I'm excited at there being focus on the writing and characters again. Sad truth? When Chibbs and co started just creating a fun adventures for 13th Doctor and audience the quality improved. And Jodie, was able to show, how much she could deliver when it wasn't a smug git pushing politics or trying to be clever without thinking through their own plot. As for the 14th Doctor? I have a theory which echoes a plot narrative in Quantum Leap. It actually continues a idea already used in the Capaldi era of Doctor Who. I would like to do a TH-cam video but I haven't made one in YEARS. I used to do a show called "Doctor Who Radio Show". I stopped around the time of "Mummy on the Orient Express"? But, I get the feeling, these specials will have something for everyone. Classic or new Who. Either which way it is.... it is and always will be Doctor Who: a show I've loved since the mid 80s. *Please tell me I'm still young and beautiful LOL* David
I have to admit I feel very conflicted about all this. I don't want the show to become too reliant on the same few people to keep it popular. When the Star Wars sequels left their fanbase burnt out, they didn't just hand the franchise straight back to George Lucas, but a new team who understood what they had to do to win back the audience. I think the concerns a lot of fans have about how "new" this new era is gonna be are valid considering how many returning faces we've got working on it again. I could go on but I won't because I don't want to kill your good vibe and I'm really happy for you that you're genuinely excited about all this. And honestly, even though I have my concerns and criticisms, this IS Russell, David, Catherine, Murray etc. we're talking about here, so we KNOW they're all going to do good work whatever happens, so I'll reserve my real judgement till I've seen things in action.
I’m actually now considering to do a Doctor Who fan series that retcons the Jodie Whittaker error and I know A guy that could play the doctor and the Master and when my version of the doctor regenerates it Will set up nicely for the 14 Doctor
I genuinely think between the disney viewership, the increased budget and the evolved production that this will be the push to make Dr Who more main stream than ever before. The closest it had got to such a stage was the period between Tennant and Smith when Who got a more global viewing. I think the contrast will be so different, before and after that there will of course arise that part of the fandom that wishes Dr Who had not become so popular. We will hear a lot more people complaining and wanting to go back to the old eras but I do not plan to be one of those people lol.
I doubt Disney+ will help viewership for the show since it looks like the show is going to less accessible then it’s ever been being looked away behind 3 paywalls cause it doesn’t look like Disney+ got the back catalogue of the show it looks like they only have the 60th anniversary specials going forward from that locking the show behind a max subscription a Britbox subscription and a Disney+ subscription if it wasn’t for Pluto tv having the classic era none of the show would be available for free all this deal will do is raise the number of subscribers cause of people like me being forced onto Disney+ just to see the new content
In my opinion there is more to be worried about then be excited about cause of all the news of Russell tapping producers from his original run of the show Murray gold returning while Murray gold returning isn’t a problem by itself but added to the producers news makes it something to worry about cause it looks like Russell is just going to play it safe and do 2005-2010 all over again and I don’t want that I want the show to move forward and not play on people sense of nostalgia for his original run on the show the only thing I’m excited for is to see what Ncuti Gatwa millie do with the show cause I have been worried about Russell since the announcement of his return
Russell said in an interview that he wouldn't return if he wasn't inspired to do something new. Having the same people doesn't mean we're getting the greatest hits again. Any reasonable writer would want to start fresh with new ideas and concepts
I guess im the only one whos going to say this, i am not worried at all, i 100% trust RTD that he knows what hes doing, im glad that things are going backwards (i find it cool that a show would do that). To go forward you must look at the past for parts that were successful and to look at mistakes to improve on for new new doctor who. Hell I'd be happy if after Ncuti's run as the doctor david tennant comes back again as the doctor for 10 years or something. Sue me but thats the opinion of a real fan.
i am SO excited about murray gold being back. i used to listen to the doctor who season scores for fun back when he composed for the show. no hate to segun akinola but i don't think his music was good at all. it felt very generic and sanitized. no personality. nothing memorable for sure. i would be worried about tennant returning but i have enough faith in rtd that i'm cautiously optimistic. plus it's only for a few specials so even if it is crazy fanservicey to its detriment, it's very temporary and we'll quickly move onto ncuti gatwa's doctor. this is genuinely the first time i've been excited about doctor who in years. chibnall's writing didn't do it for me.
Segun Akinola deserves far more respect than he gets, he composed a lot of memorable and beautiful tracks and yet people don't see this because he's not Murray Gold. It makes me genuinely sad, and it worries me: Doctor Who shouldn't rely on one composer, if people can't get over Murray Gold then what? This is partly why I'm not pleased with his return. Murray Gold did brilliant work but I think Doctor Who needs a new musical voice.
Honestly I don’t even think RTD can save doctor who. I’ll try to watch the 60th but honestly being burned so hard I don’t even think I’ll be able to watch it for even tennant
This might come of as a controversial opinon to some but what i did like about the Chibnall era was the fact that it was completely different which is what Doctor Who always did back all the way back to 1963 constantly changing. Yes Chibnall made some poor choices but what showrunner hasn't? Even RTD made some controversial mistakes. I think RTD, Murray Gold and David Tennant all came back out of cowardly pure desperation and all it's doing is further encouraging the viewers to go backwards instead of going forwards and i think that's dangerous for the show i've always been against old characters coming back and i would had preferred someone new other than Murray Gold i got tired of his run as composer by the end of Matt Smith's run i think he stayed far too long and RTD refuses to give us alien planets and he won't give us companions who aren't from modern day earth which is also getting tiresome.
What are you most excited about for future of Doctor Who??
How queer it's gonna be 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

@@strbournethis is basically the thing that drove away 80% of the fan base. ENOUGH intersectionality crap.
I’m already excited! Ever since the day I was born I’ve never stopped watching!
I like the music from the 13th Doctors Era. It has a new age feel.
Love those 60's costume, I'm also excited for Dr Ncuti
I’m actually now considering to do a Doctor Who fan series that retcons the Jodie Whittaker error and I know A guy that could play the doctor and the Master and when my version of the doctor regenerates it Will set up nicely for the 14 Doctor

In my opinion the more people enjoying Doctor who, the better 🙌

doctor who will become a victim of it's own success
I refuse to watch any new Doctor Who until the Timeless Children is retconned.
Well too bad lmao. RTD seems be doing smtg interesting with it now while also kinda retconning it.

Agreed
I am seriously excited 🤟
"It felt very generic" it absolutely was not. Not even close.

Hey as long as he doesn't play Doctor Who super queer then I'm fine with it
