Do sell your pistols? I am a collector and would be interested in many I have seen on your channel.
Sorry, I don't sell the pistols.
Nice job. Soak in a good penetrating oil like kroil for a day will help those stubborn screws. Also a brass cleaning jag in a cordless drill helps card the tight areas of the frame.
No no no don't take the centre panel out
Sounds like a jet turbine starting to spool up in the background.
Yes, the washing machine, which I forgot was on!
It wasn’t loud or obnoxious. It was fine.
@@jeffheld3971 Thanks.
Hi, excellent work. I have one pistol like the one you are working on . I would like to collect some other versions, but having difficulty finding something at a fair price. Where do you find them ? Do you have any you are willing to part with. Kindly regards Karl
These pistols are fortunate to have fallen into the hands of Uncle Morris! And fortunate for we fans as well because we will be able to witness their transformation into their sweeter selves! Thanks Most Kindly! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
Just thought I would give you my method of removing frozen nipples. I first drilled it out to the largest Whitworth threading size the nipple could accommodate (I used Whitworth threads because they where the coarsest for their size) then screw in a correct size bolt with a loose nut, then tighten the nut down tightly on top of the nipple. From here you can heat the bolt far hotter than you could while the nipple is in the gun without the bolt. Also this method transfers the heat directly to the nipple threads then turn the bolt with a spanner or grips to remove the nipple, when all other methods failed this never did.
good job!🪛 奇妙なランプ!:))💡 傘が似合っていない;(☂
Magnificent restoration involving such patience and attention to detail. I thoroughly enjoyed your Post. Thank you 👍
Fun fact: in italian those are known as 'mazzagatti (shortening for ammazzagatti, which means "cat killer"). I have to believe some mfs used them to shoot at wild cats killing chickens and rabbits and that's how it got its name (let's be real, it's stupid to shoot at a cat with a shotgun if you don't wanna clean the mess afterwards)
Thank you for your excellent videos. You inspired me to fix a brass bodies sock pistol today. I think you should cap your pistols and make sure they fire: my understanding is you don’t need to put them on a firearms certificate for this.
A Lovely pistol and a Lovely restoration! Kind Thanks and Many Blessings! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
Nice job on the hammer
Great skill and awesome video.
Excellent video, very informative for an amateur like myself!
A beautiful piece with your Fine work! I’m always amazed by the Art, Craftsmanship and Creativity of antique firearms! Every detail was thought out with artistic spirit. Thank You So Much for sharing this pistol and your skills! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
Just a beautiful museum piece so well done! Kind Thanks and Many Blessings! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
A Lovely little pistol and I enjoyed every minuet and ThankYou Kindly! I was working along with you having done work like this for myself. Old and simple pistols like this have a historical beauty worthy of restoration. Thanks Again! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video.
the idea of striking a punch is hitting it with the hammer face FLAT and you won't bend the punch....obviously you don't have a drill or removing the hammer pin would have been simple.... you can probably weld the spring and then re temper it . a 69 cal derringer would be nice to have for me ! I carried a 41 cal for years loaded with the cap on , all I had to do was cock and fire it. I did put a step in the hammer as a precaution/safety position. so it could not go off if it was hit.... cap and ball firearms are very reliable . balls can be purchased in a variety of sizes too... I used the pressed in method for my gun I just used a 45cal ball and drove it in with a hammer till it was sitting on the 60 grains of powder I never had a misfire with that gun in all the years I owned it ! it was my back pocket carry gun for about 5 years ! one shot is better than none ! and 41 cal would stop the biggest mugger....
good job!🔫 I have 3 guns so this is very helpful!🔫🔫🔫 However, only 1 was fixed.🔫;)
Great video. Interesting how similar the design of pistols of this period are. If it works, stick with it I suppose.
Did the practice of holding your gun sideways to shoot originate with these cheap and plentiful box lock pistols? Seems like it may have been the only option to get any kind of rudimentary sighting plane.
I very much like your manual gunfitting talent. I'd like to see you working on a Queen Anne screw barrel pistol. What is your fave type of regular sized muzzleloader pistol? I have an affinity to the Scottish pistols with the solid brass stocks. I wonder why they evolved? There must be a very good reason as I don't think such a design developed in any other country.
Morris - your "LINK" sadly seems NOT to work for me .. But Thanks for showing us your conservation efforts.
Good job preserving history mate
Thanks
Good job to be sure but not all history deserves to be preserved. Poor quality piece this as far as I can see.
@@danhubert-hx4ss Yes, cheap and not so cheerful!
@@danhubert-hx4ss which makes me appreciate it even more that he is willing to spend his time on them
@@rgbgamingfridge As long as it`s not TOO much time.
Can't beat Warby's. They are cheap, but they don't pretend to be anything else.
Mine is the same single action doesnt work, the previous owner bobbed the hammer because of it. Its a beaumont adams that looks like the original adams in terms of hammer which is nice
The Spring looks like a blacksmith job, they should have a finer light spring.
Your jokes are loud and unnecessary. Otherwise great video!
Hi, What do you use for welding up material? I had same problems with Boot pistols and the guys who can welled say, No we can't as material will melt away and not hold.
Cal .69 is indeed military caliber, I have dragoon pistols and muskets equal to this.
I absolutely love this channel. great work!
Great work
Great video Morris
Another good presentation. I'm sceptical to the originality of that massive mainspring, I've never seen one as thick as that. I'm guessing it's a poor attempt at making the hammer throw more powerful - which can actually do damage to the notches on the hammer by wearing them down.
Thanks, I think you maybe right.
@@morriscarstairs2685 All.the pistols I've owned have just had bog standard mainspring. That looked like a cut down spring from a musket of something like that.
good job!🔫 I always watch videos.🔫 This was helpful!🔫
Great video! Judging by the bore size, it probably was a manstopper. Any idea on what the ballistics might have been like?
That's a wrist breaker for sure.
maybe it didnt fire a solid ball "but probably could do" i think it could have been something like a shotgun or blunderbuss "full of tacks or salt/grit small lead shot/bird shot or something like that.
@@inspectorcal I'd definitely be loading a big patched lead ball!
@@FAKEtrailers2 ha ha yeah i think i would risk that as well. but i would always have a 45 1911 as back-up lol
@@inspectorcal if I could carry I'd be packing a queen anne
Wow! That's a 14 or 15 gauge bore size! That's huge! Great video, as always!
Thanks.
Your nipple wrenchs are awesome.
I find with heavily rusted parts I can't budge it helps if I pre-soak them in WD-40 and leave them drenched in it overnight. Doesn't always work, but has helped me shimmy and work rusted things loose. There's also those solutions that also eat away at rust which might help, but I've never tried them personally.
I had to close my eyes when it fell out of the vice.Vice. Maybe a thin washer made of brass would put the barrel in alignment?
Very ingenious
Great repair work
You have put me to shame. I made a Classic Arms duckfoot kit and I thought I was big stuff. Great video.
That was awesome
Great work
Promo*SM
these guns should be perfect except for wear and tear and age that sometimes make them fail, but they have to be proofed to make sure they work. what you have there i think is something that someone has cobbled together and not even tested to see if it works, because you had to make these parts work together as one, when they are probably from different guns.
Nice man
Gosh, that's making a spring the hard way... I just forge them on the anvil....
Great, can you make a video showing us how you do it?
