My favorite
Stumbled upon this vid trying to recapture the zeitgeist of growing up in the 80s with a (now retired) Chrysler dealer as an uncle. My first car was a gun metal blue pearl coat 1987 New Yorker I had to have it when his neighbor died, her stayed on her husband until he sold it to me.
That is a beautiful little car. At one time Chrysler has the most beautiful car with all the chrome accents. Love the digital gauges wait I had no idea it had voice notification.....
Very cool. Lots work to stuff that hemi in there.
Oh I thought you meant 426 Hemi
Sweet 66 B-body wagon. Cool
Why didn't you build up the k member and lower the car onto that? Just curious
@@btolley100 I do it that way on restorations. I was just dropping the motor in on this one. I was unaware of how much beating the tunnel was going to take. I should have mocked this up before buying the torque converter, I would have gone with a different transmission. The Roadrunner will be done the way you are asking about
Bore a hole in one of your forks on the forklift and bolt a hitch ball to it, life will be much easier and safer. Cool video, thanks for sharing.
Beatrice and Bernard made a video comeback!!!
I know people are bashing K-cars these days, but that's actually a very nice sedan to drive around in. And it looks sharp in white. The interior comfort (and quality) far exceeds that of many 'luxury' cars today. And the many shared components meant cheap and widely available parts. Cool find!
Ok
If you dont want to fuck with pulling a bushing with bread i just run a big fucking tap through it and it pushes it right out
@@cowthedestroyer I reused it in the new engine though. Just passing on some of the old tricks that have been passed down to me.
@@Mopoor1984 i wouldnt ever reuse a bushing thats like asking for trouble. They are like $1.60 last time i checked. There is cheap and there is stupid
@@cowthedestroyer spend your money how want, that’s why it’s yours. You can very easily see wear on a bushing and can very easily measure it. My thoughts are why buy something I don’t need.
One day I sware to you l will have one of these rare beauties
I had one back in the day (dad’s old car). The digital HVAC was a peach. Set the heat to 72 and when it reached operating temp, it would shut the heater core off and let in ambient temp air…right on your leg. Driving down the NY State Thruway in January was epic with 11 degree F air blowing on my foot. The only way to combat that ‘feature’ was to crank it to 85 degrees and open the window. Plush and floaty and nice seats tho. The motor moved pretty well too.
Love those styles of rear ends. So easy to work on. No C clip or crush sleeve bullshit, swap gears in a short while.
@@chrisrossman9566 same here Chris! Good design, easy to work on.
Get two friends, drive it from coast to coast.
that car is almost as big as your dog~!!!
Id get rid of the polly 318 for sure, but i think a better bang for the buck is a 360 magnum or 360 late 80s with the roller cam, keep the 727 and some highway gears and drive it anywhere.
Your legs look great in this video.
He's not skipping leg day for sure.. Ha
Growing up, the pastor of the Word of Faith church we went to drove one of these in white- which by the way was paid for by the church. His wife drove a red Fiero. He ended up divorcing his wife and hooked up with the church secretary who drove a beater Chevette. Later there was an ad on the church bulletin board of a used "late model" Chrysler New Yorker for sale.
I want that talking car. Chrysler was incredible in the mid 80s era..
How much?
@@davidreinhart7616 my son saw the car and fell in love with it. He is now the proud owner.
K car luxury at its least....sounded like ...Danger Will Robinson... Danger...Danger...
There's nothing Mitsubishi about this car whatsoever. Everything is Chrysler.
I absolutely love Chryslers. The era of cars From about 75 to 93 vinal tops I adore... But from that era of cars from Cadillac to Oldsmobile to Pontiac ,buicks ,Mercury's ,Lincolns..The most beautiful car I have ever seen out of all of those Was a 1975 Chrysler imperial LeBaron I mean it looks like it was absolutely made for royalty..!!! Just a gorgeous gorgeous car..!!!!
Is it for sale?? lol
@@markvmeeker892 my son saw it and fell in love with it. He is now the proud owner. There will be more of her on the channel.
Nice car....Lucky for you, it didn't have the mitsubishi motor in it..........
Seems like I've seen another car on YT called Betty White. Betty sure does get around. 😎
Brings back memories. I had the same one in navy with navy blue leather interior.
Omg I LOVE these stupid cars hahahaha ❤❤❤

I had one of these. I bought it with 24K original miles on it. It was a great car, but those thin tires aren't quite enough for the car. They would squeal even around the slightest curve in the road.
Why is this so hilarious? This was and still is a great car. 🤦♂️ Guess you had to be there.
I've always liked these from new and still today. If I came upon a nice clean one, I'd buy it.
i am OVER THE MOON on the BABY YORKER!
This version NYer were ubiquitous in their day! They sold like crazy. If I could get a car like that now I'd buy it in a heartbeat just for the interior. Where/how did you ever find it?
My wife’s uncle has been storing it away for years. I have been bugging him to sell it to me for a while.
@@Mopoor1984 Beatrice is adorable!! Your NYer is surprisingly rust free, which is surprising as they were kind of rust prone. Keep that car for life.
My aunt had this car brand new I loved it
They were nice until they started using the garbage K-Car unibody. Ruined the whole line.
So a couple of things not accurate about what you said . First the 2.2 turbo was rated at 146 horse power which was really good for the time and second these cars never came with air ride so if the air ride still works on this car that's amazing. According to the factory brochure the car could have come with gas filled struts/shock absorbers and with the sport handling ( recommended with 2.2L turbo) included gas filled struts/ shock absorbers, firm feel quick ratio steering. You could also get electronic height control rear load leveling. But no where in the dealer brochure does it say anything about air ride. I would also say that the turbos often went bad on the 2.2 turbo engines so it's better to have the standard 2.5L EFI it was more reliable and gave you 101 horse power which was ample for those cars. I had a 1987 Plymouth Caravelle with the 2.5L which was the same size car and same platform for that matter and it got ample power out of that engine.
The electronic height control you speak of is a switch on the rear straight axle that turns on a compressor that provides air to raise the rear of the vehicle. Air ride may not be the proper terminology it was more like auto leveling.

2:00 There's something very familiar about all this....!
Very nice 😊
Agreed!
Style wise, one of the most hodgepodge designs for an automobile ever. Nothing looks like it belongs together ! From the roof line to the awful bumpers. What a mess !
An over rated K-Car what sad example of a Chrysler Product
I still think the talking feature would be helpful in modern times because we are so distracted
I agree with you. But my wife would feel like it was telling her what to do! :)
Pretty car. I love how it talks about warnings and reminders. A friend of mine had an 88; K-car, but it was a cheaper model than the New Yorker, but it did the same "talking." Your dogs are beautiful; please have someone watch them the next time you back a car out!
I promise that the dogs are seasoned shop dogs and stay stay safely away from moving vehicles, and my wife was there watching the dogs while I backed the car. She won't allow anything to happen to her spoiled pets. The fur babies appreciate you looking out for them. They make random appearances in several of my videos.
My baby sitter had a black on black 86. I believe she won that car in a contest.
I had to pay for this one, but can you imagine winning a car in a contest!!! That's a dream for sure.
ohhh this is a dream car right here
For some of us it sure is!
Came for the New Yorker, stayed for Beatrice!!!!
Our girl Beatrice is a shop staple. She makes frequent guest appearances in my videos. She likes to "help" me out.
