EGO Snow Blower, Steep Long Driveway in Deep Dense Snow

EGO Snow Blower, Steep Long Driveway in Deep Dense Snow
That snow blower is for 8” to 10 max sorry dude you need the 2 stadge
agree! But back in 2019 when the video was made the 2 stage was not available.
When motors turns on, the battery voltage drops slightly. When you hit the heavy snow, the motor slows more and the battery voltage drops more. Shut the motor off and the battery voltage returns to its actual state of charge. The battery indicator lights on this unit seem very accurate. After the battery discharges somewhat, the voltage at the battery drops and lights change to indicate it's getting weak. That is a good time to charge the battery if you have a lot more to do, otherwise you can try to finish up the job before the circuit reads too low of voltage and shuts it down. I wouldn't make another pass down that long driveway. Make sure you always charge the batteries fully. Use the charger to tell you it's fully charged, NOT the indicator lights on the battery.
Watching it from my Honda 1332. Woah 😮
"I'll bet Dan Brown listens to Todd"
hard on the shoulders GET A STAGE GASER
Wow…your driveway is huge…
appreciate your density measurement! This really helps understand how much battery is available.
Thanks for the video, it was very interesting. I live in New Hampshire and we get some pretty deep snow here and I don't imagine that an electric machine would be a good fit for me. I'll stick with my 10 horsepower gas burner.
agree with your choice!
That not a steep driveway.
This ego is not designed for this depth and you need a 2 stage blower.
agreed -- at the time EGO only had this model.
@@pearsonjc they now have a 28” 2 stage w electronic single hand chute adjustment, hand warmers and steering paddles. Picked one up yesterday.
@@Oldwiseguy-59 Thanks for that -- can't wait for my single stage unit to break!
@@pearsonjc I use the single stage at back patio or front for mild sub 8” but family loves the easy to operate battery toys,
STOP TALKING AND SNOW BLOW THE DRIVEWAY. THAT IS WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO SEE.
OMG, YOU ARE SOMETHING ELSE. SNOW BLOWING IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.
Looking back on this after a few years I gotta agree with you!
Wow.. From a Canadian, I thank you for the video. I was considering going electric with a similar model, and clearly, not up for the job in any way. Cheers!
There is now a more powerful 2-stage electric model that is also self-propelling -- may be more appropriate for you.
IF anyone is here to see it take on the "end of driveway" snow : its about 4:15 on the clip!!. (I am gobsmacked that you could do that driveway with this snowblower!! very impressed). lol, I would think with your driveway you are definitely in the caregory of needing a 2 stage snowblower. Thanks so much for posting this clip. I am on the fence as to whether I should get a one stage or two stage (its about 8-10 car driveway (double width i.e. 2x5) ). ourbiggest issue is that our aluminim roof will deposit HUGE piles of snow onto our driveway after about half a day of melting a bit after a big snowfall -it is really dense and packed (and more annoying : when it falls off it completely blocks our exit for cars from the garage!!). Thanks again for this clip - great video
Hi Burton, I'm now in the Minneapolis area -- plenty of snow but much smaller driveway better suited to the 1-stage. A few neighbors have the 2-stage EGO but for twice the price, I'd rather get out and make a pass every 8 inches to keep it within the capabilities of the 1 pass. Your aluminum roof situation though could be a good reason to get the two stage. My two 5AH batteries have proven to have plenty of juice for most jobs, recharge in 30 minutes, and are still holding charge well after 4 years of heavy use summer (EGO lawnmower) and winter.
I'll stick to my toro!
We moved to Minneapolis and have a much more manageable driveway now. The EGO+ SNT2102 and the 5amp batteries that came with it are still working great. I use the batteries for mowing, trimming, etc... so they get decent use all year long.
@@pearsonjc I just paid 999.99 on the new self-propelled ego. and took it back and got a new toro 821. now that's a snowblower.
@@gregchapman2035 good to know, and a good price too!
Underpowered. Big time 😔
That kind of snow would be just as hard for a single stage gas powered toro snowblower
is that the rubber auger?
Yes
great video and content with alot of nice details but i cant justify humping my driveway before work early mornings
Most hilarious comment yet - thanks!
forget the snowblower...you NEED TO MOVE
Indeed we did -- but to Minnesota!🤣
@@pearsonjc haha and i thought Northwest Pennsylvania was bad for snowfall accumulation
With this driveway, I think you should invest in the 2-stage version.
Totally Agree!😊
That is not a steep hill, what grade 4 degrees?
it measures 10 percent slope -- 1 foot elevation increase for every 10 steps forward. This is the same as 5.7 degrees. Not steep by skiing or hiking standards, but for running or biking (or pushing a snowblower) its pretty steep. You'd likely want to be in the lowest gear in your bike, for example.
@@pearsonjc Got it
Very nice perfomance! thank you !!!
Two stage gas snowblower.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE BUY SINGLE-STAGE SNOW BLOWERS IF THEY HAVE ANYTHING OVER 4IN OF SNOW!! If you're constantly backing up and plowing into snow all the time basically using your arms like you're doing close grip push-ups over and over again. THAT'S NOT THE RIGHT MACHINE FOR THE JOB!! The whole point of snow blowing is to take stress off your body.. How do I know this I owned a single stage electric corded snowblower Toro and then Snow Joe for 13 years or more. Using a heart strap monitor I tested how much my heart was beating shoveling versus doing what this guy is doing right now.. THE HEART RATE WAS ABOUT THE SAME YOUR HEART IS STILL BEING VERY STRESSED WHEN YOU'RE PLOWING INTO THE SNOW LIKE THIS!!! You need a two-stage snowblower... Probably a great one would be from Toro to have the most innovation. They have a great single stage one which is the SNOWMASTER!! I say this is a great snowblower and recommend the single stage only in this model because the key to snowblowing IS THE SELF-PROPELLED WHEELS!! If you don't have self-propelled wheels you're in for a huge workout.. The next recommendation would be the 24-inch Toro snowblower two stage which is awesome. And if you want automatic steering you have to get the 826.. 26-in model. They also have excellent battery powered two-stage blower now called the PowerMax E24 and E26. Which are excellent.. But the only downfall is exactly what this guy is going through in 8 in or more of snow I DON'T CARE WHAT TORO SAYS!! YOU ONLY GET 30 MINUTES OF SNOW BLOWING.. That's just the way two stage snow blowers are none of them get more than 30 minutes when you have a big storm.. Unfortunately Torah was disingenuous saying The E26 did 30 cars in 10 in of snow!! A COMPLETE MISCONCEPTION WRONG NO WAY NO HOW WILL IT EVER DO THAT!!! You can buy a third battery but that'll cost you $350 to put in the E26 compartment.. Keep in mind that after you snow blow for 30 minutes it'll take you about 3 hours to charge the batteries. Then you need to buy fast chargers that will cost you $100 a piece.. these chargers will allow you to charge the battery In 1 hour and 15 minutes. You have a big property stick with the gas models the two stage battery powered one from Toro can do anything!! It's just the runtime.. ;(
Goosebumps!
Beautiful memories! This was my first performance singing with PVS (or any chorus, for that matter)! Gorgeous music that’s with me forever, even though I probably didn’t do such a good job singing at the time. 😂😂😂. As a group we sounded great!
For that amount of snow, you really need the EGO Powerplus 24" 2-stage snow blower.
No good for NYC snow gas blower much better
You really need the top of the line ego blower using two 7.5 amp batteries 🔋
Great videos, I might have to buy one. need a blower light enough to throw in the bed behind the salter. looks to have some balls too for just the 5AH. your unit just came with a regular speed, single charger right?
Get a 12HP blower done in way less time.
If the batteries can't handle, no thanks. Especially when the city plow packs my driveway. Not for me.
Oh wow, after watching this i'm wondering how i ever considered going cordless electric.
This is too much snow for such a blower compared to other larger gas powered blowers. But I think it shows it’s better than shoveling for many people.
Thing is a toy not a machine
Sorry but, that looks like more work than shoveling it. I'll take my 2 stage Toro 1028 any day over that. It would chew thru that 20 inches of snow effortlessly and throw it 50 feet away.
this is the result of environmentalist that are so concerned about the environment that they would rather spend literally all day struggling with battery operated snow blowers when they could buy a 10-12 horsepower self propelled S/B and be done in 1/3 the time
You need more batteries 😁
You need the 2-stage blower. That little single stage blower isn't made to handle snow like this.
Meanwhile, my Ariens 28" gas 2 stage will blow 65 tons per hour on 6 bucks worth of gas and all I have to do is walk behind it. Not ready for prime time.
That's amazing! Could you provide a pointer to a resource about the blow-rate?
I also live in now country, why don't you go and get a real snow bower and get the job done easer ???
Just nuts I guess!
Awesome video. Love the scenery. Cant wait for snowstorms! I just bought one of these.
Lol @4:21 yelling out "turned red again"... @4:38 "still green!" @4:45 "turned red". @4:53 "both batteries blinking red!"
Cool video and stats. You should get the CoCoRaHS rain gauge so you can find the liquid ratio too. The first 8" looked like 6:1 ratios. I hate those heavy wet snowstorms. Im in CT
Thanks. Now I’m in Minnesota but with a short driveway so much less of a challenge
Hi - does the EGO work with only one battery installed?
yes, just won't last as long.
@@pearsonjc Thanks - I was not sure of this. I already have EGO batteries and plan on using the blower for my patio deck. It is less $$ to but the unit without the batteries.
No thanks I’ll stick with my F-350 & 8’2” Boss V Plow ! Lol 😂
I might consider getting a ride on mower with a blower or blade attachment..
Yes I have a Craftsman LT1000 with blower attachment. It works great and is much more powerful, but I wanted to see what the little Ego could do.
Beautiful voice.
He has other videos equally as lovely
Thanks for listening
So much snow I would Have ate so much
I just bought this at a yard sale with 2 5Ah batteries for $250! I already have an Ego mower, string trimmer, leaf blower, hedge trimmer, edger and cultivator. I won't get a chance to use the snow thrower for about 5 months. But after seeing this driveway being plowed, it's going to be bored with mine. Question about it though. The right hand green hand screw, does this press into the plastic causing the plastic to flex or is this something that could be broken on this second hand thrower?
