Oil ring rail gaps to be assembly 60° apart from each other & a minimum of 90° from the expander gap (starting inline with wristpin) 2nd compression ring has an undercut facing down, upper n lower compression ring gaps not controlled but i recommend 180° starting inline with wrist pin
Hi - how much would it cost to do the piston rings and valve stem seals? Also about how long would it take from start to finish? I have a 1.8 and i know some would say just scrap the car and buy another. But if i did that then there is no guarantee i'm not taking on exactly the same problem in another car so it's just throwing money away. Peace
A competent diyer should get the engine rebuilt in a weekend. Plus a day either end for removal and refit. I think it cost me about 250 for the bits to rebuild it.
@@stitchmotorsport1745 I don't have any space to do it myself and to be honest i think i would be out of my depth. A mate of mine said he looked into getting his done a couple of years ago and was quoted around 700 quid, don't know if that's a fair price or not. He scrapped his car instead. Peace
I think it really seems to depend on how they are driven and how well maintained they are. I have seen one with 150k miles on it and is still solid and i have seen them with 90k on and need rebuilding. I reccomend a company called BG for engine flush and oil conditioners they are really good and help keep rings fresh and increase engine compression therfore incresing power.
No worries. Im based in margate kent. Yeah give them a go i use them i my own car aswell as customers. If you have instagram give us a follow we put up more st related content on their aswell.
