      I fill up a quart sized jar with dried bidens alba leaves, cover it with organic olive oil, and let it "bake" in the sun for 30 days.I then melt beeswax at a ratio of 1 portion beeswax to 4 portions oil (1/5) using the "double boiler" method in the video. Once melted, I sti in the oil until well incoroorated. I use a wooden stick that I can throw away after as the wax will harden as it cools. I then take the jar out, tighten a lid on it, and let it cool on the counter. Use more oil in your recipe for a creamier salve.

    I’m not all the way through the video yet, but I might be able to help with the beans. Is there a chance you’re over or under watering? In my experience beans don’t need a ton of nitrogen. I’ve had them go yellow due to watering issues though.

    • @littlewildhomestead
      @littlewildhomestead 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's been extra hot so I have definitely been watering extra. I usually check the soil with my fingers and make sure it's dry before watering, but maybe it's wet deeper than I'm checking? I'll look into that!

    • @littlewildhomestead
      @littlewildhomestead 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, I will definitely give you some tips! I'll add that to my schedule! The number one thing I've struggled with and learned to overcome is that Moringa seedlings don't like wet feet very much OR extreme sun. So I find a shady-ish space for them and if it's going to rain heavily, I bring them inside. Once they are established, the rain won't be as much of an issue.

    • @littlewildhomestead
      @littlewildhomestead 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's SO exciting. Makes me super happy because that's exactly what I wanted to do with TH-cam this yr. For new gardeners, I recommend growing things that check off at least two of the following: 1. Things you eat/use a lot of 2. Things that are expensive OR not easy to get at the store. 3. Things that you don't have to wait a long time to harvest. If you eat/use a lot of ginger, then it checks 2 out of 3 of those boxes. It takes about 10 mos to get a really productive harvest. That being said, as long as you use a lot of it, YES. Great crop to grow as a new gardener. But I'd also recommend growing 1 or 2 other things that you can harvest more quickly so you don't get deflated by not having a product to harvest for nearly a year. Good luck and happy growing. ❤ Let me know if you have any other questions. 🥰

    Oh, I was also wondering how you prepare your soil To plant directly in the ground? Is your soil the same sandy mess that we have over here? I started with raised beds but switched to mounded rows at the beginning of spring. I had a bunch of soil and compost that was in the raised beds that got worked in. I’m hoping to experiment with some deep mulch gardening- just as soon as the time and energy align 😅.

    • @littlewildhomestead
      @littlewildhomestead ปีที่แล้ว

      So, we did a no dig method. We moved down the weeds and then layered compost and soil on top & amended with bone and blood meal. I topped that with cypress mulch which is slightly less acidic then pine bark mukch, so better for most veggies. I made the border with sticks from around the property because I am cheap. 😊
