How to obtain the Black Mesa Decathlon Winner achievement in Black Mesa. Saving negates this achievement, so don't save while you're in this map to unlock the achievement. If you want to quickly load the map, and don't want to play from the start of interloper chapter, enable developer console and type in "map bm_c4a3a1" without the quotation marks.

Where to find the gas needed to complete The Plan and Unquestionably Ethical achievements in Black Mesa and complete the achievements themselves. I'd highly recommend doing this achievement along with Post-Mortem Interval and Prillific Popper, as one Protozoan and one of the boied needed for those achievements are only accesible if you bring the gas canister with you.

I played my first playtrough on ranger hardcore and had an amazing time. Idk how they balance everything so well, but the combat and resource management was so good
you played regular hardcore. Ranger hardcore is only available as part of the new game+.
you got caught in a lie, you can't play ranger hardcore on your first playthrough, its only available in new game plus. i highly doubt you even played it in regular hardcore or hard. you played it on the easiest setting and lied that you played it on hard difficulty to make people think you're a good gamer noob

2 missed shots in Ranger Hardcore is an instant death
he actually had a plenty of time to get to cover but he didn't. now imagine trying to peek from behind cover but immediately getting lasered the moment your shoulder exits cover and dying
I just bought this game 3days ago. I really like the feeling of this difficulty (I played this difficulty for my first playthrough). Right now I'm at the fourth map. Man it was really pain in the ass. Shooting wasn't an option I had to stealth all the time . I was really enjoying it . But it was really unfair it is not realistic at all I got one shot from a guy he was so far away(even with 6x scope i barely see him)I was at the top of the crane ,and he saw me for like 1s and then I got 1 shot the question is how could he see me I couldn't see shit on my screen . Yeah and one thing it don't really like is that I die from fall damage many time it wasn't high all .

This achievement wasn't super hard once you know you can't autosave, but I still found it pretty nervewracking in the few runs it took.

Man, I dont think any human can run that fast and for that long time in real life on the regions like this. Gordon Freeman is surely something more just than a physicist.
Gordon would surely have died a long time ago, if he's still alive it's because of the HEV suit and because G-Man wanted it that way.
I quicksaved before the event happened, at the ledge just before you drop down, and it still invalidated this. The console command to load was perfect, thanks very much.

Fun fact: This achievement was made based off my playtesting, along with the gonad glider achievement which directly references my steam handle. Originally, there were no extra floating rocks to jump on either so you had to get up on one of the rocks and do a perfect airstrafe jump to do it
I thought I had to grenade jump past that entire island, around the rocks and all the way down to the hound eyes lol.
Honestly this is completly awful, the only way something like this works is in games with inventory systems, where you have to give up a slot to carry the item.

I managed to fenagle the other two through some *ahem* means, but I can't seem to get Unquestionably Ethical because odd invisible walls prevent me from being able to jump away from the final boss fight area at all
I'm frustrated because my laptop with Nvidia 740M can't handle the bu||sh¡t game even in the lowest settings 😤

It's not just that quick saving negates the achievement. You have to return to a save made before the loading screen previous to this area. This is the key to unlocking the achievement.
Idk if it's your graphic's settings, but the cyanogen particle effect looks so cheap.
Bruh this entire time there was a gas canister at Xen? I thought you had to get the gas canister from the place where you first get snarks
Thanks for showing me these achievements. I'll never have the time to do them. The gas cannister one in Xen is worth it I think. If it stopped bugging out on me.
If you use F6 before the "Loading..." of the map, it works. Just do it after the curve runing up to the river.

I do so love this little puzzle. The Plan worked my fellow scientists, your sacrifice was not in vain.
I just love how in We've Got Hostiles, Blast Pit, and Power Up you only have to leave the hat somewhere while finishing the level and it's that easy but in On A Rail you have to bring it with you on that train ride.
Honestly I had a way easier time with the pizza cause it was much harder to lose track of (it was large, didnt roll like the ducking hat, heavier so shockwaves didnt move it that much...also you only had to carry it around for 7 chapers) ladders and those damn vents still sucked tho but oh well P.s the cryogen bottle sucks too but its easier than the hat atleast and only for one albeit looooong chapter. These devs really have a thing for these dumb physics object tortures
Is it possible to get Rarest Specimen, and Pepperoni Precipitation in the same playthrough? I worry that you can only take one to Xen at a time, or that there is a moment where it would be impossible to take both.
People have tried and from what I remember they all (or most) got stuck at one point or another. I remember someone getting stuck at the gargantua chase I think? So while I can't be 100% sure it's not possible, carrying both sound really annoying and I think it might just be faster to do them separately. Or bring both as far as you can without it being too bothersome so you can then do the 2nd run from a later point in the game.
