Transform Your Home Network with PFSENSE 2.7! Step-by-Step Setup Guide for Beginners
I was trying to do something like this a while ago but could not get Home Assistant to work with my security cameras correctly so I just went bare metal Home Assistant OS. Do you have any videos doing a security camera HA install? Thanks, great videos.
Thank you. Great video. I am brand new to Proxmox. I'm trying to install it on a minipc which has a single 512GB SSD. After installing, I can't create a directory because I only have are sda1 (boot), sda2 (EFI) and sda3 (LVM) and they're all used by proxmox. I get "No disks unused". How do I install Proxmox (and everything else) on only a single drive while leaving part of the drive available for VMs, ISO storage, etc.? Edit (for anyone with the same issue): I figured it out. Under advanced bootdisk options, I started with 476.94 GB. I manually entered 8GB for swap, Max root: 32GB, Max Data: 100GB, Min Free LVM: 200GB. After the install finished, my displayed /dev/sda size was 512.11GB. (sda1 and sda2 are irrelevant). sda3 was 510GB. I booted gparted and shrunk all the free space out of sda3 - taking it down to 150GB. I made a new partition (sda4) - which ended up with 360GB. I booted proxmox, wiped sda4 and voila, I was able to use sda4 to create a directory in sda4. My first VM was clonezilla. I've bookmarked this video. Very helpful.
Is this real Intel or a fake copy? 😀
You got a vid to passthrough for an intel hd520 igpu for a windows vm on Proxmox 8.3?
can we upload profile picture to that email?🤔🤔
make more videos about proxmoz please. thanks
Do you recommend ZeroTier for a remote access? Have you tried it?
Please make an extra GPU Passthrough Video with my AMD GPU it wont work
Which model have you got mate?
@DigitalMirrorComputing I got an RX 570 and use them with vendor-reset. This only works for Windows VM. I must restart my Linux VM often to geht picture in my Monitor, At the first start I got Always No Signal
0:20 probably a record for how fast I've bailed on a video. You didn't do this for under $12, you spent $12 each on 2 cards and then still needed the cable. Stupid.
@@michaelgleason4791 thanks for watching! Even if just 20 seconds! Every bit helps! 😀
Like your shirt
Get some X520 cards use a DAC cable it runs far cooler than an X540 over RJ45. The X540s are going to over heat without server style airflow in the case.
I noticed a huge improvement in in my ability to browse a large media directory and large media files when compared to Unraid. In the Mac finder, the quick view when I am searching for clips is downright snappy compared to when I was using Unraid. I am using a 2.5G Ethernet connection between the Mac and the Lincstation N1. I would highly recommend TrueNAS over Unraid.
That's a great video, however, I'd recommend against messing around with system files, especially for beginners. To remove the nagging subscription based repositories, I went with the Helper-Scripts, a collection initially started by Tteck (RIP mate, you are the one and only GOAT). Can't wait for some more in-depth videos in the not so distant future :D
That's a great shout mate!! I will certainly keep in mind for future videos!!
Great vid! It's funny i was following along hoping to learn a few tricks on my pve system and when you got to the updates part i did the same and holy %#&%&^*$ I just went through a major upgrade! Had to redo the Subscription Message removal again but its all good...subscribed my dude 😁
Thanks mate!! Really happy it helped! :)))
Sì, mi piacerebbe che tu facessi video più approfonditi delle funzioni di Proxmox come anche di tutte le opzioni per creare le VM e poi anche sui backup, storage e GPU Passthrough sia su Linux che su Windows. Complimenti!
Will this work with a Samsung s24 ultra?
Is adding a rule from Subnet to Subnet not neccessary because this happens at a different layer? Subnets will always be able to talk to themselves?
Thank you.
Thanks Kristof! :)
I bought one and I love it. I use it for my work computer and get I 4.68GB download speed and 4.2GB upload speed. its cool
that's brilliant mate! I think they took it out of the market for a while and maybe reinstated it! Glad it worked for you! :)
hi, good video , but i got an issue, jellyfin cant locate my videos , i have done it over and over .... what do you sugest i try ?
I found your guide to be very well explained, concise and useful, thank you! Subscribed!
Why not a rootless docker?
hi bro, the version 7 is now aviable for unraid so could you explain how to do a migration ? and could we use parity now or always use a pool with zfs? thank you for your help
@@nadagalou I would think so mate! You won't need to do the dummy drive anymore! I think... I haven't tried it yet!
@ could you try and make a tutorial please, i’m very bad in english so it’s difficult for me to all understand in the changelog of the version 7. i’m a french guy your help is welcome mate.
Thank you so much!!!! Massive win for our office.
Excellent tutorial.
It doesn"t work. Ugreen 2.5 works fine.
What a great video! I followed it and it perfectly worked for me (using ISP router, pfsense firewall a switch and my PC), at the very end of the process I was not able to get into the Internet from my PC, but a simple ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew made the magic! I'll work on adding a TP Link Archer device for wifi (just as a temp solution until I get a more robust wireless device) Thank you once again!
I am getting "Failed to find partition number 2 on mmblk1" during the truenas install. Any suggestions?
When you say " log into PFSENSE" I went to the site and its a pretty complicated install depending on the hardware you are using. Am I missing something? Many Thanks, Mike
can you talk about switching DHCP services since ISC DHCP will be deprecated soon?
yeah I know... and it's quite a pain the ass that switch because some of the features on ISC are not yet (and to my knowledge) fully available on KEA. I will definitely put it in my backlog of videos! Thanks for the feedback and the idea! :) I am using ISC still because of the hostname binding.
i fucking love you
looking forward to the next one!
@@patrickstar110 This comment made my day hahah! It's coming mate, I am making more videos like this, even though they don't get as many views, but screw it, I love making these! :)
very well explained Filipe, is it possible to segregate your network using purely layer 2 ( MAC) addresses?
i really wish this worked for me. I bought 2 of the x540-t2 cards from aliexpress, but neither of them work in my truenas scale system. only on my windows pc after driver installation.
Many thanks for the good instructions. I hope that in the future it will be much more user-friendly to create a VPN wiregaurd. It's really a lot of clicking here and there. Copy here and there. Thanks for your work - SUPER !
Excellent, I did everything and my movies don't appear, I created a media folder inside that folder, I created another folder called movies and copied one of my videos, but it doesn't appear in jellifin
Thanks for making this video. My LincStation N1 USB drive failed and LincPlus has been unresponsive. I did run into an issue in the install. When I tried to use the internal mmc drive to install TrueNAS, I got an error when it was attempting to create the file systems: "failed to find partition number 2 on mmcblk1". (There were 3 partitions created by the installer, partition 2 was 512MB.) I dropped into the installer shell and used the gdisk "o" command to make a fresh partition table, but the issue persisted. I ended up plugging in a USB SSD drive to host TrueNAS. IMHO, UnRAID has a serious reliability issue by depending on that USB drive and the GUID key. My LincStation was 3 months old when the USB drive died. I have four nvme 2TB drives and two 2TB SSD drives installed and the LincStation runs warm. I could see the USB drive cooking off in this condition. It makes me wish that I had pulled it out and plugged it in externally ... it might have lasted longer.
I encountered the same "failed to find partition number 2 on mmcblk1" issue installing TrueNAS 24.10.1. Moving back to legacy 24.04.2.5 solved my problem.
This was great and timely. Most nas build videos skip the software and setup for services not everyone might be aware of. You captured the fun and excitement of building a project like this, However those SAS cards tend to run hot and will prevent AMSP from going into C states for really low idle draw. It’s always better to get a motherboard with everything you need on it, as PCIe cards will block low power idle. Like in my build I’m adding a 10Gb NIC to plug right into a 2.5Gb switch with a 10Gb port. I spent days trying to find a nic that’ll allow low power C states with user comments on the card, not just trust Amazon reviews. Anyways, great video.
Hi, great video made it easier. Could you tell me how to use a model that is multimodal like Pixstral or QVQ, I cant get them to work. It will not set up to load images, they respond but not for images? Thanks!
HI, Insightful but not helpful as the 2.7.2 set up has changed a bit and you are eating few steps along the way
what is hba
TRuenas Scale disconnects SMB . It is not reliable.
One critical part you forgot to mention is the CPU make and model. Its probably a lot less power efficient than the ARM processor being used in modern NAS servers or even those SBCs. You will be paying that $400 NAS you mentioned at the beginning through your electricity bill in no time.
Bud, thanks so much for this info!!! That's great! Subscribed!
I was getting confused configuring the android application. This was the only tutorial that explained it. Thank you, it's working now!
Can you create a section describing how to connect two pfsense boxes - main office to home office ? Thanks
This is a great video.
great tutorial, but if a paid vpn provider gives me a private public pair to use, the pfsense gui wont let me change the public key that it generates.
Thank you for your presentation. Can you please tell us what app can we use to sync our phones? For normal users i thing nas is mainly a photo and video storage from different devices.
You did a great job, subcribed!
Nice, I learn so much. Hopefully i can do this builds next year
