Heat is the key. I just boil water in a big pot and dunk the cable (not the connectors though) for half a minute, then the kinks are gone.

I plugged my adapter into my phone before opening the camera app and now it just makes clicking noises. Does anyone know if I need to get another adapter and start over for mine to work?

Thank you so much for noting the correct sequence! (First set the camera to video, then connect to audio.) I just had to trash some videos because the sound kept cutting out. You have saved me a ton of time trying to figure out what was happening and how to fix it.

Russ, I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on using GarageBand on my phone I like to use my mics. All the tutorials that I read are too extensive. What I need is a simple result in recording vocal and guitar. And then layering other acoustic instruments if I get that then I know I can go further into it. Keeping it basic like you did this video explaining everything was very very helpful. You rock.

Pretty sure that the interface needs to be 'Class compliant'. Tried M Audio Torq Conectiv interface (a very old one I know!) and this powers on but doesn't seem to work. Hoping my Zoom H4 Essential will work when it arrives next week...

Used a hair dryer but same concept. Had a vacuum cord that drove me absolutely bonkers. Now it unravels and stretches out normally again

need help. I bought some of this stuff and my interface doesn't have the adapter usb cable. I have 2 fifine microphones and used the big cable going to the interface. the mics aren't turning on. I have the focusrite 2i2 3rd gen. I used the usb cable that comes with that one but I'm so lost.

ill have to try this. every time I buy something the cable is tightly bunched up with a twist tie. My new lamp cord refuses to lay flat on the ground and stay near the wall. Ill have to try this and see if I can get it to lay flat. Seems like it should work to get rid of the kinks from the packaging in the cable.
