I am standing in the triangle when I break the first triangle hand, it doesn't look like it because I walked forward into the triangle attack as soon as it spawned, but you can see one of the edges of the triangle to my right. You are correct with your understanding of the mechanics, it just didn't look like I was standing in the attack.

@@ninety-eight9855 Thank you for the clarification! I'm learning running in this encounter (not trying to do solo yet) so this is very helpful. For instance I was not aware of the usefulness of a bow and SMG combo :D

its not rocket science... bungie could add a special final stand buff if only 1 person is alive, or some sort of conditional where if you are solo you get a buff on final stand. there are ways they can unnerf this without affecting the rest of the normal 6 man attempts.

Completely forgot about the new rotation from bog/vendetta, you're absolutely right. I'll try messing around with that for sure, thanks for pointing it out.

@@MachinX it involves timing your transcendence grenades to have the witness "frozen" when you are shooting your Caydes shot. check out bogonmydog for his 10.4 mil damage rotation to see the rotation

@@ninety-eight9855if you put on anti barrier sniper rounds doesn’t that give a damage boost as well? Azetrcross said something like that a while ago

@@PJSteMarie If that is the case, then I was unaware of that. I was using anti-barrier sniper here as well, though I didn't know it provided a damage boost.

@@ninety-eight9855 This is only the case on master i believe because of overcharge weapon, shouldn't affect normal witness

Good luck with your DPS rotation cooking, I really hope a new solo strat emerges! Also, the reason why I didn't get that last goldy shot was because my shoot to loot timing was awful, I typically am able to get in both rockets, a radiant dodge, and a golden gun there, but I spent way too long getting those two bricks. You can definitely go for two rockets and the golden gun.

Getting the chance to scope in and hit all crits against the first boss while there's adds surrounding you and the boss is flinching you is annoying. Using dragon's breath makes things very clean for the second boss as it causes the boss to constantly stagger, if you're using still hunt, more often than not it creeps up to the lantern very quickly and things can get annoying. You definitely could use still hunt for the final boss if you wanted, but dragon's breath just makes things so easy, and being able to run a rocket sidearm without double special-ing is very nice.

Yeah that makes sense to me.

You have to wait for your sword's energy meter to fill up a decent bit, then you can hold guard to enter lament's chainsaw stance and immediately start attacking. The reason many people wait for the meter to fill up is because the amount of attacks you can do in the chainsaw stance is dependent on much energy you had when you activated it. The optimal combo is 2 chainsaw light attacks, 1 chainsaw heavy attack, and 2 normal attacks.

@ninety-eight9855 fuuuuck I've been doing 2 attacks 1 heavy two light but I wait for it to be full before I hold the charged attack again. Damn I've actually been throwing damage away

It's not the best class item roll, ideally you would want spirit of the caliban over any other perk. It's definitely still doable with your class item, but having spirit of the caliban does make things quite a bit easier.

You get super energy back from dealing damage to enemies (although it's reduced for heavy and special weapons), so a decent chunk of the super energy was just from doing damage to the boss. I was also getting quite a few melee kills per phase to reactivate radiant, and with heavy handed + the helmet mod that gives super for powered melee kills, I got a decent bit of a super back from melees. Also, the fact that Dragon's Breath is a DOT (damage over time) weapon seems to help, as there's a lot more instances of damage on the boss going on in the background than if I would've used something like a normal rocket, so my super was consistently charging during damage.

If you're referring to doing all of the mechanics solo, it's a bit more annoying to do so with six players purely because the triangle attack from the hand in the sky won't always spawn directly on top of you. However, it's still very much possible, just a little more annoying in that regard. It's definitely quite a bit easier with six players as well, just because you can have players dedicated to killing the left subjugator so it can't suspend you.

The perk that allows you to go very fast using a sword is called eager edge and the sword that I used here is called the other half which is the sword that can drop from playing dares of eternity (it can randomly roll with the perk eager edge and can be crafted). Eager edge essentially states that whenever you first draw the sword, it gains increased lunge range (with a short cooldown between activations). The technique that allows you to go super fast with this sword is as follows: draw the sword to activate eager edge, jump, light attack (swing the sword), and then swap weapons. If you swap your weapon after light attacking, you conserve momentum from the attack and can start moving around very quickly.

Although it is a 3 player activity, bungie fully intends for it to be completable solo, and incentivizes solo and solo flawless clears by rewarding a unique emblem for a solo flawless clear of the dungeon. Also, it's just an activity in the game that's a bit challenging and solo-able, so I don't see why somebody who enjoys a challenge and solo gameplay wouldn't do this solo.

There's a ton of people that have beaten 6 player raids solo

Blueberries will see you clear a 3 man activity by yourself and go "This hunter doesn't have friends"

​@gallavanting2041 if I had to pick a godslayer title or a dungeon title player I would 10/10 always pick the dungeon player since for titles you need a solo clear and a master making for challenging then phanteon.

Why solo? It's an achievement. You get rewards for doing it solo. Is this bait?

I used the strand rocket sidearm for boss dps purely because it was strand surge, otherwise I would've most likely opted to use mountaintop + dragon's breath for dps for the second and third encounter with little other changes to their loadouts (now with surges gone, I would definitely replace the strand sidearm for mountaintop during dps). To be completely honest, I think I would go back to the drawing board completely for the first encounter, probably electing to use either the broken grapple melee build or just stick to mountaintop and dragon's breath. Although it's not the best for damage, mountaintop is such a consistent and easy to use weapon and dragon's breath typically does a good job at stunning + providing damage over time.

@@ninety-eight9855I did second boss solo w euphony, arc rocket, and the gloves for arc soul and devour aspect. For some reason, the arc soul kills trigger and retrigger devour so easy to stay alive

@@Hovss Didn't think of using that setup, but it seems like it worked well for you! I still don't have euphony, but I've only heard good things about it. Getaway artist arc soul is definitely a strong build on prismatic warlock, I can see why it made surviving not too bad.

Good to know, I'll have to try that setup out at some point!

Yup, although, I'd say the -5 power level to all enemies doesn't actually make staying alive all that much harder, especially on hunter with the caliban class item (can definitely see why it would be harder without it though). The worst part of it by far is definitely the reduced damage to bosses, near perfect dps phases nowadays barely rival mediocre dps phases last season sadly. Definitely a lot more annoying this season than last.

Yep, just noticed that. I was running grace with khvostov earlier and just forgot to swap off before clearing this. Good point.

I just found still hunt nighthawk to be far less consistent for damage for the first two encounters. It would almost certainly be better for the final encounter, but dragon's breath + rocket sidearm is so much easier to play, even if it may be worse.

Plus I find that giving that special ammo slot up in those crazy encounters to be a challenge with things get hairy

You could run a normal sword like falling guillotine, but you may die while trying to do DPS. I'd say either use a similar dragon's breath + special weapon setup that I used for the other two bosses or, if you know how to execute it, I would recommend the absurd grapple melee build that hunters have that can one phase this boss.
