Great tips. But still expect a high cost of ownership with these.
If you want trouble free, don’t buy German vehicles. Expensive and not reliable
I’ve never heard of a specific Adblue in England as it’s available from most petrol stations , so just buy & it goes in my work van via company fuel card but very interesting video regarding DEF for Benz vans , will look into this further so I know in future 🤙
My 2017 Sprinter 3500 has a DEF level “gauge” showing on the display between the Tach and Speedometer. You just push the up arrow on the steering wheel when it is in the mode that shows trip info (elapsed time, overall mph, and overall mpg). The gauge itself looks like a blowing cloud. When it gets to the 1/4 DEF level it also sends a message to the display to add DEF soon. Seems to be a very simple system that works well. The other way to avoid excessive service costs is to do a lot of your maintenance yourself - change oil and filter before 10000 miles, change your air filter and replace your fuel filter regularly.
Where are you located? I am in East Tennessee. I have a 2013 sprinter van that has been sitting with a dead battery for a year and a half. Just replace the battery filled it with death. It runs but needs help! I would appreciate any advice on what this vehicle needs to get up and running again. I have very limited experience but I’m a fast learner. Thank you!
Who would be able to help with a def delete? Asking for a friend
Could you send a picture of the Mercedes Benz ADblue?
I’m weighing the cost of a sprinter based class C as to a ford Based chassis Tiffin makes a class C on the ford
@@stevest.martin3940 get the sprinter!
DEF does not clean the particles out of the DPF. It is injected into the exhaust stream AFTER the dpf. It only serves to reduce NOX in the scr.
Why is my EGR valve always sooting up and causing transmission shifting issues? From day one. I have a 2022 six cylinder diesel sprinter and it has been in the shop at least 5 times. The longest was for 3.5 months.
@@adampajcz8719 that’s not surprising but it could be a multitude of reasons. Driving in city?
@@VanBae City and highway. Is this common?
@@adampajcz8719 yes 👍
How to avoid high service costs for sprinter . Don’t buy a sprinter buy a ford transit instead.
Its only a matter of time... You will have extremely high maintenance costs one day or another, after being stuck in limp mode in the middle of nowhere
Just delete it wtf
"DEF", ruining engine blocks since 2011
Best tip to keep engine repair costs down is to ignore Mercedes suggested service intervals and change oil and oil filter every 5000 miles. Wal-Mart Super Tech DEF meets API standards so it is safe to use and cheaper too. I would say fuel filter change every 10000 miles. Yeah, oil in diesel engines turns black quicker than in gas engines because of soot, so why wait to change your oil at Mercedes suggested intervals. And since most Sprinters now have EPF’s and require DEF use the correct oil that meets MB requirements - like Mobil1 ESP 5W-30.
Agreed on more frequent oil changes. I bought the MB 5W-30 229.52 spec oil because it was priced lower than some other brands.
Какая цена ?
You can cancel out the 8-10 re-starts count down meter. All by unplugging a wire under the dash. Mercedes couldn’t get my van in so we had to figure something out. Do some TH-cam searches, there’s a guy outside the United States on TH-cam that shows this. I don’t suggest this by anyway but it got us back in motion before we got it fixed.
well she clearly doesn’t know what he just said 😭
Why do you say that
What was that last question?
If it would be under warranty
Wow and nice
2914 Sprinter DieselPleasur WAy.I last all power in front and nobody can tell me what's wrong.I'm stack in the Garage
En qué ciudad estás nececito ayuda con una Mercedes Benz 2011
50 seat belts that person not going anywhere lol
Do you recommend doing a forced regen and if so how often
Yes every month
And how to you force a regen? I am a new owner , a couple of weeks, of a used 2022 MB 2500 sprinter.
Actually, DPF was at 100%, I got on highway and left in a lower gear to get rpm up to 2500 and the regen did start and got it down to zero. A concern I have is I do not see the Def fluid gage going down at all. Should the DEF be getting used? I have burned about a thankful of diesel since I got it. Thanks for your help
Do you want to sell the tracks
“Never have any problems “ until the DEF pump crystallises and stops working
I lost my on your owner service manual. How can I get one? Is it one online or can I buy one somewhere?
Is peak blue def a good fluid for 2023 sprinter?
Ya the whole “anything other than dealer DEF is sworn against” is bs. Make sure it meets specification and that the ratio is 32.5%/67.5% split and that’s all you need
Overheat the DPF…. Lol that’s a Mercedes service adviser.. and all the overheated nox sensors lol… if he only knew that def nozzle is down stream of DPF and is completely two separate systems. 😂
Camera man fail again
So you’re telling me I can’t drive this vehicle like it’s meant to be driven or the DEF system is going to mail the function? Wrong answer The right answer is a DEF delete!
Mercedes what a price of crap
Warranty is not voided by other def fluids. Otherwise def would say adblue only not def!
If the urea is too low, just pee in it!
Can you give us some useful information? Like how do I remove all that crap you just talked about?
You are wrong. My 2016 sprinter reads def level with the m o - + cluster buttons! Fyi
I love how all the global warming idiots turned my $300,000 van into a 5 mph paperweight. Hello let’s save the world from .00001% increase of carbon dioxide while we kill our fellow humans because our vehicle will not go anywhere in subzero temperatures and killing me
Only 16,000 miles and now my $300,000 van won’t go faster than a $40 bicycle, 5 mph. Mercedes used to mean something.
Def, unlike antifreeze, will freeze making my Mercedes completely useless in the mountains, where I am now stuck and freezing to death! Worthless! My first Mercedes and it’s crap! Isn’t worth a dime anymore. Zero resets will kill!
"Drive some on the hiway"! "make sure you put in hiway miles"......uhhhhh HOW FAR OVER WHAT TIME HOW LONG!!????? Otherwise that information is useless.
hi van Bae . in my 2016 m Benz Sprinter 2500 2.1 Diesel engine I have accident and both air bags were deployed I put new ones already . I replace air bag module also an I put new pyrofuse the one in top in the battery but still have srs code b1330 . is any crash srs sensor some where ? I look for impact sensor in front of the van but there is not impact sensors on it . any help I really appreciate
Didn’t see this!
hello van bae . could you please help me I have my 2016 Mercedes Benz 2500 2.1 engine I had accident and both air bags deployed I already put new ones on it and I send my air bag module to repair the say they fix I put it back on but I have air bag system code b1330 electrical fuse pyrothecnical separator resistance to high .. . the fuse on the positive battery cable in top of the battery was blow out I get new one from Mercedes and installed new one I tough that was the air bag crash fuse but still the air bag code present is there any other fuse for the air bag system ? could you please help me and tell me where is any air bags crash sensors located in this van ? I check in front of the van but I didn't found any crash sensor in front of the van. but both air bags were deployed .. . in the accident the adblue tank unit get dent the adblue tank was empty but I fill the adblue tank .. after I fill it up the adblue tank the van drove great. after 250 miles I get in dashboard start idle message .and now the van is in limp mode I have code p13e300 the number of possible engine start is limited due to a malfunction in the adblue system ....and I have this code too p152100 the starter was disabled by the exhaust aftertreament system .. please help me with any tips I really appreciate any help
Like MB makes special DEF... use any brand, just look on the label and ensure it meets the DEF ISO 2224 spec, which is specified in the MB owners manual. I haven’t seen any brands that don’t meet the spec. The service advisor needs to go to school...you need those hiway trips to ensure the particulate filter has the opportunity to regenerate properly..
😂😂 usually service advisors in every dealers are useless, and they are lying to the customers
Thank you both. Good tips.
What’s this about? I’ve got a 2023 AWD Diesel. Something I should know?
I’m here frequently just never took my van in before thinking of doing it
Risk is fun
I was looking at an expedition style van and the Sprinter was the first to come to mind. Then i discovered the Iveco Daily 4x4. The link below is a comparison between them and it shows the underbody. Honestly, they aren't even jn the same league. The review is in German soni used subtitles. th-cam.com/video/nECoKO471oQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=l2h_tKA3Ald2X1-s
