As a good first step towards de-devaluation of gaming as a hobby... I suggest to stop devaluating interactive movies. There's quite enough of quite good ones already, you could familiarize your friends and family with those. There's literally a Batman short series of two seasons in form of the Telltale's games - freaking everybody knows Batman and his closest associates at the moment! It's like the perfect way for action movie fans and enjoyers.

Im pretty sure everyschool has every kid that plays games, esport leagues for schools are rising. Gaming is more mainstream than ever, and i can't go a day without hearing an ad for razor gear at work. It doesn't really matter if some people don't "respect" people who play games. Gaming is an excellent way to create community. I know that because I follow many different games and they all have just that in common: Community. Video games are really the same as sports or cars and board games when it comes to community. Gaming can be a serious thing and it can be very inspiring. Just look at Super Mario 64, which changed the life of many people: More people made and optimised code ever since and games helped computer science in general. Lastly, gaming is interactive, so it has its place in the big media. It is merging more and more with TV and music and art and so much more ever since gaming started. Oh, and don't forget about all the people with motorical disabilities who benefit from gaming regularly, so why not make it your work as well?

I honestly feel bad for people that don't play video games these days. They're missing out on some of the best entertainment experiences we've ever produced: Mass Effect, Bloodborne, FIre Emblem, Halo, Devil May Cry, Cyberpunk, and of course our darling Nekopara!

As long as they keep the DEI out of games I dont give a flying duck what people think on gaming or gamers. There are cons yes, as with any hobby, but escapism is kind of the point. I would rather spend 4 hours a day playing COD or Ace Combat over arguing about politics with strangers or taking shit from people who dont care about me for hours at work. It can be unhealthy as much as it can be a hobby, it depends on the person. Cheers all.

Watching your favorite sport's match is a huge waste of time. Watching reality shows is a huge waste of time. The thing video games and Hollywood have in common is that they're entertainment. Videogames is entertainment that you interact with. Movies, sports and TV shows is entertainment that you watch.
