Remembering the eight young men who lost their lives on the lower slopes of Carn Aosda near Braemar. Their aircraft although reported missing wasn’t found for some four weeks after the accident. After the discovery of the aircraft by a local gamekeeper it took around two months to recover and bury the bodies. One of the engines is now displayed next to the War Memorial in Braemar. Remember them.

Is this on the south side of the Firth of Forth?
It is indeed. It’s in East Lothian.
Were you there on Sunday? I was there too and there were Fatbike tracks leading from the wrecks. Totally missed them though, I was just riding to NB when i noticed the tide was out (I was at the bay) but by the time i got to the wrecks the tide had came in too far but I noticed FB track leading along the beach!
Yeah we were there on Sunday. Low tide was about 10am. Pity you weren’t there earlier.
Allways scenic.joy.😊 to watch
Aw cheers.
thank you
You are welcome.
I could sit for ages pondering on the connected lives of the people to these wrecked remains,🤔
If I am right with my aircraft ID all the crew survived. I understand what you mean tho. I often sit a while at the sites I visit and think about that.
Stunning landscape shots. Wonderful sound track. Thank you for sharing. 🙏
Thank you. 🙏
Sad part is those poor souls gave their lives, and Today our Politicians are fraudulently, and corruptly, giving away our Country!
Wonderful tribute. Per Ardua Ad Astra
Thank you.
Very moving to see the opening shots of the Wellington seeing her geodetic skeleton ❤
The tail section could be seen from a good distance away. It’s a terribly sad place but I was glad to be able to make the walk and pay my respects and leave a couple of poppies.
Nice tea room in Tarland. Stunning scenery 😊 Nice tea shop at The Milk Hoose, 3 miles Aboyne side, of Ballater. You can buy buy some tea, excellent quality. Shut on a Monday and Tuesday. Maggie and Noorra😊
I did see the Tarland Tea Room but didn’t stop in. I’ll need to check out the Milk Hoose. Cheers.
Lovely blue skies. Seems to have been better inland, than on the coast.😊
It was ok until I was coming off the second munro. The hailstones were like golf balls then biblical rain further down. Had to treat myself to a night at Ballater campsite to dry everything out.
Loved this video! - We did a similar route up Glas Tulaichean a few years back and camped just down from the summit - It was fantastic and this video brought back a fair few memories.. - I also did the old train track, although the wife did the lower glen route.. brilliant all round. ATB Tom
Aw thanks Tom. The old railway track was interesting. I had planned to leave my bike at GT summit and walk to C&R, but I rode down the other side of GT and left bike hidden in the heather. This meant I had to drop down via the burn from the lochan which was interesting and I wouldn’t recommend it.
Nice video Glenda! Showing off Glencoe at its best! Enjoy the mountains! Debbie Parker 😊
Thank You. There were a few drama moments but what a rewarding walk. X
Fantastic Video
Thank you.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig don't thank me I just watched you did the hard climbing
It wasn’t too bad to be honest.
Lovely footage and music with a great thumbnail pose 🕺 🙂👍
Thank You.
ชอบๆมาก❤🎉😊
Looks like a fun day out!
It was a lovely day. Perfect territory for fatbikes too. Think we rode about 12 miles on sand.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig Wow is it tough riding on the sand, or does those tyres make it feel easier?
@@CraigDroneAdventuresit’s really easy unless the sand is super soft. The tyres are about 4psi.
Love this place. I always stop here on my way to Skye. Great video
Thank you. It’s a different view, seeing the castle from the back.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig I bet it is, Also i bet there is a lot less people 😃
For sure less people. If you paddle directly across from the castle there’s a lovely wee area with a slip and boat house.
Really great video and cool drone shots too. I just done a SUP video frome creswell beach. Small world 😄 Liked and subbed. Will check out more of your content.
Aw thank you. At least you stood up on your film. The waves were pretty big when I went out and I didn’t fancy several unplanned ejections so just played in the waves and surf.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig Haha yeah the sea was much more calm on my video! I like playing in the surf though. You made it look very fun too
@@CraigDroneAdventuresI had great fun messing about in the surf.
Fab looking bike that! Atb Maxine :)
Thanks Maxine. It’s amazing. I’ve ridden all manner of bikes over the years and this is by far the best. 🩷
Gorgeous area.😊
Isn’t it just.
You always choose great music! You looked extremely cool when you caught that wave backside at 2:14 🕶️ 🏄♂️ Cheers 🙂👍
Aw thank you. The waves were much bigger than they look in the film. I didn’t bother standing up as it would have involved a lot of dunking.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig Oh yes, when I've taken photos of myself canoeing in big waves I look back at them and think "well that doesn't look as scary as it really was"! Oh, so no footage of you hanging ten ...? 😆
Er no hanging ten going on. Ha ha. 😂
Our coast was made fat-biking 😁 Lovely footage 👍
It absolutely is. Think we managed 8 miles of beach between Amble and Cresswell.
Stunning haunting track to go with epic shots of the buckle😎💯
Aw thanks. 🩷
I'm sure that if you'd have been on your fat-bike you'd have shredded that trail, gnarly stylee, using your rad awsum bike skillz. At least I think that's how the trendy kidz term it ... On the Isle of Bute yesterday, in Rothesay, me and my brother descended The Serpentine Road on Canada Hill on our fully loaded touring bikes, much to the amusement of a couple of locals who thought that we'd misunderstood what the descent entailed. No, we knew exactly! Talk about frame flex and wheel-skip through the corners 😬
For sure the fat bike would have been better. The tyres I’ve got my hard tail are like gravel tyres. Your descent must have been interesting right enough. A braking parachute would be a handy thing when in these circumstances.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig Haha, yes, I certainly rubbed the glaze off my new brake pads.
@tonypaddler I bet you did.
Superbly stunning 😊
Thank you.
Lovely scenery as always 😊
Just amazing scenery.
You certainly know how to pick the music! Nice pose on the castle 🙂👍
There’s been too much posing going on on this trip. 😂
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig Haha, but why not!? 👍
That was some pose at 7:52 🕺 Weather gods are still with you I see, can you tell them to hang about The Borders next week for me! Nice haunting music to match the video, cheers 👍
Long may the blue skies last. Thank you for your kind comments.
More great weather to show off this beautiful area, and a rare live appearance by the camerawoman herself 🙂👍
Yep another super lucky weather day. Aye I sometimes appear. I appear quite a bit more in my next film.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig You're usually in the far distance, pedalling towards Bruce's camera 🙂
Scotland's decent eh?
Well decent.
#50! Awesome well done G! 😍😜👍
Thank you. Xxxxxx
What a great day to be alive, eh 😃, and on the water in particular. Jealous, moi ... 🙄 Your footage really is top class Glenda 👌🙂👍
Thank you again for your kind comments. I didn’t intend launching the SUP but when I saw how calm the water was I couldn’t resist.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig Yes, that's one of the benefits of having a van, enough space to take kit for your three chosen modes of travel. Many a time I've been cycling alongside a loch with a mirror surface and wished that I had my canoe instead.
Beautiful music. Love the coast from Arisaig up to Ullapool, nowhere better.
The views are just amazing aren’t they.
Another beautiful video Glenda, great memories for me. I'll be back up there later this year with a bike on my roof rack instead of a canoe 😁 Cheers 👍
Thank you. I have my SUP with me but haven’t launched it yet.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig on a calm day the islands of Loch Maree would be great to SUP around. It's one of my favourite lochs for canoeing. Stunning.
Lovely film G!!! 😍👍
Aw thanks. 🩷
Lovely area ❤it.😊
Yesterday was a cracking day weather wise. Today isn’t. 😂
Here also G. Hopefully tomorrow is nicer. Got Bumble to pick up from Monifieth😊
@weemark67 hope you got good weather for collecting Bumble.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig hailstones on way down
I can just imagine those 15 young men laughing and joking about how good life is after doing the 'dangerous part' of their mission, and how they're going to enjoy seeing their families very soon. Tragic under any circumstances 😞
Just so sad.
Absolutely awesome Glenda, simply stunning! The music was dramatically haunting too, perfect! One of my, if not the, most favourite area of Scotland, this video has actually stirred up something inside of me 👌🙂👍
It’s certainly a beautiful area. Thanks for your kind comments
Absolutely awesome Glenda, simply stunning! The haunting music was a fantastic match too, this video has actually stirred up something inside of me 👌🙂👍
They were lost, in the weather and then were lost forever. I imagine their fear and desperation, these two pilots. May they rest in peace.
All these years that I've been camping on the beaches between St. Abbs and Fast Castle Head and a short distance inland is yet another great place to visit and explore that I never knew about! I'll add this to my itinerary for the two day trip I'll soon be making up there with Mrs Paddler. What a beautiful scene at 3:58 and then you point upwards to the bridge then back down to the flowing burn at 4:12 🙂 excellent footage! (Is it Whiteadder Water?) Cheers 👍
Thank you for the lovely comments. Yes it’s the Whiteadder water. You can start from the Grantshouse to Duns road. It’s a couple of miles to the broch and then up to the summit of Cockburn Law. The copper mines are just west of the swing bridge. 10 minute walk from bridge on left hand side of river. Please ask if you need better directions.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig thanks very much Glenda, your offer of help is much appreciated. I intend to make a weekend of it up there as I very much like the look of the John Muir CP area from yours and Bruce's videos, so I'll probably pick your brain for ideas of little known and off the beaten track places to visit! I will also browse your TH-cam thumbnails and make a list from those. We like to explore places that aren't featured in holiday travel brochures 😁 Thanks again and before the weekend we come up I'll probably message you for directions 🙂👍
@tonypaddler I’ll gladly help out with directions. I’m on instagram as ‘pedal_girl_power’, if that helps for messaging.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig that's great, thanks very much 👍
You captured lovely views from Broad Law Glenda, it would make for a nice wild camp spot 🙂⛺ Cheers 👍
Thank you. Lots of places for a high level camp. It’s was extremely windy when we went. 70 mph gusts maybe. You’d never know by the photos/videos.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig I had no idea of the strong wind, you must have a microphone sock? On my next road cycle trip I intended to camp at the Megget Stone but if I'm feeling energetic I might cycle up the radio station track and sleep there. It would be a great start to the day freewheeling down into Hearthstane 😁🚲👍
I turned my volume off. Bruce is making a film. That’ll give an idea of how bad it was. I’m staggering about like I’m drunk. It’d certainly be a hefty pedal up but the scenery is lovely and the freewheeling down would be fantastic.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig ah right. I'll catch up with Bruce's video soon. Had you not said about the wind making you stagger about I'd have just assumed that it was the Buckie ... 😁 I've got 3x MTB gearing on my pannier bike and at what looks to be an average climb of 12% for over 3 miles I'd certainly need it! Cheers 👍
It may have been easier to stagger about had I been on the Buckie. I’d have thought it was a good 12% climb at least.
Another stunning video Glenda, and the music was beautifully haunting 🚲👌👍
Thank you. The track is called Lighthouse by Fractured Light Music.
@@glendaandthepinkwarrig thanks, I'll add it to my playlist.
Beautiful and serene with music to match 👌🚲👍
Thank you. 🙏
Wow. Best viewing point😊
For sure. Bruce and I were bickering about who got the best spot. 😂
Brilliant Glenda. Maxine used to photograph lots of abandoned places. I'll make sure she watches this. Thank you
Aw thanks. The copper mines are really interesting. I grew up near there so have rummaged about in them loads over the years.
Were the green bits at the mine entrance oxidised copper deposits, or maybe moss?
For sure copper. I grew near there and it was a regular thing to go there and hack up bits of rock to see the copper inside.
Wonderful landscape and stunning photography. Fascinating info on Google about the SS Werner. The soundtrack really suits the footage. Cheers. Stoozer. 👍🏻
Many thanks. If we had stuck around for the tide to go out fully we would have seen a bit more of the ship.
On my list to visit. Cheers. Stoozer. 😃@@glendaandthepinkwarrig
Very nice. 🤠
Cheers. I’m blessed to have the sea on my doorstep.
