Fantastic video! Friendly, clear, and wow I love the narration!
Thank you! I am starting to have fun making videos, so the quality is getting better!
Animal planet🙈
Sick!!!
I love that you make the Hummingbird more affordable. Will you have a more affordable Soltice available in the future? I’m looking in the future for a trail bike with a 130-140 with sliding dropouts and ability to run plus tires.
For now, probably not. For a production bike, the HB and Solstice sales would probably overlap too much. There are plenty of well designed longer travel hardtails out there, like Sklar’s Tall Tale. But who knows, it’s hard to predict where Bike Industry ends up!
How to get one in Canada?
@@matto4222 international shipping can vary a lot. Send us a email and will get a quote for the shipping!
Also depending on where you live in Canada, I had mine shipped to the border and drove over and picked it up, which is another option.
Reynolds 953/853/753 tubing? Or Columbus? Or 520? Weight with pedals? Thanks
@@jasonhumphries6131 the HB has heat treated quad butted chromoly. We looked into using name brand tubing, but it would increase the cost significantly, and the tube butting profiles are not nearly advanced as the ones on the hummingbird. I’ll try to weigh the frames for the next video!
New Neu?!? Love the frame and always love your videos. :)
Looks like sliding dropouts standard on all of these hummingbird versions? If so, 👍
Yup. The sliders allows you to adjust wheelbase. We also have a separate slider that allows you to run Transmission to make it all compatible.
Bloody Brilliant!
Very nice!
Cool bike, and nicely made video. As for "the warmth of Spring spreading across the land" perhaps where you are but for many, no, that's not happening yet, not even close.
I know, definitely an optimistic forecast haha
@@Daniel_Yang_ARTEFACT Optimism is a good thing! Spring will be here soon enough, but I just had a sketchy ride to work on black ice and freezing temps. More snow to come this afternoon. Tomorrows commute will be "interesting".
I had been waiting for the core offering...and bought the blue metallic today. Can't wait to build it up.
A single tear rolls down my cheek...
Great news! An affordable Hummingbird! So awesome…👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Can’t wait to check it out !!
Looks great. Glad you did a yellow one :)
@@emmettisbiking it was a last minute decision, that’s why we don’t have any built up to photograph yet!
EDM mitering, that's insane. Also makes perfect sense. I didn't know this was a thing
@@remek_ember I didn’t know either, until I visited!
@@Daniel_Yang_ARTEFACT I would love to see more manufacturing videos coming. Workshop visits, frame design, testing, etc.
3:38 A wild Duracell jingle appears
Wow didn’t catch that! 😂
Now explore q-factor. Widening my q-factor was a discovery I wish I made years ago. One theory is that with bigger feet, you need a wider q.
That’s a crazy affordable price for an amazing steel hardtail. That price point so low I might have to get one in each color.
Dang I have too many wants haha... Good job
@@iflatland reach out if you want to try one out!
Congrats on the launch, Daniel and Nick! Loved the video!!!
Thanks! If you are having fun, you make fun videos and products. If you are ever in NorCal, stop by and take our Hummingbird for a spin!
I am again at the borderline that is 5'9. Any suggestions on how to chose a bicycle if your are at the middle?
It depends if you are long legs short torso, or the opposite. If you give me your mountain bike saddle height I can give a suggestion
Thanks for watching! Most mountain bikes are designed and marketed as an extreme sport, but realistically, that is not how most people ride. We wanted the Hummingbird to be a tool to help you get outside, clear your mind, and have fun with friends. This is our first production project, and we learned a lot on the job. I am working on a deep-dive video to show you all next month!
I love bikes! Started on a stingray! Have one in my shop now. My favorite bike color is still orange because of that first bike.. the stingray. Idk if I'll ever grab a Retrotec, but Curtis is so cool and I have immense respect for any craftsman making excellence and a life doing what they love while bringing joy to so many. I will definitely stop at Curtis's booth next MADE and ask about the Worsley!
it’s out tomorrow! congrats!
3000 bucks for a standard CroMoly frame with Unicrown fork, you don't even get a lugged fork or heat treated tubing. Wabi sells a fixed gear with better tubing and fork for 500 bucks, and their 2 guys making them in Taiwan have 40 years framebuilding experience each. "Adventure Freedom" cyclists getting ripped off like the carbon guys now sheesh. I guess at least you didn't buy a Surly at REI and get totally hosed like those guys do. Cool seatpost though, I wouldn't mind having one of those.
The 145 looks great….crazy she can feel the 5mm difference
Udh all day. Sorry but the fact that you can likely go into most bike shops now and get a hanger is more valuable than anything else. Just because you have udh doesnt mean you have to use transmission. So the cost downside just doesn’t resonate with me.
I am also a mechanical engineer. I try to explain why "steel is real" to people, but you did a much better job at it than I ever could. Great video.
So cool to follow your journey
Beautiful
Let’s goooooo! 🎉

get a good rider on a [Bonus] good bike ,Bad!!
Its too bad that the top bar won't work for us shorter riders... tall top bar and off road single track doesn't work very good... i stay with standard low bar that rocks the off road catagory...
Really enjoyed this video thank you!
try to have Tom Ritchey rate your steel frames!! his take on it, and post it!!
why is your heatube short!!??
Which fox 36 fork is this ?
Performance Elite. It comes with the Fit4 damper.
reminds me of the breeezer design one!!
Metal 3-d printing that's going into some full suspension steel bikes is really neat. Good video.
I had a Cool Tool! I lost the main body somewhere but I have pieces of it around like the allen wrenches and the socket.
i notice cyclist feel more roadie with the neutrul hand position!!
nno matter how bikes changed , still got to be pedaled , aero or not!!
yes, good or great bikes needs the same. its still the person!!
Found my new favorite bike channel. Sub'd!
Okay, but what about aluminum?
As a chromoly gravel owner I can confirm “steel is real” for sure. Despite the weight penalty I prioritise the riding comfort. Just put a deposit on my next steel rig - Kona Unit X 😊
