I have a turbo manifold for the st150 mate if your intrested in going down the turbo route
Hello, wil this help on Ford fiesta Mk7 ecoboost?
Fantastic vid mate I put new clutch in and one week later I could hardly move the gear stick I was at a total loss thought it was something I'd done until I found your post and followed your instructions. 👍👍👍👍👍
Looks fun
You would never set fire to it
Quick question i have done very little in the way of mechanical work but very keen to learn i have a mk6 escort van I'm doing the welding on then i was thinking of putting an st170 in it, as i say ive never done much on an engine but would like to do a rebuild would it be a crazy idea to make the first engine rebuild i doban st170 ?
Sorry for the slow reply. As engines go the st170/black top zetec engine are a pretty nice engine to work on so I wouldn't say it's a bad place to start learning on
He's a special Dawg
Silicone spray can help the weld splatter sticking mate 👍 not sure on wire, tho 😂
Cheers, I will look into that. The original wire from r tec was good, and then the next real I got, it was fine, but this lot has not been the best
Brilliant video going to do mine this week. Can i ask for some advice. My fan is not kicking in. I have just changed thermostat and coolant sensor. And its still taking a while to get up to temperature
It's hard to say exactly without seeing it. It could be a circulation issue where the water pump needs replacing. Also, consider that it's pretty cold out, so that will make it take longer to warm up as well.
@stitchmotorsport1745 thanks for your quick response and for the advice . I am new to working on cars myself but you videos are very helpful and has given me more confidence to do the work
@darrencole8349 that's no problem. I'm glad to help. If there's anything else I can do just let me know
Sweet, nice to have your own space 👍
Yeah mate should be cool
Look good, keep up with the good work
Cheers mate. You'll have to pop by at some point
I own a mk2 957cc ford fiesta mk2 completely standard. Great vlog.
Thank you. I really appreciate that. I originally owned this when I was 16 and it was completely standard then, part of me wishes it still was and me and my boys could restore it with some period modifications and they could have had it as a first car.
I’ve owned my firsts mk2 since May 1996 and has been must of the time of ownership been in a dry garage since 1999 to right now. So no weather at all. Garage is part of the house so never cold. Only change has been an escort 5speed gear box as the 4 speed main bearings had gone. This was back in 2001. Gearbox has only 260miles on it as the car been off the road also. So completely out of the weather. She sold old car. 957cc with a gone taping engine. Must be a one off.
Nice one mate, very helpful
Very interesting project, how did you work the stick shift mechanism to make it to work with the transmission mounted on the rear?Thank you.
Thanks for the reply. We are currently trying to figure that out at the moment. Currently we are looking at joining 2 sets of standard cables together
I did an st150 conversion on a face-lift 1.4 zetec. A donor car wouldn't have been financially viable for me at the time. I gathered fuel pump, loom, binacle and ecu keys etc as a bundle deal. The engine was £150 (needed piston rings) and I used the standard gearbox and driveshafts with an uprated clutch. Took a year or so to gather the bits and another 2 or 3 months to do the conversion. Plod along style. It was well worth what I would deem very little effort really. Depends if you want now. Or are willing to enjoy the process. I'm a process guy. Really enjoyed it. Easy work. Cars still going. No issues. Turbo upgrade along with the gearbox driveshafts and shifter...now its all a lot cheaper. 😂
Yeah, that's the thing you can get a complete car for, not allot of money. But it's cool that you spent the time to piece it all together. So is it turbo and mtx75 now, or is that future plans?
ooh nooo... too much face, too little engine work in this. Face and talk, should be more something else dont u think
Amazing video very detailed. As I am re-building mine I have been following your video. I found most information online but I am missing the crank sequence and torq spec. would you be willing to share that? I am replacing thrust bearings on my engine too. if so please send me a message and email or anything, it would be much appreciated
Hey mate, nice videos! Are there anymore in the series or is it just 1-4?
This is going to be an amazing build!
I'm really hoping so. The next videos should have abit more detail in them
cool to find another youtuber with a mk6 Fiesta ST150 :)
Cheers mate I've watched a couple of yours too. You'll like what's coming soon I'm doing a turbo charged rear engine swap into one. First video will be out within the next week
@@stitchmotorsport1745 wow so the engine in the back? Or Turbo charged rear wheel drive? I just bought a Fusion Fabrications inlet ☺️
@@DriveWithAndy duratec turbo in the boot🤣 are you on Instagram? If so go give us a follow @stitchmotorsport you can see some of the progress so far
So, are the 1.25 and 1.4 pretty much the same? Are the engine mounting positions the same for the lower spec cars and the 2.0l? I’m tempted to strip out my facelift 1.4 which is in perfect shape, and drop in a scrap 2.0l. Is it just the running gear and electrics that you really need? And the PAS hoses / vacuum lines?
Yeah the body's are the same from base model to St model. Pretty much everything needs swapping over from base model to St running gear wise
Mine just slided off without issues and my gear is stiff not moving at all stuck in neutral
How did the rebuild of that fiesta you done go?
The black one that we did the engine swap on? That car is going to have a build series on it where we swap the engine to the boot and turbo charge it
@@stitchmotorsport1745 that is awesome!!!
@@CdotPoppy we will be filming the progress and posting updates on our Instagram if you want to follow the progress
Are these timing chain or belt? cheers bud
These are a chain driven engine👍
@@stitchmotorsport1745 thanks! ✌🏼
Oil ring rail gaps to be assembly 60° apart from each other & a minimum of 90° from the expander gap (starting inline with wristpin) 2nd compression ring has an undercut facing down, upper n lower compression ring gaps not controlled but i recommend 180° starting inline with wrist pin
Great video not only on how to fix but explaining each component. I have an issue with the gear stick being stiff to move across in neutral but ok going into gears. I'll attempt this and see if the bottom gear selector cable? is ok
Cheers thanks for the feedback. Hopfully this will help with the issue👍
Are the to top ring off set opposite the bottom one
You can drill it out with a 12mm drill bit
Verry nice vid guys. Have you ran in to the problem that without ABS speed signal the ETB wont go full throttle? We have this on one we did recently
I've not had that problem with this one I'm afraid. I have heard on the pages of guys disconnecting the module from the pump and leaving that connected so it's still seeing the abs is there. I'm pretty sure when we did the swap we ran a live data check and we was getting full throttle
@@stitchmotorsport1745 thanks for the reply. Always nice to get feedback from those with the actual experience 👍
My mk3 fez is fully stripped out caged buckets Coilovers an yer …Dailey it’s horrible 😂
Hey man nice video, I have a question, how many NM you tighten the bolts? Im rebuilding the same engine but couldn't find the tork specifications! Please let me know! Friendly regards Toby
Was it a a problem on the 2.0 or just the 1.8? Serviced my 2007 Focus 2.0 petrol today, and noticed oil on plugs 2 and 3 (no running concerns) what do you think of that?
Have you got a picture?
Thanks for all the info. Exactly what I needed to know, I wanted to prep a 1.25 shell for a 2.5 USA fusion engine but I may aswell buy a full ST for all the bits I'll need. One question, if I'm doing this to a face lifted car, can I get away with just using the engine loom? Then just use the usual clocks/transponder/key swap ?
Hi good video pal keep em coming , any chance of showing installation of high lift cams on ST 150 , I have had mine from new back in 2005 now with 125 k , I red line it everywhere I go and only use Castrol oil it’s amazing how strong this engine is and how quick it is but it could do with just a tad more poke I don’t want to go to powerful where it becomes untrustworthy like I say I red line All day long and drag start from traffic lights I don’t think I will ever grow up lol , but do you think cams are sensible mod to do ? Thanks
Hi mate cracking video and info, i have rebuilt many vauxhall engines but got one of these to re ring this week, noticed you didnt hone the cylinder i always do with new rings i was just wondering before i do hone it if its ok to do so on these engines? forgive me if i missed that bit i have been power watching all the vids and trying to listen my mrs about her day lol excellent vids by the way! gaz
Thanks for the kind words. Yeah these engines are safe to hone. The cross hatching was still really good so we left it alone as the idea is to pull it apart again in the not so distant future to get new rods and pistons and the crank balanced so we wanted to keep as much material in the engine as possiple
@@stitchmotorsport1745 cheers for the reply and letting me know its safe to hone out, looks like spark plug porcelain as got in there and left some light scores but enough to pump oil. thanks again!
Hi... whats happeneing with this now? Love your vids dont stop
Its running and has got its light weight front end on now. We have been really busy trying to clear some half projects and other bits out before we crack back on with it. The aim is to get I out on track in May all going well. Their will be some more videos coming with it aswell as my other st track car.👍
So did you fit std size big end barings, is there any value to using plasiguage to make sure the clearence is right?
Mine does this when warm , do you think its the same fix?
Yeah theirs a pretty good chance it'll be the cure👍
@@stitchmotorsport1745 thanks boss, ill check it out
@@aak9042 any luck?
This is a TH-cam video of you talking into your phone , I didn’t make it to the end cos I just couldn’t take anymore
I currently have a 2008 mk4 mondeo 2.0 duratec that has 149k miles and drives absolutely superb. uses no oil between changes and thats every 6k. it was a one owner vehicle prior to me buying it. all the big jobs are now done, clutch, driveshafts and belt kit. what I like is how cheap parts are for it and are readily available.
Please post more !!
does the engine need to be locked off in anyway because of timing?or is it because its chain driven it doesnt matter ?
Because its only the auxiliary belt you are changing not the chain nothing g needs to be locked of
Just finished replacing the water pump and belt, saved me £££, thank you👌🏾
Cheers man glad It helped you get it done🤙
Perfect thanks for the video. Going to attempt this, this week
Thanks for sharing
Tett
I have a mk6 1.25 ZT....Is it worth changing to a 2 Lt lump or buy an ST straight off..
Hi, did you hone the bores?
Thanks
Hi pall. What did you gap the rings at?
