what can be done with a few KB of memory. There is less data here than in a JPG photo.

This demo shows, in some sense, the progress made over more than 40 years in (software) computer graphics and music, starting with the first C64 from 1982. Back in those days, we had 2D, not-so-good-looking games and intros, but today we see (I point out main effects): 0:31 3D realtime terrain animation 1:10 3D shape smooth animated , and 2D shadowed moving-skew text 1:40 3D smooth animated tetrahedron, cube and cube with eye animation 2:40 3D smooth animated wave floor 3:10 rotating 3D disc 3:43 realtime animated 3D Rubik’s cube on a moving background 4:35 Smoothly animated and soft shadowed twisted 3D cube on a generated, plasma-like moving background 5:41 Realtime animated dark wasp-like 3D shape in a moving 3D hex-space with color 7:12 smootch Robot movie (3D scene) 7:42 smootch 3D tunnel 8:02 smootch fullscreen animated 3D girl shape 9:57 smootch animated Matrix-style green rain in 3D The machine-the C64-is still the same, but the progress in this cyberpunk intro is evident.

A lot of work here! C64 assembly is quite clean but not easy to do this.

This rocks.

The full screen 3d animations look impressive, then I thought about it, and it's probably a low-rez precalc expanded to dither patterns with the lag effect. Still, that would run at 25fps and use all the CPU. It's very effective. The dither hides the true rez well.
