Dear Gabriel: I’m pleased to see that you are quarantining new fish. I recommend three weeks of quarantine, but more would not hurt. Some diseases, like guppy disease, can lay dormant, for quite some time. I suggest you add some, guppy grass or other, material, which will provide cover, for fry, dropped by your, gold molly (Poecilia sphenops). I hope that your tote will not get too hot, for cherry shrimp. But, if your friend is having good success with them, in your area, keeping them, in this fashion, I’m all for it. It is important to separate sibling guppies, so that they don’t breed. I suggest at least three tanks, for this purpose. The fry of sibling guppies are often deformed, due to inbreeding. Thank you, for sharing this interesting update. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
thank you for stopping by and for the advice, i do need to get some more guppy grass, i don't seem to be having the same luck that most do with it just growing like crazy, my buddy does have 6 tubs one with blue shrimp one with some small cool looking fish ans im not even sure what he has in the others. I am really excited about this adventure :D
Dear Gabriel: You could use some, fake, aquatic plants, as long as they are bushy and provide cover, for the fry, until you have good success with guppy grass. Charles has several tanks, where it grows like crazy. Those tanks have fertilized substrates and lots of fish, so the plants are well-fed. Thank you, for all you do, for the FishFam Community. Sincerely, Brinegar
Dear Gabriel: I’ve been trying, to think of something cheaper. Perhaps “filter floss,” if you break it up? Let me know, what you come up with. Sincerely, Brinegar
