on our roads and highways now some off those unexperienced drivers made trucking business look bad and unsafe out on the road. common sense if he backs up little more the road wider, he can make a u turn with the guy behind help

I just finished watching a show called Marketplace here in Canada. It’s about trucking schools taking bribes to push new drivers through without any actual testing. I do feel for this guy because panic is a bitch, but there’s a lot of unqualified drivers on the road.

Dumbass at least back up so traffic can get through from the other lane and call for help!

I've been driving for 40+ years and I can tell you one thing KNOW YOUR ROUTE know where you are going and the route you are going to take. DO NOT trust Google Maps it does not show low bridges or truck routes. If you come up to a bridge and the bridge height is posted at ANY number lower than your unit (usually 13'6") DO NOT try to go under that bridge. Heck I've watched trucks go under bridges posted at lower height and I don't give a darn I'm not going to try it. Now maybe that's my OCD or something but I'd rather be safe than sorry. The other thing is if you come up on a posted bridge and realize you aren't going to make it either stop and pull over and call for help the police will come. It may cost some money but at least you have a job still. Also if you can prove the bridge is NOT POSTED and you hit it then you are not responsible.

Easy for me to say but he should have stayed put. Put the truck in park. Get out and assess the situation. Go back and talk to the drivers of the cars. Help route them around your truck. Ask one of them to act as a traffic manager by backing up their car back past the road to the left. Have them turn on their hazards. Simply back into the road on the left. Wait for traffic to clear and pull out going in the opposite direction. Pay the guy 20 bucks for helping you. I’ve done it before.

New or not you don’t treat the companies equipment like this, how could that driver NOT TELL that he was tearing the truck up?? Look all over the street, I’d fire this guy in a heartbeat if he were MY EMPLOYEE!!! You got to use your head when things arise like this, take a moment to really think about what you’re doing??? Bad judgment gets you fired

i think he failed to realize that the very thing that was preventing him from going forward was the trailer cuz when he went foward the angle of the trailer was pushing against the tractor...no? Also why wasn't there a sign on that road ahead of time stating the height of that bridge? That would've saved that driver alot of hardship. That was the DOT's fault for NOT posting bridge height at a crossroad before the bridge where he could turn off that particular road!!!

If that was me I wouldn't have tried to turn around, I would've backed straight backwards!! Was stupid to try to turn around in a tight space!

I’m a truck driver we deliver oxygen to a hospital in Placerville California. That’s city is so small, I went there last week. I was just thinking one wrong turn. I would end up like this. How was he supposed to know there was a low bridge! He has a sleeper so he is probably from out of town. I feel for this guy

It's okay don't stress yourself about it because you is not the only trust driver to do that I seen a lot of truck drivers trying to make a u turn and they be turning really slow to keep from hitting cars that be sitting at the red light waiting to turn on the road that they needs to turn on .
