Hi! I removed the centre pipe (the one with the particulate filter) which is between the downpipe and the rear silencer and replaced it with a free-flow one (so no more particulate filter). In order to do so you to cut the stock rear silencer-centre pipe because it is all in one piece

With the stock exhaust unfortunately the sound is not very loud because of the OPF! without the OPF is definitely better, check my other (latest) video if u wanna hear it!

@@tommiforna i know, but here if you delete it, you got à fail at the annual contrôl. sadly.. i would but i cant i would know wich opf back (silencer) with resonator deleted could be the better with Opf always on

@@zoltardbe there are many opf back systems on the market that you can choose, some of them are also valved which is awesome, but they tend to be quite expensive! Which ones are your favorite?

Thank you! I did the mod through a workshop and, for what I understood, it’s not an ECU map (since the Bosch ECU is blocked) but it’s just a mode on the car software itself! They connected the car via the OBD port and modded the software without mapping the ECU

@@antoniotosha2714 not at all! After the ECU removal I had the “engine check” light on but with the software mod the removed the error signal from the OPF sensor (so no more engine light) and the car hasn’t given any issue at all

The mod is very simple (and not that expensive), just removing the opf and replace it with a “normal” link pipe. The catalytic converter and rear silencer remain untouched but the result is surprisingly good!

How much did you pay for that ?

The cost is around €200/250 for the link pipe and all the work done at the workshop

I’m sorry I don’t have any picture but it’s literally just a straight link pipe without the opf! In order to install it you have to cut the stock exhaust though since the OPF link pipe and the rear silencer come all in one piece

Hi! Thank you! Yes in this video the car is 100% stock! The exhaust sound is nice actually, not very loud but has a very nice tone! Unfortunately though, what you hear inside the car is also some “fake” sound coming from the speakers (that you can’t turn off). I’ve posted also a video of the sound without the opf and it makes quite a difference! I will post a onboard video as well soon!

@@tommiforna You can deactivate asd (active sound design) by using a tool like bimmercode to remove those "fake sounds". I am about to buy one lci2 and put a good exhaust system on it to still have some pops like the versions before.

Congrats on your purchase! What exhaust will you put? Yeah that is what I did too! Fake sound delete, pops and burbles activation, and some other minor optimizations that made the car even more enjoyable!

I love the R56! If you modify the exhaust on the LCI 2 be sure to remove the OPF otherwise you won’t have that much change in sound! I’ve actually never heard how an Ego X sounds in person (only TH-cam videos), but from my experience a cat-back system totally transforms the car sound! The pops and burbles are activated via a software optimization/mod

Hi! This is a model year 2022 LCI 2, you can see it from the shape of the rear bumper! The LCI 1 have a more rounded rear bumper on the sides, and the pre 2018 comes without the opf as standard so there would be no need to have it removed

Nice sound. But i still think the best stock sounding cooper s would be from 2014-2017. After 2018 the pops are gone… check my video u can see my 2016 stock exhaust. I can’t choose between muffler delete or a downpipe. Anyone have experience? My car pops nice and loud stock, i am imagining how is would be with an exhaust upgrade.

Your car sounds really good from stock actually! Unfortunately after 2018 there is the OPF responsible for killing the sound and especially all the pops and burbles! But with the mods I did (opf delete and pops and burbles activation) it finally sounds like it should! You can hear all the pops in “sport” mode in the final part of my video

Congratulations on your purchase! Unfortunately due to the OPF filter the pops aren’t very loud and they are rare! Mine usually pops when I rev it gently at low RPMs

I totally agree! The turbo sound is so addictive but unfortunately the exhaust is not very loud and no pops since they put the OPF! The OPF is the anti-particulate filter they use to reduce emissions and allow it to meet the emission standard. It is placed between the catalytic converter and the rear silencer and is responsible for reducing the sound and stop the pops! Unfortunately you can’t just remove it since you have to map the ECU too in order not to have the engine light on

@@SoyTuAn0 I don’t see any problem with doing a stage one (apart from factory warranty/ insurance issues, etc.). Usually a stage 1 isnt extreme so it shouldn’t stress the car too much but just unlock its potential. Just check if your ECU is tuneable because, for what I know, some recent MINI ECUs are “locked” from factory and you need to “unlock” them first in order to be able to tune them! Cheers

@@insooleedat1asiandude that’s a good question! I’ve chosen the S because I wanted a 4-cyl 2.0 engine and it is a good balance between comfort and performance and, especially, price. JCW is a great car (even though it has the 8-speed automatic instead of the 7-speed dual clutch of the S), but the jump in price is important

Ciao, mi è capitato di sentirlo soprattuto quando l’auto “saltella” sulle irregolarità della strada o sui sampietrini. In concessionaria mi hanno detto che una delle cause sono le guarnizioni troppo secche che non attutiscono bene e lasciano un po’ di lasco nel finestrino e mi hanno messo un prodotto per lubrificarle e farle tornare elastiche come dovrebbero. Ora sento molto meno il rumore anche se qualche volta capita ancora essendo il finestrino senza montante

Devo dire benissimo! Gran motore e veramente bella da guidare! Sono anche sorpreso in positivo dai consumi perché non ho problemi a fare 13km/l. Anche dopo un anno sono molto soddisfatto della scelta. Molto bella anche la tua, con il pacchetto black viene molto aggressiva, anche io ero indeciso se metterlo!

Purtroppo il sound cambia solo all'interno (perché è un sound "finto" amplificato dalle casse dello stereo)! Il sound vero dello scarico non cambia nulla.. A mio avviso questo è uno dei pochi difetti di questa auto

A posteriori sono contento della scelta perché così ho sempre le mappe senza dover utilizzare CarPlay e i dati del telefono, però non la vedo come una scelta indispensabile!

Sisi sono d’accordo con te sul fatto che sia un bel risparmio! Sinceramente non saprei dirti dove ti conduca il tasto, probabilmente se hai CarPlay attivo ti porterà alle mappe di CarPlay (Google, Waze, ecc) ma senza CarPlay attivo non so, penso ti dia un messaggio del tipo “mappe non disponibili” o qualcosa di simile. Secondo me l’optional del navigatore valutalo se usi spesso le mappe o comunque la cartina e non vuoi che sia sempre il tuo cellulare a “lavorare”

Unfortunately not! We sold it cause it was starting to get a bit old and too many kilometers I still miss its big and angry engine but its successor (Porsche Macan) is so lovely to drive so I absolutely can’t complain (if you wish to see a POV drive of the Macan take a look at my video of it)

Let me know which one you order then! Keep in mind that if you want to have a proper improvement you have to replace the OPF and that means you have to remap the ECU in order not to have the engine light on (at least that’s what I read on some mini forums)

In realtà io pensavo che suonasse molto peggio, non si può dire che faccia casino ma ha una bella tonalità secondo me, soprattutto in accelerazione se la si sente da fuori (ricordiamoci che da una macchina con l’OPF non si può pretendere più di tanto)! Stai pensando di cambiare scarico?

Hi! The City Cross in this video has the "old" 1,2liter 4-cylinder engine with 69hp, which is not a lot but for what i experienced is enough also for the highway, it reaches 130km/h (Italian speed limit) quite easily, even though it has not a lot of torque since is naturally aspirated. It is pretty confortable too! At high speed it gets a bit noisy, but nothing crazy (you already have a Panda so there will be no surprises). The new City Cross now comes with the 1,0L 3-cylinder which is supposed to be a better engine (more torque, less consumption) but i never tried it (and i have to say i really like the "old" engine). To me, the panda 4x4 (or even better the Panda Cross) is the one to have, because with the 4wd system is unstoppable in every condition. Only downside is that its 2-cylinder turbo engine, that has considerably more performance, is also quite thirsty!

Yes, 100% stock! This v6 makes a really good sporty sound for being a diesel, especially in “Sport” mode where a sound “booster” is activated and the sound is even deeper

Great choice, you will love the way the Macan drives! This being the Diesel S model averages easily 7,5-8 l/100km (so around 13kms per liter) on combined use, it is a very fuel efficient engine. Petrol engines drink a bit more fuel: I tested the 2,0L petrol engine and it averages around 10 L/100km, and for what I know the V6 Macan S petrol shouldn't be that different.

@@tommiforna Thanks for the reply! That’s honestly great, 8% combined is what my old 2.2 E Class used to drink, and the performance was fairly absent, haha. Honestly with these highly and quickly increasing gas prices I’ll probably go with the diesel, although I bet the petrol one feels like a genuine Porsche.

@@leomodo9318 Yeah I have to say I was pleasantly surprised of the fuel economy in the Diesel, especially considering the amount of performance it has! I think it perfectly suits the car if it is intended to be used as an all-rounder: plenty of torque and, together with the PDK gearbox and the rear-biased 4WD, makes it amazingly good to drive for a SUV. I guess the 3,0 V6 Petrol (Macan S) is the right engine to have but (in Italy) it's quite expensive to run considering fuel prices and car tax. The 2.0 petrol ("base" Macan) is quite aggressive and overall a very good engine (considering it is 4-cylinder) but in my opinion lacks torque and its not powerful enough to give you the proper "Porsche" feeling (and it drinks the same as the V6 petrol).

Open RM sounds so good! The best way to explain the way I do the bangs is try to simulate how the automated-manual gearbox works: you should cut the throttle and press the clutch as quickly as you can. Throttle at around 70% and the shift from 3000 to 4000rpm. Hope this helps
