Great vid!!! Do you provide a tutorial on best practices when firing sterling silver components embedded in fine silver clay?

Glad you enjoyed it. No I'm afraid we don't have any advice on firing silver components embedded in the clay. We do have some info on firing stones embedded in clay here www.jewellersacademy.com/blog/2023/a-guide-to-firing-gemstones-in-place-with-metal-clay You may find someone like cool tools has some advice on firing embedded elements if you search online x

This was inspirational. I am a bookbinder who is planning on doing some metalwork for my books and am transitioning to be more eco-centred and ethical, such as recycled paper and not using any plastic beads in my jewellery so it was an interesting video to see how someone else is transitioning to become more fully ethical.

Ok, me again. I have a question for Nicole about the whole mass thing. I've learned over the years that you CAN succeed over mass heating. I find that if I go in hot and fast, and don't burn up the flux by longer lower heat (fear), using a higher heat braising flux called Stay-Silv, heat will transfer locally and flow solder. Any thoughts? There is a school of thought that diverges from the "heat the whole thing" technique. I'm digging into that.....

"Set myself apart from the masses". I actually thought she said (and I totally agreed), "set myself apart from the MESSES." Wow, so true, both. This is how, as an artist, you set yourself apart; learn (for more than a couple minutes), practice and do GOOD fabrication. No slop, or as Lexie Erickson says, "Don't show me shoddy work, and call it 'rustic.'" Love what Nicole has done, and is doing. About the best possible model for your daughter, don't worry, she'll go the other way and won't even know you for at least 50 years. Sigh...those rascally independent thinkers, dang! Gotta love em!

Nominative determinism… I would be very interested in a TH-cam tutorial on using heat-sinks. How to avoid firescale when melting and reticulating? Fascinated by the fine silver puddling. I wonder if you could use that to create a flatter surface on top of the Sterling balling. Gonna find out!
