I've never heard of this story before. hanks for bringing it to my attention. I was hoping to dust off my Smyth & revisit my college days of reading Ancient Greek. No such luck. While I'm here, can you please point me in the direction of some good Bulgarian novelists? Perhaps from the early to mid-20th C? I am a huge fan of Balkan music & would like to expand my grasp of this culture. I will happily check out your other offerings.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked my video. As for a Bulgarian author from that period, the safe choice would be Aleko Konstatinov. I would personally go however with the melancholic but wondrous Yordan Yovkov.

@@BackwaterLibrarian Thanks for the suggestions, although it appears Yovkov doesn't have anything that has been translated into English. So, I have added a more contemporary Georgi Gospodinov The Physics of Sorrow. Keep up the great work on your channel.

You're welcome. A fine choice, Gospodinov would be a good option for a contemporary author. As for the Ancient Greek, I feel you. I also full-on studied it at university, but haven't had the time to come back to it since. With a good dictionary and grammar at hand I find it to be still serviceable though. 😉 Thank you for your encouragement and support. 😊

I'm an American living in the state of Arizona one of the current hot spots for what we generally refer to as "the immigration issue". I have no university thesis to drop in your comment section. My experience has been that America is a nation of immigrants who love to complain about other immigrants. The groups change overtime but the conversation is always the same.

I haven't read ALL of his stories, but the ones I have read were entertaining/interesting, but for some reason I find Lovecraft's biography far more compelling than his stories. I have heard of Lovecraft's name most of my conscious life, but I don't remember WHY or WHEN I felt the need to read some of his stories, I do know that my interest in him is fairly recent, but NOT "fanatical" by any stretch of any imagination. If you like things "Lovecraftian", I recommend checking out the graphic novel entitled "Neonomican" by Alan Moore and Jacen Burrows....You're welcome.😉 PS Your accent wasn't a problem for me--interesting video/presentation, thank you for your efforts.

@@BackwaterLibrarian It's a "comic book" with much more PATHOS than "comedy", but I think even Mr. Howard Philips Lovecraft himself would have been much impressed with the work. The ARTWORK alone is stunning.
