saw that stranger who wrote me the check after the car was fixed. But before the vehicle was fixed, he told me his address. I have always been interested in real estate, and in Pennsylvania real estate data is public. Since I was obsessed with data, I regularly checked the sales for the township. I noticed that the home address he told me was sold shortly after he wrote me the check. PA lists the names of the home owners, so I was able to find this strangers name. He died. Not long after he wrote me that check. He left behind a wife, unemployed, who couldn't afford the mortgage, so she sold the home and moved on. I kept that car for several years. The $5,000 check from the stranger was enough to bring it back to operation. But that isn't where the story ends. Shortly after I got the car back from the shop and it was running again, the family friend who "gave it to me" changed the story. He said he only "gave" me the car because it didn't run. And since the car now ran, I owed him money for it. I refused to pay, of course. This is the same person who had two relatives die after giving me the car. Well, one of the relatives left him the deed to a paid for home, which he moved into after their death. Once the Buick was repaired and he demanded payment from me, and I refused, he received a letter in the mail. Apparently, the home he received had a lien against it and he was being sued. He was forced to sell the home to settle the debt. I kept driving that Buick, and I absolutely loved it. It was definitely my favorite vehicle. But in the time that I owned it, tragedy always followed. The family friend struggled to keep it running. When he gave it to me, that mysterious stranger gave me a large sum of cash to restore it, then he promptly died. The og owner who inherited property from dead relatives after giving me the car at first, had their fortune reversed after the car was fixed and lawsuits came in. Meanwhile, I kept driving this car. And it always had issues. I drove it until 2011, when the car began to suddenly shut down while driving. I'd be cruising down the road, when *poof,* the electrical system would cut out. No radio, no clock, no dash gages, no headlights, nothing. The electrical system would completely die, yet the engine kept running and the car could still be driven. The problem was that this issue was random - it didn't happen every time. And it wasn't something I could repeat on command. You just had to drive the car long enough, and eventually it would happen. I took it to a certified GM mechanic for inspection. They concluded that it was a problem with the BCM, so they replaced it. The car drove fine for a few days, then the same problem came back. So I returned it to the shop. Two days later the shop called me back and told me to come pick up the car. They said they couldn't figure out the problem. The tech I spoke to over the phone described the problem as a "ghost in the electrical system." Not hard to believe, because the 1999 Buick riviera had a ton of untested electrical components. But there was a sense of urgency in the tech's voice when I got the phone call, like they wanted the car gone asap. I wasn't able to arrange transportation for the car right away. Two days later, I got a phone call from the garage again, this time they called to tell me a spontaneous fire broke out inside their building. Oddly enough, my Buick was the only vehicle that wasn't damaged. The shop owner demanded that I remove my Buick the same day, because he believed it was cursed and responsible for the fire.

My daughter has a 2008 Kia Rio that would not start or crank , just a click sound from the starter motor, battery was fine, terminals fine, called mobile mechanic who thought the engine was seized, manually he cranked/ rotated the engine after he removed the front wheel from the drivers side , had trouble doing it but eventually he was able get the pistons moving and then the car started straight up, can anyone explain why this happened and if it’s a common problem?, the mechanic was vague on any kind of explanation.
