Old School Runescape is Changing Everything

Project Zanaris, or community servers, is a wild idea from Jagex and the Old School Runescape Team. I have thoughts.... here are my thoughts. MAIN CHANNEL: @IdylOnTV
Andrew didn't have the homies to say what ideas were strange and bad to come to good solutions. Brighter shores needs a lot of change
wait idyl has legs? there are technically cross episode progressions. You can make episode 2 xp potions in episode 1, and the gatherer or whatever skill in episode 2 seems to be mostly only used for alchemy as well.
I have been playing rs since 2001, and honestly this game is a nice change of pace. I've already got almost 100 hours into it, and I like how theres no central market. It makes it feel more like a crafting game instead of a typical mmo where you can just buy everything. Though they are adding player trading soon, I hope they stay away from a grand exchange sort of thing. This is just the beginning, I have a feeling Andrew Gower is going to do major updates for years on this game, and it will be amazing eventually.
To add to all your points, this game's atrocious UI and controls seems to be a byproduct of it probably being designed as a mobile game at some point. The whole tap once for options then tap again to choose an option on everything just screams to me "mobile game"
Why all of runescape streamers talk about thia game? Its a slooow single player mmo like many other. It has almost nothing like runescape if you dont consider the tile system that many other games use. Overall its definetly not a game for runescape players, might be ok for a more casual story driven player.
happy to be a slopper, subscriibed
This game is meant for people who literally love grinding 24/7. The only thing that would make it better if it had a reason to grind
Runescape runs of 4 gig ram superior 👌
Fishing also seem waaaay too active. Brother, we come from Runescape.. In runescape I just click a button and it will fish 1-5 fish... And it worked... Just do the same
The game is great, if you don't like it leave don't shit on it. just don't play it. what a concept. Andrew is going to take this game great places.
Its notihng like runescape, and its way better. Incel vid title, clickbait
The whole episode thing kills this game for me. Makes me feel like I’m playing weird demo levels for different mmo expansions or something.
Video needs a huge update because your first talking points have already been updated and added lol…
Ya, the game is good tho.
Im SO excited to see what the conbat race to 500 looks like for ep5. The 4 races happening right now have been good, but itll be much better when they're all going after the same skill, and have the ability to trade and craft.
early release so pretty crude to say such things when its not a finished product.
Most of this has been fixed already lmfao
Game is very bad, like unfixable. since the fixes are the actual games core functions
I kinda like this game… but the combat progression is so dumb… so infuriating dumb, progression in general feels so unrewarding, and gear feels so expendable + the social aspect in this game is really lacking - and all of these things are vital for an mmo, it could’ve been something special, but as of right now, for me it is just wasted potential
having half your messages be filtered is the worst part
the people in the comments defending this game sound like crypto shills wtf
this UI 100% looks like it was made for phones first, would explain basically every UX issue
Imagine only having 3 factions, or classes, and then only one looks good. Cryo looks good. The other two are TRASH. I chose Gaurdian and immediately regretted it. Have not gotten a single piece of armor for Guardian, either, but 5 for cryo! yay! I get cool plate armor I cannot wear.
This episode system is just the tutorial island of RuneScape and when the game releases it's going to be open world I hope
Runescape, but not gay and they didn't sell out to you know who. *Yet*.
Complaining about key binds in an early release game is dumb as anything
it's like that because it's runescape. that's what it is. that's why it is the way it is.

Idyl I think you took the bandwagon on this one. "only useful in e2" I think your wrong iv been playing through this game and you can use things across episodes already >.< You also can atune in any region to move armour into a new episode as well. Anyways its a good game; I think its just to early to tell.
I think the game isn’t great, but it’s clear he didn’t play enough to actually cover it fairly.
Never unlocking new training methods as you level up kills the game for me. After 20 hours of fishing in one spot, I want to unlock a new fishing area or method!
I just can't believe they didn't release it on mobile... seems like the perfect idlish game for me to take on the go
Runescape isnt even fun it feels like a job. Now this garbage? lol. Gaming is dead and has been for about 15yrs or more. No new innovation from anyone anywhere and whatever they do make now is not even close to a good game. Here's a link to the best mmorpg ever created. A Masterpiece. Blows everything away. weird how when you take the nostalgia out of runescape all you're left with is a grindy clicker game.
Nah you just did not watch the video. Idyl literally explains how this game fails *because* it doesn't play like OSRS. They didn't even get the progression system right. This game is more like "take away the fun progression and usefulness of every skill, the intuitive UI and controls, and strip the fun PvM mechanics and varied quest design of OSRS and you get a grindy, boring clicking simulator"
This game just made me miss RuneScape so I reinstalled RuneScape and spent all night playing it like the good ol' days.
Some of these points are fair but most are now outdated or straight up wrong.
I don't like that you have legs
Its like a Private Server with insane mods.
Oh cmon it’s early access
This will sound pretentious as fuck so forgive me but even my indie team had a keybind system and a middle mouse camera option immediately up and running on our project, and we are not good at this.
I forget the name of the game, but another game tried something similar with progression except progression was tied to every biome. It was almost universally hated. No idea why Brighter Shores is trying a similar system. Some people may enjoy it, but I would hope that Brighter Shores would want more people to play this game and enjoy it. They are a company after all.
Blue sky xDDDDD
This game is pretty shit
In Early Access and getting a lot of updates, so I assume this video will be outdated quickly :3
They've been putting out updates pretty much every day, and recently resolved another one of your complaints about wanting to default left click an action.
There is connection between episodes though? I have not played much but I already see e.g. that items from the gathering profession in ep2 is used in the alchemy profession in ep1. Game is still in early access and there are updates coming all the time so I think many of these small issues will get solved over time
As a person who never played Runescape, Brighter Shores is amazing. I will point out each day there has been updates and posts to explain decisions on changes. Especially on why splitting up Professions per Chapter/Episode (put up on 11/13/24)
gross, copying content and mannerism. weird.
Cubeworld did something similar to the episode thing. Moving to a new zone, all your equipment became useless. People hated it in that game, no surprise they hate it here. It just feels bad to "lose" progress. This game also seems almost entirely designed around being on mobile, which makes so many aspects look and feel worse.
The game has already changed so much ever since you released this video. Devs are literally pushing updates every odd day (except weekend obviously). I suggest you try it out once more in a few weeks :)
UPDATE: * Keybindings are added * Camera can be moved with middle mouse button now * Single click action added While skill-progression is locked to "episodes" or areas, many skills have relevance across all episodes. Like Alchemist, weaponcrafting, leatherworking etc..
