Oh, I was also wondering how you prepare your soil To plant directly in the ground? Is your soil the same sandy mess that we have over here? I started with raised beds but switched to mounded rows at the beginning of spring. I had a bunch of soil and compost that was in the raised beds that got worked in. I’m hoping to experiment with some deep mulch gardening- just as soon as the time and energy align 😅.
So, we did a no dig method. We moved down the weeds and then layered compost and soil on top & amended with bone and blood meal. I topped that with cypress mulch which is slightly less acidic then pine bark mukch, so better for most veggies. I made the border with sticks from around the property because I am cheap. 😊
Woohoo! The untrellised tomatoes can not and will not be tamed 😂😂😅. What do you do with all the pumpkins? I only got a few last year and I pressure canned them and have only used them in muffins 😅. Pumpkins aren’t something we normally eat but I’ve been looking for ways to incorporate them.
My three favorite things are pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread/cake, and pumpkin soup. This is the soup recipe I use. It is AMAZING! www.onceuponachef.com/recipes/pumpkin-soup.html
