Beginning Fabrication - Episode 17 - Transferring holes! Final episode of the series.
มุมมอง 2.1K6 ปีที่แล้ว
In this episode I show how I mark/transfer holes that have to overlay each other. There's many ways to do this but this is a way I use fairly often and doesn't need any fancy tools or accurate measurements. This is the last episode of this series for now. I may do another season one day but I think there's plenty of other good youtube vids that can take it from here. I really wanted to cover th...

Beginning Fabrication - Episode 14 - Let's cut out more rust!!
มุมมอง 2.1K6 ปีที่แล้ว
In this episode of Beginning Fabrication we take a look at making sure you cut out more than enough rotten metal when doing a basic rust repair. This is a simple single skin repair, so if you want to see a more involved, multi layer repair, take a look at the sill work on Episode 12. I've had a few people asking me to show more about the bead roller and english wheel but there's already a lot o...
A slideshow showing how an XY got saved from the scrap heap!
มุมมอง 66K6 ปีที่แล้ว
This slideshow shows a job I did a few years ago to save an XY Falcon from becoming dust. It's a pretty brief look as there were so many repairs needed the slideshow would be three hours long to show it all. I hope you enjoy it and I hope it makes you feel good knowing your car (hopefully) isn't as buggered as this was. I used aftermarket door skins, outer sills, front floors, front guards and ...
Here's another slideshow of some of the projects I've done with my daughter
มุมมอง 1.2K6 ปีที่แล้ว
This slideshow is more for me than for anyone else but I'm proud of the little projects I do with Amy so figured a little slideshow would be fun. As usual the music is by me, but Amy helped on these tracks so I like them even more! Thanks for watching!

มุมมอง 1.5K6 ปีที่แล้ว

Beginning Fabrication 10.5 - This time showing the shrinkage!
มุมมอง 8806 ปีที่แล้ว
In Episode 10 I did some shrinking in the Torana engine bay but forgot to film it. In this episode I filmed myself shrinking the other side. I only did it this morning so I've done a very poor (Same as always I guess haha) edit job. The audio all over the place but I wanted to get this uploaded as quickly as possible. Thanks for watching!
Beginning Fabrication - Episode 10 - Let's shrink stuff!
มุมมอง 1.2K6 ปีที่แล้ว

Again the music is by me and is available through iTunes, Spotify, Googleplay etc under the name Tim Johnston. Thanks for watching!
Beginning Fabrication - Episode 9 - Shaping more metal with a pipe and hammer!
มุมมอง 1.1K6 ปีที่แล้ว
In this episode I shape a piece of sheetmetal into a compound curve in the start of smoothing a Torana engine bay. All I use to make the shape is a piece of pipe, a hammer and an old panel beating dolly. Feel free to subscribe to my channel and comment any suggestions you'd like me to cover in future episodes! I see you've done a brilliant job! A massive job! I watch Fitzies Fabrications and he cuts nothing out until after he's used the as is for the template, then cut n butt the new section in. No guessing/ working out how the new bit should be. All with simple tools
Hell of a great job 38 years iv had my HG rust free
Good video, my xy is as rusty as yours
This shows every rusted to shit house car can be done most places would have said it's a lost cause can't be done well U proved them all wrong n saved thet Monaro from the crusher great stuff
Love it the whole thing is beautiful I’ve done similar to a xr not xy falcon I remade the whole rear speaker panel on the bead roller and rear window opening sections like yours my quarter panels and A pillars were ok i put the car on a chassis rack measured the side lengths to hold the gaps with chains while I remade new inner sill panels put the beads in the same spots as the old rusted ones repaired the inner talk boxes while front floor pans were out one side at a time replaced the whole inner sill then the outer sill panels I found by welding small pull tabs on the tops of outer sill I used a pull clamp and slide hammer to get the outer sills to go up back in line with the bottom of the pillars and rear dog legs then tack welded them in place trial fitted the doors then welded the outer sills in place was a huge job after that I welded all new floor pans in I was lucky my xr falcon wasn’t as rusted as your xy .. love seeing someone else doing a good job man
Man that is patience and perseverance at its best, well done.
Wow! What a job! Great work saving a classic!
Please turn that music OFF.
Very nice work. There was a bloke in Bayswater North who is now retired made complete quarter panels for these out of 1 sheet.Took about 80 hours of work
... Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe.
Wow now that alot of work there blood sweat and tears 😢
Good video but you could of literally dubbed in the moans from a gay bath house and have it be less gay than the music you picked.
👍👍
Wow... that's it Wow!
Tim , you are a magician mate 🍻
Cool
Forgot to say he could possibly make aftermarket and make a killing.
This man has skill, patience and toys.
That has to be the most mental amazing resto ever!
Stunning. Just stunning👌👌👌
Awesome build would love to pick you brain about a few things.
Happy to help if I can.
Find a random spot in space and build a car around it. This guy isnt even using a chassis jig.
1 less classic car not being turned into a toaster definitely cant say the same about my mazda 929
What happened to this car?
Fantastic job mate, is the paint papaya? Kindest regards
Your work is incredible. I keep coming back to this vid in admiration. And the car is insane as well. Do you recall the wheel sizes by chance?
It's always good to see someone resurrecting the old xy falcons.nice job can't wait to see it when done

Every trick in the book. Wonderful trade craft
It's awesome seeing someone that knows what they are doing saving a rusty classic!! How many cars have ended up in the scrap heap where they could've been saved ??

I turned the 'music' off and enjoyed the video much better... Excellent work.
Where did you find such a rusted out relic. It looks like it's been pulled out of the river after spending some years in it.
My favourite..the best of the HOLDENS,,the most evilest shape known to a car...lol..ya goofy m8te from Australia
Wow,great video on a job well done.Looks like a lot of work but easier if you know what you,re doing.
Beautiful!
Just think! if the owners had only periodically sprayed the cavities with fish oil and kept it in the cheapest tin garage!
Not that a dollar value is what I mean but how much would this genius have invested in time and parts.
So much work. It come up mint! Thanks for sharing 😍

You're a legend Tim! I've picked up a lot watching your videos and listening very well to your advise, take the rest of the day off mate 👍
I don't mind doing a few rust repairs but this is WHAT , I would not have taken it on ,. well done
Thats ridiculous, the amount of work in that, and you wouldn't get it all and theres just somewhere waiting to rust through. Could have done it 30yrs ago but would have put it in too hard basket.
much better with that music turned off .
Hey mate, bloody nice work! What's the music I need to get some?
That is some extraordinary tin bashing there mate.Well done.
