The Legend of Vox Machina is INCREDIBLE - Video Essay
I didn't really like the 12th Doctor at first. A part of that is because it always takes a while for me to warm up to the new Doctor after I've gotten used to the old one. It's not that I hated Capaldi, but I didn't like him as much as 10th or 11th (which introduced me to Doctor Who). This scene is what changed my mind. This interaction, this forgiveness, this love for a friend... THIS is what made me come around to Capaldi. And it eventually led to him being my second favorite Doctor.
I could listen to capalid read the phone book for 10 hors and not be bored for 1 second
His greatest scene was meeting the Metaltron in "Dalek".
the best description of this scene i've ever heard is this: "This scene actually wasn't scripted. Jenna Coleman actually brought a nuke to the set and what we see here is the footage of Peter Capaldi trying to talk her out of using it, all the while they are shooting like it's an actual episode! Goes to show you how amazing Peter Capaldi really is"
You need to watch the original Netflix castlevania series. Nocturne is meh but the original was one of my favorite animated shows I've seen
Love your analysis! Get goosebumps every time I hear this speech! And as a Swede, extra happy that Stellan got this role. He is truly amazing!
A lot of folks talk about the oratory skills Patrick Stewart brought to Star Trek, and how his closing arguments in “Measure of a Man” defined everything we had come to love about his character. This speech was Capaldi’s “Measure of a Man.”
I wish someone would use this ship as an example of what romance is like - period. Not transcending romance, or above/beyond romance, or any of that nonsense. Those comments assume/reak of a false belief that only sexuals can be romantic and that all asexuals are aromantic. They never see the ace-rom possibility because of the limit they place on the term romance.
Tennant is mid, pertwee on the other hand, the best doctor
You explained why I like Sylvester McCoy's doctor he was hiding something dark and Sinister something he had done with some dark thing he had done to the entire universe and yet still retained his joyfulness even though he was tainted
The thing is, what about the idea of "live to fight another day"? By choosing to die here, how many are you condemning to death in your absence?
I love 12 and Peter Capaldi. He is my doctor and always will be❤❤
12 will always be my favorite doctor
Well said my friend ..... a brilliant scene and great proof of Capaldi getting it ❤❤
"Do you think i care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference"-Doctor Toxic or kind?
Do I need to understand dungeons and dragons games and have had to watch critical role to watch this
Not at all! The show is actually quite divorced from any dnd references so you can enjoy it as an isolated piece of media!
Absolutely adore this show. Has to be my favourite, right after ATLA, and DOTA: Dragon's Blood is pretty high up there too.
I just realised that every single one of his finales is about saving someone with no hope, after they have been killed, which no other Doctor would do. It also makes so much sense that 12 is also the Doctor who gave River the screwdriver with the information to save her. I know people dislike Hell Bent, but 12 needs & loves his friends more than any other Doctor. He will not saunter off into a new adventure with a new person, because he's just not built to make friends like that. Knowing him as well as we do now, and considering the torture he was put through in Heaven Sent, any outcome other than Hell Bent doesn't make sense to me. And I love that this drive also ties back to the Fires of Pompeii.
“Do you think I care about you so little that betraying me would make a difference?” This line has genuinely played a part in shaping who I am today
This was sensational. I still quote it to this day. Fantastic sentiment that should be heard so much more. The isis/zygon flag was a touch on the nose but overall it was fantastic
Thank you for so beautifully articulating my thoughts on this scene! When I first watched it I too was swept away the moment he said the line “do you think I care for you so little” but I was also confused because I was so mad at Clara. It took some time for me to fully wrap my head around the episode and what it did to my heart. I think coming from a background where mistakes were so heavily shamed and not followed up with “but we still love you” has gotten me to a point of thinking that if I make any mistake - no matter how small, people have a right to fully give up on me. So to see this version of the doctor who is so black and white and note overly emotional be quick to explain to Clara that “obviously” he still cares for her absolutely broke me. Yes he was angry. As is his right. But he didn’t hold his own emotions over Clara. He can also recognize that she is human and in pain. I hope to behave like this for my friends and loved ones in my life (but maybe to a slightly less extreme since I’m not a time lord and as cunning as the doctor who was indeed in control the whole time!)
11th was always one of the happiest and cheerful doctors- but on those occasions.. he was also the darkest doctor..
I’ve been watching Dr Who since Tom Baker and I think Capaldi was Phenomenal! He got screwed by bad writing at the end, hands down my 2nd favorite Dr of all time (only behind Baker)

Capaldi did what he could with the scripts he was given. This scene is amazing. We see the heart of who the Doctor is and why his chosen title is Doctor. Couple that with the Master/Missy, who portrayed the parts so believably well. I loved hating them being themselves, selfish in their own distinct ways. The Master, winning by refusing to help the friend who was always better than he. Missy, doing away with her base self in hopes of being greater than her old self and finding a way to be kind. The irony of them both showing their nature and destroying themselves. It broke my heart when they died.
I know this isnt quite related to the timelord line but i was remember that final scene of tenth in the tardis at the end of journeys end. His alone in his tardis and takes off his jacket and its the first time his alone and nothing comes to distract him no titantic, no run away bride. He stays alone with no one. And i find the contrast always so sad. Sara jane told him you have the biggest family yet in the end of the episode he is alone
Wiping tears form the corners of my eyes. I love capaldi so much. His performance here especially. It's great to know I am not alone.
Ncuti Gâteau has done a great job as an actor so far, and I can only hope for more episodes like boom to come in the future as he continues to be the doctor.
BOOM is the GOAT
The sort of stuff Moffat can write, when he isn't making Karen Gillan stand on a literal glass ceiling......
The one thing that ruined that scene for me was the bit at the end where they imply that this happens all the time and they just keep wiping Kate's memory
I love boom
Moffat does it again, what an episode! Want to support the channel? You can do so here: patreon.com/TheRamblingManYT?Link&
Yess! Definitely the best ep of the season tho I think Ncuti's best performance was in D&B
Yeah fair, he was phenomenal in the last scene of Dot and bubble in particular!
I will forever die on the hill that if Christopher Eccleston didn’t do such an amazing job we wouldn’t have David Tennant or Matt smith or any of of the other doctors so I thank him and Billie piper!
Trueeee He was the foundation of the revival!!
@@RamblingManYT fr I don’t think people give him enough credit or talk about it enough
Capaldi is my favorite, toooo! I did also love Eccelston! But Capaldi is MY Doctor. I love his seasons so much!
I fell in love with the 12th Doctor the moment he said Shush lol
He is my favorite
I didn't like Capaldi's Doctor initially. It's hard to pin down why, but I thhink it comes down to the combination of crotchety and trying to impress by being cool. The Four Words did a decent job of making me appreciate him more, to show the struggle underneath, but I _hated_ him in "Kill the Moon." Clara was right to be pissed at him for abandoning them then. But then we got "Mummy on the Orient Express" & the all-time-great of "Heaven Sent," and now Capaldi's Doctor is a favorite.
I loved the Capaldi era. He's my favorite Doctor incarnation. Thank you for making this video.
He is one of my favourite doctors. It doesn't hurt that he is paired with my favourite companion.
He's never met Donald Trump for Vladimir Putin.
From 9 on i always saw the doctor as an individual trying to repress the trauma of his past and failing. Each new iterations was a new crack in that defense. A bit more of the trauma breaking through. Before the Ponds each companions character only existed in their relationship to the Doctor. In and of themselves they were not much of a presance alone. Though i think they tried to make Donna a independent character to a degree. The Ponds were my favorite companion because the existed as independent characters even without the doctor, but the Doctor existed in relation to them. Like for a time the planet all moons orbited found a sun to orbit.
agreed
IMO Capaldi is GREAT! 90% of the WRITING during his run was garbage. The fact that there are ANY "good" episodes (or even just good SCENES) is a testament to his acting chops! And yeah, the Zygon Inversion speech is definitely his BEST scene. (one of the best of ALL Doctor scenes)
Peter Capaldi, you were my Doctor, and you were bloody magnificent.
These videos are very well put together and very casual and enjoyable to watch, good stuff
Thank you 😊
whats the name of the episode? i didnt hear it in the vid and im not seeing it in the comments
The Zygon Inversion 👍
8:45 Funny thing is they could probably have won with the master's help, the master or Missy, one person who can go to the tradis while the doctor stands and figure something out. The master for all his flaws is nearly as brilliant as the doctor. And they are timelords, once they have the tardis free of the black hole the time advantage of the Cybermen is inversed, instead of having the cybermen have centuries for every day a timelord with a tardis has infinitite time if they want to. Of course the plot makes no sense to begin with, the part of the ship that is furtherest away from the bridge don't actually expeirence time at a super speed, they experience it at normal speed while the ones closer to the blakc hole experience it super slow. The ship is actually there for centuries from the perspective of the greater universe so how don't they set up a emergency beacon down that end? They've got centuries to be rescued or figure out a way to salvage some escpae crafts from the ship itself.
3:30 "Likewise" I don't think she means "I don't see what I see in the doctor" I think she means "I don't see what the doctor sees in Sim's Master"
