Thanks Erika. It is amazing how much you know about a person interest and thinking by asking a general question.
In the process! Thank you! This kinda stressed me out 🥹 Watching it again
THANK You Erika for doing this video, immensely helpful for any TPM in job market. I am in currently prepping for Meta 45 min Video Screening Interview with "a Hiring Manager" not "the Hiring Manager"(its not a phone interview). Can you do a video on some commonly asked behavioral questions, and techniques to best ans them as a TPM?
@@ramshadeshmukh332 check out my video with behavioral interview questions and answers!
This is the feedback I got from my GCA interview: If you're preparing for a higher-level role (like IC5 or above), focus on limiting the number of questions you ask and make sure they align with the level you're interviewing for. Your assumptions should demonstrate that you have a solid grasp of the fundamentals expected at your job title.
@@Wise_World this is solid advice for anyone interviewing anywhere. The more senior the role, the more strategic your questions need to be (as a candidate). Strategic also means prioritized.
What was tge question?
@@MeherDarji How would you improve a support call center for a tech product. If your friend was asking you advice to open a bakery what would your thought process be. but knowing the question is impossible because they can ask you anything. The process that she lines up in this video is the key. but if your going for a more senior position limit the number of questions and be strategic with what you ask.
This has helped me more than any other video I've watched. Ever. I even impressed the recruiter on a phone screen using this formula! Can you please do some interviews for BA, product manager, or product owner for a non faang company?
@@tech4ever1 I'm so glad this helped you!! I don't usually cover BA roles but I'm happy to consider making a BA video in the future!
Wish I had known about you videos several interview loops ago. Your content is AMAZING! I’m so grateful. Is the comp band the same as the salary range in job description?
Yes it is.
Very detailed and insightful information. Thank you so much!
@@daphnea8385 wonderful! Happy to help
I am struggling a bit with knowing which questions are appropriate to ask at the end of phone screenings with recruiters. Example: should I ask about the Contract company or the client I would work for? I tend to migrate towards questions that only the client company would be able to answer, like about the team I would work on. Any advice on this? This is a serious struggle for me and I have been searching for momths.. How much does a recruiter really know about the company or industry?
@@tech4ever1 sounds like you're interviewing for contract roles. It's a good idea to ask questions about both companies because both will impact you. You can assume recruiters know a lot about the role and the company, and if they hit a wall with their knowledge you can request that they follow up with the answers.
@@CoachErika Thank you :)
Hi, i applied for the Google Bold internship (Google Cloud) and I was wondering what type of questions do you think they'll ask me in regards to GCA and Behavioral?
@@realhtoenbaddie I can't share that information (even if I knew!), but this sounds like an amazing opportunity, and best of luck!
I should also add that I have already gotten a request to interview for this position!
@@CoachErika thank you so much!!!
The answer to the first question is missing.
?
When i play the video, the answer to the first question is missing. The video skips to the second question. Is it just my playback?
Start at 4:38 - tell me about a time when you got buy in for an idea.
Do you have any video talking about Commodity Management/Sourcing / Vendor Management roles?
No I do not, sorry!
Hi @Erika, thank you so much for this video and for breaking down how to approach answering interview questions. I really appreciate the effort and clarity you put into explaining the process. However, I wanted to offer a suggestion that I believe is still relevant today. The term “colonization,” even if not intended harmfully in this context, may not be the best choice. Historically, colonization has been tied to extremely painful and destructive events, including slavery. As someone of Black African descent, I feel it’s important to recognize these associations. If, in the future, humans plan to move and settle on another planet-especially if it’s uninhabited-a better term might be “migration,” “settling,” or “cultivating,” rather than “colonization.” I understand that your example was made in good faith, but offering suggestions from different perspectives can help build a more inclusive world for everyone. It does concern me that, even in 2023/2024, terms like “colonization” are sometimes used without deeper consideration of the history and impact they carry. It’s important for all of us to be mindful of the language we use, as it reflects the values and awareness of our surroundings and the organizations that shape us. Thank you again for your hard work and dedication in creating content that helps so many people. I truly believe that by engaging in thoughtful conversations like this, we can challenge outdated ideas, raise awareness, and inspire a more inclusive and understanding future. I’m confident that with creators like you leading by example, we can all contribute to a more thoughtful, empathetic, and progressive world. Sincerely, Yann
Hi, thank you for the video it is really helpfull. Can you suggest something for a fresher?
For fresh grads, focus on your career goals to start and then walk through any relevant experience you have, I've research or campus jobs or internships or co-ops.
Google posted on their website they are not longer asking brain teasing questions.
Correct. These are not brain teasers.
Thanks for the video. Your examples seem to be from the perspective of people who are high level or at the executive level. What about people who have beginner to mid experience levels and don't have the grandiose experiences in your answer examples? I think the reason these questions stump people is because they likely haven't experienced the situations before.
You have to answer the question with the closest experience you have that addresses the question, yes.
Thankyou so much Erika, I have good ideas now to handle these sorts of questions, they seem overwhelming and unsolvable at first!
Yay! Good luck!
Each step was explained in detail and was very helpful.
Yay! Glad this helped you!!!
Love your perspective. Treating the interviewer as a partner working through an impossible task together really makes me feel a lot more comfortable about this interview.
Thank you so much for commenting on your unlock! I never know which phrases will become the unlocks for people, so it's helpful to know what did it for each learner.
Hi there, I really like your content, but I have to ask a favor, which might be something that other listeners also think about it… That is your background music. I am so sorry for being so direct, but this is because I do like your guidance. However, the background music is too harsh and distracting - it makes it difficult to listen to you for 30-40mins. My two cents - when you speak, you honestly don’t need to play anything in the background. You have a beautiful and calming voice, that is sufficient for itself. If you really love to have a background music, then I’d like to suggest something very soft. Again, I am sharing this with you because I do like you and would like to continue listening to you. 😀 Thank you in advance for reading my comment and for considering my suggestion. Best, SD
Yes yes I've heard this a lot. Sadly it's not fixable on published videos, but I've made adjustments in future videos. Also, try watching without headphones. Headphones seem to amplify the BG noise disproportionately.
This is really helpful
Wonderful!
Hello Erika, I have an interview for an account executive engage position. What would you advise me, I an quite confident about myself but I would like to have a too for this exact role if you don’t mind 🙏🏻❤
How did it go?
Hey Erika, thanks for the info. I was considered by two teams by two different recruiters, on said to me that she hasn’t heard anything yet and that she will keep me posted, but the second one doesn’t respond my emails. Should I asume he ghosted me? Should I reach by phone?
It's always fair game to reach back out via the channels they've used to connect with you.
In a previous life I was an excellent ribbon dancer.
I was more of an amateur magician myself
Awesome thank you. So how would this go for DC tech roles? Same just more technical? I have my interview this Tuesday.
Same. How did it go?
Your videos and frameworks for answering are extremely useful. Thank you!
Wonderful! Glad to be helpful!
Great tips… Any tips for a desktop support/help desk specialist transition to Google data center hardware technician . I got called in for interviews in 2 weeks. 🎉
How'd it go?!!
@@CoachErika I didn’t get pass the technical portion so I’ll try again next year.
Music background is annoying and so distracting
Yep I know. Can't change it now. Try listening without headphones
Thanks for your tips! Great frameworks. I’ll apply these and let you know how it goes!
How's it going?
Thank you for sharing the knowledge Erika, I am getting back into the job market after 3 years and your videos gave me the confidence I needed to ACE the interview process.
You got this!
I am surprised that your channel and series have not gotten way more views like some other “louder” channels. You are the real deal. You are genuine and full of empathy and true professional insights, and very much under appreciated. I am glad that I am one of the few that found your invaluable contribution and amazing efforts to make me feel like I have a coach next to me to cheer me on. Please do not get discouraged by the views. You will get there and you have those of us to cheer you on. Please continue to do what you do. I am eternally grateful for your beautiful self and your work. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You make me feel less alone in this job searching ordeal. Blessings… ❤
This comment is so kind, thank you!! 😊
After every interview, I felt that I should have said it the other way or another example. Is this normal as we don’t have any right/ wrong answers to these questions
There are always ways to improve an answer, don't be too tough on yourself.
8:36 I defintely have!
Super helpful, thanks Erika!
You're so welcome!
This was really good for me. Help me a lot with my negotiation
Great news! Care to share any details on your outcome? Percentages are fine.
Hi Erika, I interviewed for a manager position for our competitors, they are building a new plant and are getting ready to run production next week. One of the top managers who interviewed me really like me, he came from the same company I am currently on and click right away, normally there is a f/u interview and he wave it. The next day the recruiter call me in morning and told me they really like and his putting an offer together. I did put a desire salary when I applied so I made the mistake. When the recruiter call me I asked what grade they are giving me. I went ahead research and if they offer what I asked it will be very low for the grade. I am still waiting for the offer
Thanks!
Thanks for the kind gesture! 🙌
Love this video to Mars and back
🚀
Extremely helpful!!
Thank you very much!!
good video, but as a starter, after viewing 1/3 of the video, not find a sample question at all...feel like building a house in the sky...
I'd like to better understand the feedback. Do you mean you are frustrated by the chapters? Or you wish I had provided a list of sample questions?
Thanks for the video but Henry Ford never invented a car.
Tell me more.
Hi Erika, first of all, many thanks for this video. I wonder why my recruiter didn't provide this information. Next week I am going to have the round of 3 interviews: rrk, gca and googliness. I'am applying for a TAM lead role. What type of GCA questions do you recommend me to study the most? Also, do you think it is to late for coaching?
Hey! Seeing your comment a bit and I'm curious how it went?
Hey! Likewise, Would you be able to share your experience about what type of GCA questions did you get? Also, how many questions do they generally ask in GCA interviews? Appreciate your help in anticipation! All the best 👍
I watching and loving but the background music is sooo loud ...
I know, so sorry 😬 and I can't fix it in YT. Appreciate the comment, well noted for future videos!
I have an interview for Google Data center tech. Im nervous because ive only had helpdesk jobs, nothing fancy. Ive never had an interview go from 45 mins 15 min break 45 more mins and 15 mins then finally 45 mins. Ive never sat and held a professional convo because I do help desk and they do not care about who you are. Your videos are very helpful. Thank you.
Hi Erica, I am interviewing at the firm next week and the role is in Finance Operations, the job is first in the country as they are trying to expand at different locations and it is directly with the hiring manager, what type of questions do expect and how to address those?
I'm definitely not a mind-reader and can't tell you exactly what to expect, but you should prepare to tell your career story and why you want this role. And most likely a number of behavioral questions based on your past experience.
Thanks Erica. If the comp band they share is below the lowest number once will aceept, should we just put an end to the conversation right then? Or continue with the process and try and negotiate later?
Depends on how far below your target it is. Most recruiters aren't going to give you the full band, since that sets you up to feel disappointed. They will instead share the portion of the band that is typical for new hires. Say the band is 100k to 150k but the company targets new hires coming in with room at the top of the band. The recruiter might share 100k to 125k with you. So there's still a possibility that you will be able to negotiate higher than the upper end of the band they share. But keep in mind that you don't always want to be at the top of the band. It can't make you look expensive (and vulnerable to layoffs) and if you are at the top of the band, you may not be eligible for comp increases.
😮😅 is this hypothetical question? Or Google would really ask about something so... imaginary?
It's real 👽🛸
Google does have multiple program management role profiles including t/PgM. I’d say they are closer to a CTO, whilst program managers (without the « t ») would be closer to COO. PgMs are often staffing the projects within their program(s) or portfolios of programs
could easily have been a 3 minute video
Helpful feedback, agreed. I was trying to speak slowly so that people who speak English as a second language wouldn't have to rewind and watch pieces over again, but the result is that the whole video comes off too slow. Definitely recommend watching this one on 1.2x or faster if you prefer.
Hi Erica, Thanks alot for this amazing video, the video helped me to understand the concept and got really good example question, I've applied for Salesforce Analyst role do you think I should be preparing all 3 types of questions?
I'm not super familiar with Salesforce analyst interviews, but I assume you should be prepared for some market sizing or other estimation questions, for sure.
