Great video.
is the plate taken off after healing
My 5th metacarpal is angulated malunion
i fractured my radius and my radial head i flew off an inflatable obstacle course on field day
Helpful thank you
34 and I fell on uneven sidewalk ended up in Urgent Care. Just tried bending my knuckles and said OWW!! Thursday seeing Orthopedic to get it out of sling and into cast. I'm tempted to get an arm sling to hold my arm in place as it constantly hurts nonstop. X Rays showed I have a fracture snuff box???
Man, I wish I had known this 14 years ago. My range of motion is terrible on my left side
I was given conservative management having suffered a complex butterfly fracture. Almost three weeks of severe pain until the follow up X-ray which showed increased damage. I can’t express how much better I feel now that I’ve had a pin inserted through the bone. Only 4 days post op, still in pain, but I’d recommend the plate/pin…… it’s a nasty injury!
I had a distal radius break, didn’t have surgery just a cast then removable splint. 7 months later it still hurts and fingers swell and I don’t have my grip.
What about 11 year olds with a buckle fracture? What is an ETA on when they can catch a baseball again or swing a bat? Poor son had a bike incident right before opening day for little league and travel ball. If there is no pain or can handle pain, what are the risks that those 2 actions can cause it to break more or injure it more after 4 weeks? Sadly ortho hasn't given us much info/direction.
Thank you so much for this video. I feel better and more informed about my upcoming wrist surgery. I’m going to put more focus on moving my fingers!
Thank you, this was brilliantly explained.
In Switzerland talking with a doctor means pay every 5 minutes . After 75 years old or 5years young you pay a hefty more because you are considered Not understand the doctor!!! So he sends you straight away to a therapist 100 USD an small hours who often IS No good . Thanks doctor for explainiing . Never fall i'll in Switzerland many thanks
bro i snapped my sht all the way n half n it been like 2-3 yrs they nvr gave me surgery they said i dnt need it but idk my bone still poking out a lil bit🤦🏾♂️ hope ion have ts all my life
My 8 yr old just broke his right at the bottom of the bone at the top of the arm right at the end by the elbow, it went to the opposite side so his bone looked twisted and his nerves stretched. He had surgery and 2 pins put in He didn't scream or cry and he can't cross his fingers or do a thumbs up yet he's got nerve damage hopefully it heals, it's been 2 weeks still nothing. The ER left his arm hanging for 2 hours before giving his arm any stability. I took him to children's which said they shouldn't of allowed his arm to hang that way his elbow was in the front of the arm. He flipped over his handle bars that's how the injury happened, the Drs said it's a very severe injury. He's been so positive throughout this entire ordeal, I'm in aww of him. The fact he didn't cry or scream ever, and I kept waiting for it and it never came, they said he was in shock. He walked home with his after it happened came in calm like I broke it ik it's broke, I freaked out and I tried not to but seeing your child that way is unbelievable.
Great info about moving the fingers. Mine are stiff and can’t start therapy till next month- insurance! So glad I watched this- and YES IT HURTS but I’ll do it anyway.
Sir how can we avoid shoulder tipping post a gt fracture of the shoulder ?my patient is showing that movement while abduction and flexion please tell me steps to avoid shoulder tipping
I shattered mine and also lost movement. 2 years into it
My ortho said to stay in a splint for 3 weeks...it a radial head fracture nondisplaced...
I’ve broke my forearm and wrist yesterday I’m dying😂
What is the cadency of X-rays to monitor a non-dislocated radial head fracture?
Y wrist broke and is 30 degrees displaced, but i cant afford surgery. Will it heal okay in the cast?
dam i might have fractured it i did the same thing he described i fell with an open palm on the ground while i was riding a bike and the day of it didnt really hurt yesterday there was a bit more pain and today also a bit more pain i guess i gotta get it checked out
I am 39 and tryed skating again and broke my radius in the exact way this doctor says 🥲
Thank you for this info. Very helpful and informative!
You are the best
Thank you for taking time to explain these things. I had a wrist fracture 9 days ago. I have learned so much from your video. I was just rolled out to my car with a pleasant goodbye. I didn't even know what procedure I had until I looked up my online chart. Thank you again.
Does it help to take vitamin d. C k a? During healing
Is bone grow weaker after recovery then before?
Fractured mine saw your video day I went to urgent care. I kept it splinted till I saw my doctor today 4 days later. He told me the same exact thing you are saying here. Keeping it splinted does more damage stiffness. I have been icing and stretching a little everyday. Now after seeing doctor and him saying it’s not that bad I’ll continue but more aggressively since he gave me the go ahead. Great video.
Thanks. Very informative
Maybe i’m just immature but this injury does not sound as funny as the name suggests
Me watching with a sling on 😩
What about metacarpal dislocations and sublixations?
Thank you doc
Super advice, thank you Dr. My cast is removed now so your advice on making a fist regularly will help my stuff fingers. I've been using stress balls but not a lot of improvement. Great video Dr.
Hii , I'm (age 30) going through mid shaft humerus bone fracture..till the accident day i was unaware of operative surgery .i was panic at that moment and doctor discussed with my father and decided to go with non operative treatment... 3 months gone and physiotherapy is going on from few days ..still the gap between fracture is 4mm..radial nerve is working superb since accident day(wrist completely working and able to lift half to one kg weight) but I cant take my hand up completely...elbow movement is 50% stiffed ..all my friends who suffered from fracture or are doctors are advising for surgery..bt doct telling that it may take 3-4 more months to heal... Bt physio telling to go for surgery.. no issue from shoulder and wrist ..only bone broke.... Healing depends on type of fracture.. horizontal or vertical.. plz suggest ur opinion on conservative nonoperative treatment and on my doubts too....plz
I have just had an x ray for a posible brocken finger they say there is no break what is the chances there is one but it is just is not visible on the x ray
I broke my distal radius from a bicycle,im 30 years old and its been 6 months since surgery and titanium plate, but i still cant bend my hand inwards. also things are constantly falling from my hand.
I broken my wrist 3 weeks ago and im due to go on holidays unfortunately my arm will still be in plaster..My question is to you is it ok to fly with a cast on..TIA..
Yikes everyone comments have me worried. My daughter just fractured hers sunday and she's 6 years old
I had communited displaced fracture of epidoncycle of humerus. Cast was 4 weeks. 2 and a half week tried pysio of home. Then 1 month normal pysio. And last 10 days vigorous pysio. Still not fully straightened. Should i get a mri done?
Thanks for the explanation it was very helpful to me.
How soon do u all drive after cast has been removed?
Is it OrthopEdic or OrthopAEdic?
My CT Scan showed that there were no fractures but it hurts sometimes. Why is that??
i had a mid shaft humerus fracture after bike accident, and was fixated by a plate and 6 screws, i was 7 months in and that plate broke as doctor told me i had a non-union, had another sugery with bone graft and bigger plate and 8 screws, i am 5 months in and still wearing a brace and i can still see a gap in the bones, should i be worried about a non-union, i have consulted 2 doctors they say its fine, but i most people with this injury gain full mobility around 5 months, and bone insn't healed, i am male 23, non-smoker, non-drinker. recommend me something, i am so stressed my hair turing grey.....
very informative and helpful, thank you!
