FABULOUS REVIEW!!! Several of my favorite bags! I have the Calpak, Osprey and have been looking at the Patagonia and Bellroy. I think , for me, i have two of the best already. Funny thing.... i kept watching and thinking wait, where are her legs?? lololol then i realized that you were sitting at a table!!
Loooooolllllll I am on the floor laughing . Just to put your mind to rest I do have legs 😂😂😂 Thank you for your comment ☺️ I do love all the bags they are really well thought out bags
@@cressidaonthego It was definitely the laughter i needed today! I have a SEVERE bag obsession and when your video popped up i was like oooohh all of my favorite bags in one! ... glad you have legs too! lol
After you used it, you think is worth it?
Yes . I used it after as well. But you just have to remember that for budget airlines it will not count as personal item . However on big airlines I have used it as personal item. It is good quality no doubt about it and I love all the pockets . However I would go for a darker colour. I took it on a 4 day safari and it was really dirty by the end of the trip ☺️
Would these fit under the seat
It will be dependant on the airline and how much you put in it . It might but if they make you put it through the sizer the Patagonia calpak and bellroy won’t pass as personal item on low cost airlines . You might be ok on bigger ones
But because it's squishy material I hope it can push through the sizer
@@carborisedremember the back is a bit more rigid. But yes technically you could and it does not look that big on ☺️
Thank you dear for taking us along. Can't wait what the HIDUPZ queen picked up Fend
Best packing video demo for the nomad lane bento bag. Enjoyed watching your packing solutions to make all your items fit. I purchased my classic bento last year, it’s a great bag. Your video has encouraged me to really utilize this bag full capacity capabilities on my next trip. I hope the bag worked well on your trip. Post a follow up video. Thank you for posting.
@@aroyaldiadem8396 thank you for the nice comment . I am more of a backpack girl . I really hope nomad lane adds backpack straps to this bento bag and then I will really enjoy it . I am glad though that my video helped see a different way of packing :) happy travels
@@cressidaonthego oh wow 🤩 that would be a great idea for nomad lane to consider. I like the cross body ability of the bag but I could definitely see the benefits of having the ability to convert to a backpack.
@@aroyaldiadem8396 yes it would be great . The thing I have in mind ( don’t know if you saw it ) is the Beis sports duffle ( don’t like it btw). But if bento bag had hidden backpack straps in the bottom end , like Beis duffle has, it would indeed be the perfect bag .
@@cressidaonthego I’d never seen the osprey daylite backpack before, it looks great also. I’ll also check out the Beis 😀. Thank you 😊
Thank you for the review! I really enjoyed it
@@zedl ☺️thank you for watching it ☺️
Good review, it's a pity that the Bellroy is quite expensive but lacks features (like the side pockets) which the Osprey has.
@@players02 thank you for your comment . That is true . Bellroy should have done better , hopefully with their next one who knows ☺️ Have you seen the new version of the Osprey backpack ? I feel they removed some really good features unfortunately
@@cressidaonthego yes I have, and I don’t feel like I’m missing out!
These bags look too big for most budget flight requirements.excrpt ejet..
@@lbunnygordon1133 they are indeed . They are more carry on type bags not personal item . The Osprey one however I have used as personal item on easy jet Ryanair and wizzair and was ok :) the other 3 bags in the video I would not risk using as personal item and actually the Patagonia one was one that was not allowed as personal item .
Very good video, thank you. I think that Bellroy backpack is designed to be used without packing-cubes for clothes, packing it in the main compartment. Could you please test and tell us? It seems to me that you will pack easily and the backpack will be less compressed. On the other hand, for me is incomprehensible the lack of load lifters... Bellroy!!!!
Hi , thank you for your comment . Bellroy has missed an opportunity to make this backpack a great backpack in my opinion. Load lifters would have been great . The sternum strap should have been a regular one as this one made the bag quite uncomfortable . And the lack of a bottle holder pocket it’s just stupid in my opinion. I have done a video with file folding packing on a nomad lane bento bag and that technique would have indeed made the bag less bulky . I just prefer packing cubes . I can’t do a trial on packing that way as I have since returned the bag. I found I could not get past the fact that the sternum strap made the bag dig into my chest. And it was really uncomfortable . I hope Bellroy takes the feedback on board ( not mine as they don’t know about me , but I saw other TH-camrs complaining about similar things ) . It would be a great bag with those small changes .
I always use a compression packing cube for my clothes in my bag
Hi thank you for your comment . I have tried them and found they don’t work for me . I love regular cubes but hate compression cubes. ☺️
thank you very much, very helpful video! i am looking for a backpack which would go as a personal item in planes. I'm between the osprey and bellroy
I've decided for the new 2024 version of Osprey 26+6
@@Cryptana0 Osprey is a solid choice :) personally I prefer the older version of the 26+6 but is a good backpack. I think the Bellroy lite travel pack would be too big as a personal item on budget airlines ( ok on big ones ). Hope you have many travels and adventures with the Osprey backpack
I always pack for my husband too!
What was weight please of bpack?
@@lbunnygordon1133 hi thank you for watching the video . The weight of the backpack fully packed was 6.9kg
Sorry if in parts some of the things I showed were cut off from the video. Also sorry for the background noise :)
One under-seat bag is the ideal way to travel. Strangers in far away places don't care how extensive your wardrobe at home is! One criticism though, isolate each shoe in a shower cap or poly bag and regard the soles as bacterial weapons.
Thank you for your comment . I will do that . I normally have my shoes in a packing cube or bags , don’t know why I packed it this way this time . However if you look carefully the soles touch only the lid of the packing cube they never touch the clothes 😊 .
I'm looking forward to putting a patch on my Osprey backpack but I don't know how. I'm afraid I'll burn the fabric or damage it in some way. Could you tell me how you put those patches on your backpack? Thanks.
Initially I put the patch on the backpack put a cloth over it and then ironed it . But I also went just with the iron straight over the patch and was ok ☺️
@@cressidaonthego Thank you so much! Your backpack looks like it's from Mary Poppins. You explain things very well. I like that you show things in detail and don't just talk in front of the camera. And you also give us examples with photos of you wearing those clothes. Good luck with your channel.
@@erem.5531thank you for your comment . I am glad you enjoyed it xx
Clever to use the duty free bag! I am guessing you were allowed a carry on and a personal item with your ticket? I have the same bag - My husband & I have put computer bags or totes into the laptop area and then we fill those with our souvenirs. I don’t mind the flat pocket - but I agree that the computer area should be separate, and I modified the straps - cut & sewed keyrings to them & used tiny carabiners - so that I can unclip them and tuck them away in under the back panel. I may sew a piece of canvas to the top of the pocket and basically make that pc compartment separate. The only problem is the size… this does not fit under the aisle seat as an underseat bag. So I think my ideal bag would be about 20 liters… BUT I love this bag and I love that it can expand and I often use it as a carry on so it goes up into the luggage compartment. And I have a cross body bag for under the seat. 🤷🏼♀️Or I pack the cross body to fill with souvenirs etc… depends on whether I travel to see family or for more personal vacation. So interesting to see … and where do you find your silk dresses? 🤔🤔
@@lynneeie5226 thank you for your comment . So wired that I was thinking the same about the backpack straps. I may take your idea and do the same .have you seen the updated version the expansion is part of the body of the bag not the lid thing. I think that was a big mistake . They should have added the laptop compartment and leave the bag as it was . I have never travelled with it expanded as I only use it as personal item so even so with some airlines I am pushing it :) . With the tickets in Europe you get a free personal item included it’s the carry on you have to pay for so this bag , for me , is perfect. This time it was personal item only hence the duty free bag for my cross body bag . This was ok for personal item . I used it so many times and never had any problems with using it as a personal item . Oh I haven’t tried to put the bag under the isle sit but I did put it under the window sit and it fit . It may be that different companies have different space under the sit. Is it heavy when packed? Did it hurt your back?
@@lovealwaysjasmine well obviously it depends on what you pack in it . This was at approximately 10kg so it was relatively comfortable. The straps are very good and the sternum strap helps with the weight load. I wouldn’t juke with it but otherwise actually it was as comfortable as it could be at 10kg . After wearing it for hours it does hurt the back but in transit is ok.

Wow great job packing! Did it fit under the seat ok??
Yes it did ☺️
I just did a test pack for a 10 day trip to Norway in a July lightweight expandable. SAS limits the carry on to 8 kg, so a lightweight bag was key. An extra pair of shoes, light weight merino and silk clothes, some solid toiletries, a tiny white noise maker, and my winter coat (we’ll be above the arctic circle) and it only weighed 5.9 kg! I packed with my clothes rolled into big ziplock bags to keep everything organized. Along with a very small backpack as a personal item and I’m ready to go!
It is a great little bag isn’t it ?! I was so shocked at how much I could pack. Hope you have a lovely time in Norway xx
Whats weight packed please ss couldnt be budgrt flight as dont allow more than 7 to 8 kg snd not 2 bags?
Hello😊 if I remember correctly it was around 10-11 kg. Now the company I flew with did not have restrictions on carry on / personal item weight as long as it was within the measurements . Remember the weight will depend on what you pack and the type of items you pack.it was easyJet I flew with. Also they never asked me to put the small bag in the backpack . But what you can do to avoid the small bag problem și buy something from dutyfree ask for a bag and put the small bag in the duty free bag so problem solved . I did that multiple times and worked every time . Even put a whole packing cube in the duty free bags
I have used compression bags for jumpers like cashmere or merino but if you have a hoodie then it’s going to be thick. The way I overcome the bulky winter packing is layering thermals and merino wool jumpers over the top. It keeps me warm and they pack small. As as you are layering them you technically only need to wash more the thermals . Hope it makes sense. I travelled to romania for 2 weeks in winter ( it gets pretty cold there) and still did it in a carry on and once in a backpack . As I said merino packs small. Hopes this helps xx
Have no problems with summer rolling or your method in summer but cannot see solution for summer/winter packing mimimal and light. What is your opinion of compression bags that you pump air out of?
I have used compression bags in the past , if you have something really voluminous they are good , but I don't find them practical when traveling. the method I show here I use it for winter clothes as well but I mainly pack merino wool when I travel in the winter and focus on layers rather than bulky jumpers. a hoody I would either wear it or pack it flat.
Now this is the review I needed!
Good video but would have been good to see it on your back , for size
Thank you for the feedback . I will keep it in mind for future videos

Thank you ❤ for the comment it’s is a really good bad and if you combine with packing cubes is even better xx
Thanks for the great video! I always appreciate seeing packing videos that are not just suitcases filled with tank tops, crop tops, bike shorts, leggings, and bikinis. You have a great packing method and a huge selection of clothes for just 2 weeks. I hope you had a great time! So glad to randomly come across this video despite 6+ months of TH-cam searches for carry-on travel packing videos. 😊
Thank you for your comment . We had a wonderful time . I am glad you enjoyed the video ☺️check out my other packing videos .
What's the weight fully packed? TQ.
I haven’t weighed it, sorry It will depend on what you put in it ☺️. Everyone’s packing will be different and the weight will be different . It was approx 8-10 kg
What a great video, looking forward to more
Thank you xx
Hey! Great video, which airline did you travel with? I'm wondering if it meets the EU airlines personal item requirements (40cm*30cm*20cm) when it's full I know it's a little bit larger near 43cm
I travelled with easyJet . And to be honest I had no problems with it . But I was not asked to put it through the sizer. Thank you for your comment xx
What is the litter capacity for that personal item backpack?
30L 😊
I have same one diff design hoping to cram everything in. Do you find backpack hurts shoulder and upper back and have you ever tried the hip strap to take weight off please?
@@lbunnygordon1133 honestly it depends on the backpack used. I personally can’t travel with bigger backpacks my max is 30L and even that is big. So I would rather have a rolling luggage. It’s too much for my back. The hip strap is usually for bigger bags and I don’t really like big bags therefore never tried . I find the sternum strap helpful though .
@@lbunnygordon1133 sorry I removed your comment to my other video by mistake . I wanted to hit reply and hit remove. I do apologise . With regards to easyJet you are correct in saying you can only have one piece of luggage and only priority get 2 . I travelled with both easyJet and wizzair non priority and never had a problem with a a small cross body bag . I think only once I was asked to put it in my backpack . A way around it is get something small in duty free and buy a bag and place the handbag in that bag and problem solved . It very much depends on the person at the boarding area I find . Hope it helps
@@lbunnygordon1133 my backpack starts to hurt my upper back when it weighs more than 13lbs (I'm 6'1 and weigh 215lbs) and I have to wear it for some time, then I know I have to use the hip strap, it makes a huge difference for me, mostly when it is heavier than 13lbs; something else you should consider for comfort is what kind of back padding your backpack has, it also can make a significant difference
Been considering this bag for personal-item carry-on. Thanks for the demo. Not sure about packing dirty shoes in with all the other stuff, but I could easily put them in plastic bags, I suppose.
Using the packing cube protects my clothes hence why I did not pack them in bags ☺️the dirty shoes never touch my clothes they only touch the packing cubes or the lining of the backpack ☺️
Hello, Wow that really bad of the Airlite width is 16” on their page even in the questions they says is 14” that is a big difference. Great review!
The problem is the little lateral feet . Great idea to have them but if you consider the feet and the handle it adds up. Otherwise a good bag. Of the 3 is definitely the widest . Thank you for your comment x
They overlooked that part to measure the whole bag dimensions. I just saw they posted on their question section on the page by the reviews the width is indeed 16.5” That is weird I wonder if they did a redesign of the bag and they haven’t updated the specifications. Or why they have the width as 14.5” I would email them to confirm.
I have not looked at the website to see this discussed. For me personally is not a big deal but it is deceiving ☺️
Wow! That's impressive how much you got in that bag. If you can pack for a week, you've got a long trip in a personal bag.
Technically yes ☺️ now depends on the kind of trip as well. But to be honest this backpack fits a lot
Let's see the rest of your packing! It's a great backpack. I use mine for my minimalist carry-on, but it usually qualifies as a personal item as well. I then carry the 20 L Daylite Tote as my personal item bag. I use the tote straps while checking in to hide the fact I actually have two backpacks. That's 46 L unexpanded and way more volume then I really want or need to carry.
Do you mean what I packed for my husband ? As that is all I am taking with me ☺️
@@cressidaonthego Yes
@@mootrail9487 I will try and do it today ☺️

Thanks for your videos on the calpak bag, I'm considering investing in it - was happy to learn about the patagonia bags from your video, compression bag too! Which bag do you prefer in the end? Do you have a favorite between the two?
Hello , thank you for your comment. Personally I prefer the calpak tbh. I don’t know why but I feel like I can fit more . They are however very very similar . I am not sure if the Patagonia mini mlc is still being sold. Quality wise I feel like Patagonia is sturdier but don’t get me wrong they are both good quality bags.
Was the bag uncomfortably heavy to carry once packed full? TIA
It was heavy but not uncomfortably heavy. If you are used to using a backpack it’s ok however I would not go miles with it
Very interesting folding technique. I'll have to give it a try.
Hi , thank you for your comment . Let me know how you find it . I find it keeps me organised and I can fit a lot . ☺️
Wow, that fit a lot of clothes for a small lightweight bag. I was impressed. Wondering how you like traveling with it, so please update sometime if you can. I follow the Kelly's too. I was debating between July regular vs the expandable light. I might go with this expandable light after watching your packing. Really once it is expanded it's 40L vs the regular which is 42L not a huge difference and this one probably would be better on travel where bags have massive weight limits like Japan/Ecuador. Thanks for your review.
Hello , thank you for your comment . I actually loved traveling with it . It was small where you don’t draw attention to it . I have another video on my channel comparing it to samsonite proxis and heys Airlite. And I actually do a packing demo wheee I transfer the things from one bag to the other . That can give you an idea of how much each fits. With regards to the July carry on expandable it a beauty in my opinion. I checked it on the way back from DR and arrived with very few scratches . I also dropped from top of the stairs and it was still ok. So tbh I really recommend it . Can’t speak for the original carry on so …. I contacted customer service as the stitch from one of the zippers came a bit undone . The bag was still usable but just wanted to see what they would say and they have actually sent a replacement. So their customer service is amazing . I traveled with samsonite proxis and from the first use ( not checked) gathered a lot os scratches and dents ( you can check it in my video) . When I contacted customer service they said it was normal wear and tear . Now I am nervous using it as it scratches so easily . I also need to add that this is a very light bag compared to other carry on bags so for me was a plus . Hope this helps XXX
Thank you for more detailed info. I went ahead and ordered the light expandable with express shipping because my daughter leaves in a week. The weight limit is 35 lbs for ALL carry on including personal items for Ecuador so this was a no brainer after I saw your packing job. She wanted the purple (which surprised me because she loves green...LOL) I'll update you on how she thought it went with this bag because she is going on a working research trip with her professor so they have hiking boots, snorkel gear, work gloves, notebooks, etc. Thanks for your more detailed information can't wait until this arrives now.@@cressidaonthego
