Hi I’m Tyler, a retired Hedge Fund quant and Ivy League alum. This channel is about alternative thinking and alternative living. In particular, it explores the intersection between travel, personal finance, and living a meaningful life (travel hacks, money hacks, and life hacks we can derive from thinking outside of the box).

How being a YouTuber gets you girls
I reveal how being a TH-camr with even a basic amount of clout will get women sliding into your DMs and speculate on how much romantic interest the more clouted up TH-camrs must get despite their best efforts to lie about it.
I then take viewers along with me on a date where I used my status as a TH-camr to flex like a peacock 🦚

Quant Trader runs into insider trading whale

However, when a whale is behaving strangely and willing to pile into a position at any price, is there a reason ...
Exploiting a trading glitch to make millions
มุมมอง 59Kหลายเดือนก่อน
I tell a Wall Street true story from my early junior trader days at an options market making proprietary trading firm, where I encountered a situation where a competitor’s market making software had a glitch, and it gave me the opportunity to legally take millions of dollars from him within a narrow timeframe and how much I was ultimately able to extract during that window of time.

I explain how relationships (both platonic and romantic) formed in adulthood are often shallow and transactional. I derive the equation needed to score your “value” in the eyes of other adults. Would you be able to make more videos of a similar nature? Maybe just a vid in which you explain how you evaluate risk in your day to day or even ones that we're not even aware of? That exon Chicago story was very interesting and provided a perspective i believe many of us weren't aware of.
@@Mrblackiechan17 hey thanks for the feedback. Yeah I do think the majority of my viewers want content like this. I’ll add more videos like this to the queue.
@@LitNomad cool, looking forward to it. that story was insightful and kind of reminded me of something my friend shared with me. we we're having a conversation about video games and how expensive some of them were. i was against buying them, but he was all for it and I didn't understand why. he basically explained that video games were simply a form entertainment, like movies. people will go to the movies and spend 30-40$ for a couple hours and some popcorn. a video game may cost 70-80$, but they'll typically last you 10-12 hours. if you do the math, it cost you less per hour than going to the theater. it can end up saving you more money since you can always return to play it again. this really changed the way i viewed my purchases. i love music and have tried learning a couple of instruments. as passionate as i may be for it, at the end of the day it's still just entertainment. yes, they may have cost me a couple grand, but with all the hours that i have put into them it's cost me less than a dollar an hour for the fun and it will continue to go down. ive now taken this perspective and applied to all my purchases that fall under that category. i guess what im trying to say is that what you shared was really cool, haha.
@@Mrblackiechan17 haha thanks man. Yeah people get culturally brainwashed and sometimes they need to reevaluate pricing from first principles again.

@@user62413 yeah I find it interesting. I just don’t like workplace politics.
Lot of interesting dialogue here but what a silly take that environment doesn’t play an important role in determining success. Borderline racist. For example, black people earn on average $15k less a year than white people. Does that mean black people are genetically lesser than white people?

Many of us were not good role models. You might feel this way because of your lack of good parenting. You dad more than likely treated your mom badly and wasn't there for you. I'm sorry if this is the case. You dad might have multiple families too. If that happened to you, it's not your fault. Families are supposed to treat each other 100% of the time with love and respect but many do not do that anymore.
self pity is a shame
This is a very powerful video on wealth building and is exactly why you see that some of the most boring people are the most wealthy among their peers. Often time, these are individuals with average income. Thankfully there's TH-cam because I never quite understood it until I started seeing videos like these. It all comes down to risk management.

wouldnt u experience unhappiness when u drop from luxurious life back down to below-avg life? after having that $400+ michelin meal, wouldnt u naturally seek more of it and therefore incur misery when u have to go back to soylent? Wouldn't the next 20yrs as a prisoner/slave be extra miserable when they lived the past 20 yrs as a king, so their scale of relativity is much broader, and you'll miss living like a king? maybe at that point would just prefer death? like going from a ferrari to a toyota as opposed to from a lexus to a toyota. Sure the ferrari/king experience was nice while it lasted but now that i no longer have it, maybe i'd prefer to never have had it in the first place. To each their own but i just prefer stability/peace!

hey dude, can you share your thoughts about max pain theory of market makers/liquidity providers pinning markets around the price where most options OI will expire worthless? obviously markets are way too complex for this to always be the case and it's probably easier for them to do it when trading volume is low but how prevalent is it really - is there lots of collusion going on behind the scenes between market makers + hedge funds + banks + short sellers to benefit their books the most?

For being such a data guy, you could have done at least a little bit of research. Married people consistently report higher happiness levels than unmarried people. For example, married men (ages 18-55) in America are about twice as likely to be very happy, compared to their unmarried peers. I'm not saying you have to get married, if you don't feel like it, don't. But I feel the data you brought up is very selective.
@@tegucigalpa4696 No your data is selective. I left that out because obviously you have to be a happy person to qualify to get married. Married people were chosen to be a life partner by another human. They have to be winners to some degree, and winners tend to be happier than losers. These studies have the causality backwards. Then they don’t account for the equal but opposite magnitude of unhappiness that comes from divorce. It’s so bad that it’s a leading cause of self deletion in men.
Typical case of Gell-Mann amnesia.

What about leaving money for your kids, grandkids, family? What if your wife needs it or is ill? Or medical bills? Maybe most people aren’t solo.
@@robertrota6347 yeah this is an analysis for myself basically haha. The equation changes when you have family for sure.
@ not being critical. Just something I wonder; if I entitle my son. Lol
@@robertrota6347 it’s definitely a debate. I think Warren Buffett and many other ultra wealthy people only leave a few million to their kids because they want to keep them hungry. I think a hidden benefit of doing that is it gives them a chance to EARN respect again. Bankruptcy is the ultimate loss rebate strategy. How much margin room does a firm get? I always assumed OCC had some sort of real time control where they could liquidate a firm that gets offside the way a broker will liquidate a trader. Not the case I guess.
