Uncovering Inner Peace in Japan (alone in Kanazawa) [Travel Vlog 2024]
This life-changing trip through Japan continues onto my second stop in Kanazawa. After a vibrant introduction to Japan in Tokyo, I didn't quite know what to expect when exploring this new city. The time spent here turned out to be exactly what I needed.
I share some crucial reflections in this one that are important for us all to think about.
I'm still just grazing the surface of what these insights could look like in my life, so I hope my musings encourage you to reflect on the shape these topics take in your life. I would love to hear any thoughts you might have in the comments below :-)
All the best ~ Vlad

The British Museum - all the stuff we've looted over the last 500 years.
London is a metropolitan diverse, cosmopolitan city - if you are into that kind of thing. But it is not England. NYC is not as cosmopolitan as London and it does never shutdown even though NYC claims 24/7. The " British" accents you hear in London are pretty much foreigners English accents not native English. The majority of actual genuine English accents you may hear are London cockney and Essex accents.
Big Ben is not big Ben is the bell in side that tower of Queen Elizabeth 2.
Still shocks me how someone with anxiety especially social anxiety, can stand filming themselves... the thought horrifies me
Cut the background music out of the videos and you might have a decent chanbel. Background music is very distracting in videos and not necessary. It really spoils any video.
The free dissemination of knowledge collected and centralised and available for the people. Brought from all around the world that we influenced, mainly for good! meuseums and librarys open and for free
When you travel around london you arn't experiencing what the UK has to offer, You are experiencing what other countries have to offer in London, The ironic thing was when you came out of the 'London' History museum, And you said, If you want to learn about the 'World' 🤣🤣 London is a horrible expensive over populated multi cultural tourist trap and pretty much represents the UK in absolutely no way shape or form, I was glad to get out of the city after 28 years and will never look back. You can all kid yourselves what a lovely city it is but that comes with a lack of experience outside of your city or deep down know you cant leave, or wont leave, due to fammily, work or just general anxiety of change which allot of people suffer with, Such a shame, Because the truth is the grass really is greener.
What a wonderful video ❤😊🎉, and London is fabulous. Next time visit the Victoria and Albert museum. It would be perfect for you because of your interest in marketing. Good luck with all your plans.
I love my city, lovely that you enjoyed your trip
My god you travelled!
Just a 5 minute walk from Notting Hill is Leinster Gardens where you will find a big beautiful massive faked terrace house at No 23. It is just a frontage to hide a train line that runs underneath 😂. It’s just one of 80,000 odd thousand sometimes quirky things we had to find to on the streets of London to qualify and become a London black taxi driver. Oh and a 15 minute walk from there is London smallest house on Bayswater Road just before Marble Arch. Great vid, London does have thousands of amazing places to see. Edit; There is also another fake house in the Pimlico/Victoria area.
Came here for the views of London, and stayed for the thoughtful and intelligent reflection on London's history, technology, and philosophy!
Thank you brother🙏
Big Ben is the clock bell which is housed at the top of the Elizabeth Tower not the whole thing. Good, thoughtful and intelligent musings.
This is a well organised synopsis for the story of London. To add to it: London, West to East and similar, North to South is 30 Miles; does that help??
There's much more variety in London than New York.
You need to learn camera technique. This was appalling!
Any student of architecture should visit the Sir John Soane Museum at Lincoln's Inn Field. Sir John's designs include the Bank of England and Dulwich Picture Gallery; his home is truly amazing.
How many actual English people did you come across in London, the Capital of England?
There are many video clips online featuring American tourists in our country, and quite honestly as a group they appear to be VERY ignorant when it comes to other countries, their history and where, exactly, they are geographically. This presenter has come as a very welcome surprise......thank you for sharing your experience with us........and do come back and see the rest of the UK, it's a small country but it has SO much to offer!
Not sure why this vlog was recommended by YT but I lived in London for 19 years and lived to many cities or countries around the globe but I fell in love here in London, yes it’s expensive but there is something about this country. Lovely accent and you looks so great in the video🙏🏻🤗
It's always refreshing to have an intelligent view of London, and yes, there is lots to see. HOWEVER, it is important to realise that the places you visited are on the whole very gentrified and only the rich or very rich can afford to live there. Property prices and rents are ludicrously unaffordable which means the vast majority of those working in London live in pretty dire, dystopian, unattractive but still very expensive accommodation a long way out from the centre. Foreign money and billionaires have virtually hijacked the whole central part of the city. So what you are seeing is really a kind of fantasy far removed from the life of the average Londoner.
@ThisIsVladG the enlighten British appreciate your visit and candidness, we are a very self-deprecating kingdom but often take an interest in the views of those from other countries to point out the positives [and sometimes negative but we are experts in doing this ourselves]. The UK is not sun drenched and exotic, but it is one of the earthly gardens of Eden rich in culture [good and bad] that is worth preserving. I often felt if a god/deity was to preserve one country/kingdom as a time capsule it would be the UK. Thank-you for this vlog hope to see you come back. Cheerio!
What exactly DID you expect?
Hi there, just wanted to drop by and say how much we enjoy your smoothly filmed and considered style. Very enjoyable as always, keep them coming, you know they are appreciated. All the best Yvonne and Mike
Thank you so much 🥲
This was really fascinating to watch you 'contemplate' your way around London, and so eloquently. A really different take on the usual travelogue. Fully agree with all your thoughts about the overabundance of information now and yet how much more important the primary sources feel for helping us better understand the world and our trajectory to now. I worked in an archive for many years and came to deeply appreciate the physical objects that our ancestors have left us, the means they recorded their experience of the world and collated information. You feel a connection to the items and the information and learn so much more than just reading a transcript on a phone screen, without the objects and all the surrounding context. Museums, galleries, archives are arguably more vital to us now than ever...there are parts about how they've been formed which are problematic, but we have to protect and promote their contents at all costs, wherever they sit.
I’ve lived in London for 35 years and you did more in a few days than I’ve done in a lifetime!
Please stop saying "British accent" there is no such thing!!! There are English accents Scottish Accents Welsh and Irish but no british ffs.
An interesting watch. I've been to London about 25 times but it was interesting to see the place through your eyes.
Such an interesting thoughtful video!
The UK is absolutely amazing. My favorite place in the whole world.
I have to say that the recent massive demographic change in London was not invited nor voted for by the British people. We are a minority there now.
Hey... great post sharing some of your observations and perceptions about Japanese culture. I've had the fortune to visit Japan as I've always been drawn to the culture, aesthetics, etc.. alongside with intrigue about how a nation with very limited natural resources put their cars in every corner of the globe and global prevalence of their cuisine. That said your callout on how everything (in you Kanazawa garden walk...and extrapolation to broader culture there) seems very thought out.. "intentionality"... really hit me as maybe one of the 'whys' Japan has been such a successful country, at least economically speaking. Thanks for another great post. Happy travels.
@@MIA_DaDe I absolutely relate to your curiosity to better understand Japan’s outsized impact on the global economy! Its obviously quite unfair to over-simplify all of the different factors involved, but I’m glad to hear that some of my personal thoughts resonated with you🙏🏼 The intentionality found in Japan’s culture is something that really stuck with me throughout my travels in the country
@@ThisIsVladG ..A...."P.S." to my earlier comment. Regarding the 'outsized' impact spiders had on your Kenrokuen Garden experience.... spiders (pretty much everywhere) tend to go into hyper drive building webs in late Summer/Autumn loading up on calories from flying insects (and inattentive tourists lol) as they get ready for leaner times in Winter.
As they say there are many histories, not just one history. I am very grateful to historians, however it is fun to explore various avenues to find the histories from people who maybe recorded their moment in a variety of ways other than the written word. Your video was very sensitive and fun, I love my capital city.
Very good but you made me hungry..😂
Wow, an educated American on TH-cam - a breath of fresh air. Thank you

A very interesting and intelligent commentary, and some neat editing.
Thank you for reminding me of the great things that can be found in the city I was born and raised in.

Thank you so much for watching! I would love to hear from you -- did any of the reflections shared in the video resonate with you?
Definitely resonated with how certain Japanese places encourage focusing on what's in front of you. I was able to visit the shrines in Kyoto, Osaka, and the famous deer park (in Nara?). I'm into anime which was also awesome to see how big it is there. I hope to visit again soon
There are other places in the U.K than London. Don't miss out. Try York.
Love how gorgeous you make London look. I'm having fun spotting familiar areas like bits of Holland Park, Westminster, Mayfair and Spitalfields etc. Those of us who live here can take it for granted.
Charming vid! ...but! ...what on earth is the fleurescent pink thing on that plate of food you show just before the shot of Hyde Park? 😮
