I may not understand all the words .. but I definitely understand how simply you made this Nice job my friend... Big 👍😊
haha thank you :D i hope it can help someone with less than clean water.

Thank you.
Well I didn't understand not one word. But I did understand the visual of making a DIY polishing filter.

I work nights sorry bro 🤟🏻
OH no worries, it's just a hang out, kinda to pass time with friends.
Dear Gabriel: Although it is not possible, to install side windows, on this Intermediate Bulk Container tote, you should have great success breeding fish, in it. You will have loads of fauna (and perhaps flora) to add, to your aquaria. Thank you for sharing this, terrific build, on TH-cam. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar

Very neat
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much.
I would have used bleach on the inside instead of soap. The soap will leave a film. But with the volume of water you probably will be safe. Bleach will evaporate. Just my opinion
Oh wow i didnt even think of that, i just used what the other guy said to use, should i hit it with bleach now? i rinsed it 3 times.
@@GCaquatics I would bleach it well all inside really well drain it then let it sit for a day until it all evaporates. Then fill it up stir it up good drain it then you should be ready to go. But like I said that's what I would do. I use bleach every week on my filter socks I wash them in nothing but bleach let them dry then the next week rotate the clean ones in the sump. Same with my FX 6s I bleach the out sponges and swap them out with the clean ones. Plastic plants I bleach them as well. So as long as you let it dry up well you will be fine
@@razinfishes1918 wow ok thank you for the info.
That didn’t look too bad a little bit of elbow grease and you got her done. Would using a skill saw or sawzall be easier than the jig saw or angle grinder you used? Just a thought. If you really wanted to be precise a conduit hand saw could also work (take longer obviously). Also for the edges bordering edges and corners maybe a hand held belt grinder with some 220 grit would clean up the jaggedness and allow you to shape those corners into curves.
haha spoken like a man who works with his hands :D ya i used the grinder just to make the initial holes for the jigsaw, I was going to use a sasaw but couldn't find my blades :p Ya it wasnt to hard for my first try, I'm excited to get the third one going with a big window, just gotta find one without all the ridges.
@@GCaquatics ya the viewing window idea is really cool and I like the porthole on the one you already have running super unique. I’m sure they’re not all made the same and finding one with flat sides shouldn’t be too difficult
@@brantonlightcap it will be a couple months but I'lll start looking for one. Pretty excited to get that one going but have to save up for it first.
IV ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THIS
Me too, I'm so excited about it, i can't wait to see how they work, I mean you get almost 300 gallons in a 3X4' space, you cant beat it. Thanks for stopping by brother.
Ewe. What was it?
What ever was in the tank previously.
Lol. You need to invest in a good broom 😂😂😂
I know huh 😝
Awesome looks fun ,new stuff 👍🏻
yup yup im super excited about this project and truly looking forward to the next one if i can put a huge viewing window on it.
@@GCaquatics I wouldn't worry about those snails out there just don't put those plants in your inside tank ! Those snails are hard to get rid of 👌🏻I still get them ha ha I don't like them ! I got 3 pest snails fight with but I don't mind the Trumpet to much they live in substrate! The ones you got put eggs all over !
@@Smalltimetanks Ya i wont put in my "show tank" for sure, but maybe the breeder tank in the room to give the guppies and shrimp somewhere to hide.
I only first saw IBCs for fish watchig Adrians Fishroom. I'd love to have a few of them, but just not a great thing here in teh desert. Now if we were still on Ornage County, that'd be a whole differnet story! Curious: is there any reason not to cut the entire top off? But I guess you answered that. 🙂 Hah! I just googled IBC totes for sale and found some food grade totes for $95 each! Unfortunately ya gotta buy 12!!!! But they're out there on Google. Great project, Gabriel! ~Ron
It does get a little hotter in your area than over here, but they do fine in Bakersfield at 113 is hottest ive seen so far. You can actually buy food grade ones cheaper on craigslist if you are really interested.
@@GCaquatics Good to know. Thanks!
That is pretty cool, can't wait to see the next one with a big viewing window.
Ya i was bummed to not be able to put in a big window but that only makes me more excited for the next one.
Cool

Very impressive! Keep up the good work buddy!
Thank you sir, i apprecaite it.
Waow, that's one hell of a set up ❤
Ya brother its a whole new adventure for me, I'm pretty darn excited.
I feel like he’s too small 😢
in the wild they gotta figure it out so we shall see.
That’s a lot of fish. 🐥 🐣
little by little ill get more and more :D
@@GCaquatics 🐠 =🐥
Oh boy they most likely have eggs everywhere in that tub...Those view ports are nice!
ya there are a BUNCH, but glad to hear they will not hurt the babies. ya i really like the viewing windows, i want to do a tub with a really big window almost like a fish tank, hopefully in the future.
Nice setup you have going, Cheers.
Thank you, I appreciate it.
Ramhorn, they won't eat anything but all the food ha ha you can't get rid of them now ! Don't let them get into your good tanks vary hard to get rid of ! They are beneficial but as also a pain and personally I don't like them ! 4:10
Ramshorn snails. Won't eat shrimp or guppies but they will take over
I've been told by 3 people to get some puffers and that the ram horns will be free food for them. I'm a little excited about that possibility.
I never wanted totes because I couldn't see what's going on. Love those windows
Ya i think that is awesome part of them. my next one just be a growout so no windows but hoping when i get around to a third one ill put a nice big window on it.
That’s pretty cool looking
yesir, guess they are called ram horns, just glad they are not dangerous to my project.
Rams horn snails feed them to pea puffers, but they are good tank cleaners as well.
You are the third person that mentioned puffers, I might have to get one in the future, I always thought those pea puffers were cool, just dont know enough about them. Might have to do some research then get some :D Thanks for stopping by brother.
@@GCaquatics hey they call them murder beans for a reason lol.
@@larrydsAquatics hehahah great name for them.
Love them in the bubble window.
Ya it is pretty awesome to be able to look into the tote.
And this is how I ended up with both bladder snails and rams horn snails. With the plants! They multiply fast. I'm not a big fan of snails, but they are part of the clean up crew - aleae eaters, detritus eaters, they will clean up dead fish, dead snails, etc. Beyond that, Gabriel, they are harmless. I hope that helps. 🙂Cheers! ~Ron
Thank you so much Ron, that does help a lot, i now know both types i have in there, and that they are both safe. Thank you so very much for your imput.
@@GCaquatics Absolutely, my pleasure, Gabriel!
Ramhorns are great- keep them going and maybe get a puffer. They love to eat them 👍👍👍
hahahah Great minds think alike, that is what Alex said. Thanks for stopping by brother.
What up my brother
wadup wadup BWizzle, thanks for stopping by brother.
Dear Gabriel: I see that several viewers have already identified the harmless, ramshorn snails. My concern is this: How are you going to prevent your, fancy guppies from becoming inbred, in your tote? I believe it will be difficult to remove young males, as they become sexually distinguishable. Once they breed with their siblings, the many of resultant offspring have bent spines. I’d do something about this, before females begin dropping fry. Once that happens, I think is will be very difficult to control. I remove young, male Endler’s livebearers, from my, 20-gallon-tall, breeding colony, as soon as I can distinguish them. Even this is difficult, as the fish are so numerous and swill so fast. I hope you have good success, with your, aquarist endeavors. Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
That i do not know the answer to, I see summer tubs coming up all over the place, which is what gave me the idea. I will have to do some more thinking about this.
Oh yes, please. I just want you to have good success. Thank you, for your understanding.
Red Ramshorn snails are super harmless, but they will breed almost as fast as the guppies. I've got heaps :)
Haha ya i have found that i was losing the battle, i probably picked out like 30 but as soon as i do there are more :p I am glad now that i don't have to pull them out. Thanks for stopping by.
Looking good! Ramshorn snail is what you’re asking about. Got all different colors in all my tanks. Good little cleaners they won’t hurt your guppies or shrimp. Be mindful of the amount of plants covering the surface of the water, it is possible to suffocate inhabitants by limiting oxygen exchange. I’ve never had a tote this big but on smaller tanks I like to make sure to keep open water with agitation
Wow thank you, that is something i didn't even think of, How much open space do i need? do i need to push them out of the way where the bubbles hit the top of the water?
@@brantonlightcap not sure if you meant pelting or commenting? if pelting ima lil lost :p
It is cool when they swim into the bubble. I really need to put windows in my IBC tank That is a rams horn snail/ pond snail..they won't eat the fish but will eat eggs ..not that you have to worry about your livebearers
Awesome, I am glad that i have knowledgeable people on my friends list. You all releived some stress from me. Thanks for stopping by brother.
Just snails my friend and they hitch hiked on all your plants you bought. They won't hurt anything. But they will populate like crazy
Thank you so very much, I'm glad i posted this video, i was scared and was picking them out as much as possible, probably threw 30 or so out so far, I'll stop now :D
Looking great Gabriel and Rams horn snail
Thank you sir, I was scared they were skuds, until i zoomed in today :p Glad they will not eat my babies. the other snails on the walls dont eat babies neither right?
@@GCaquatics scuds wouldn't mess with healthy guppies or guppy fry either
@@jeffkane4391 oh wow, guess i was misinformed, so i guess my future babies should be safe :D
Not sure what they are but they look pretty cool.
ya they do look pretty cool, lets hope they are not a danger to the project.
Hey Gabriel those are just snails nothing to worry about. They look like ramshorn snails to me. Lots of people like to buy those too. It looks like you just got a clean up crew to help your shrimp keep those totes clean :)
oh ok, i thought they were skuds that i was told eat baby shrimp and baby guppies, until today when i zoomed in with the phone and said oh wow they look like snails. I will stop picking them out. Thanks for the info brother.
@@GCaquatics they will help clean those totes which will be pretty helpful
