Difficult Approach into STL (With ATC) - MSFS CRJ 700
มุมมอง 5872 ปีที่แล้ว
Flying the CRJ 700 into STL out of IAH on VATSIM. Busy night on the network thanks to Friday Night Ops (FNO) featuring IAH and a few others. I fly the CRJ 700 into St Louis because I want to experience some rough weather. We'll be dueling against low clouds, some restricted visibility, possibly some rain and gusty winds as a strong low pressure system sits over the central US. First flight on V...
MSFS Full Flight Chicago - Manhattan (KS) (VATSIM)
มุมมอง 9352 ปีที่แล้ว
Today flying the AeroSoft CRJ-700 on the VATSIM network from Chicago O'Hare KORD to a small airport in the Little Apple, KMHK. It's an airport I'm extremely familiar with and a route operated daily into Manhattan KS. This is on ultra settings at 1440p. Had ATC all the way up until we got to the St Joe VOR. Basically flew the approach all the way by ourselves. Not necessarily a tutorial but if y...

Flying the CRJ 700 to Minimums (ILS) in Tropical Storm Winds (MSFS)
มุมมอง 1.6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Join me as I fly the Aerosoft CRJ 550/700 to land in tropical storm force conditions at KRDU, Raleigh Durham, in MSFS. We use ILS to assist our approach through blinding rain, gusty winds to 42 knots and near max crosswind conditions. The visibility and ceiling are low enough that we have to take the ILS to minimums, verging on a go-around, before making contact with the runway and getting down...

Quick question, how do you get your sim camera to move in that way? Is it an addon or?

I'm legally blind, so I guess I'll just have to stick to VFR local flights. Everything on the charts looks so tiny. LOL Thanks for the tutorial. :)

This would be a lot more useful if you redo it at a time of day and approach direction that would keep the instruments visible instead of being in shadows and so unreadable. Thanks for the video.

You keep hearing the "grapevine" say how much VATSIM controllers do NOT want to handle emergencies so I'm glad this one played along. More sophisticated add-ons for MSFS are now coming with general wear and tear and very real possibilities of non-normal operation, so I'm kind of hoping that the controllers will warm up to the idea.

  • @JohnVanderbeck
    @JohnVanderbeck 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

I'm convinced they couldn't have made a more confusing system of airspaces had they tried (whoever the THEY was back in the day)

  • @JohnVanderbeck

"vpilot notification for text messages" Oh so THAT is what it is. f'ing annoying especially since it plays over the system audio NOT the vpilot selected audio which means it comes over my sim audio which is really loud instead of my headphone audio which is lower.

Hi great video. Just a question, when you are starting the final to landing you say “you are come in in a crab angle…” (4:56). I understand this crab angle is the one created by the weathervane effect, not a crab angle you created. Am I right?. I ask because before I always understood this crab angle you need to create it changing the heading by x degrees, but now I tried I realize the plane itself because of the weathervane effect is “naturally” in a crab angle.

Great videos. Just food for thought....use the Fix page and place a 5nm ring from the end of your runway (a 10 mile ring as well if you need it for sit awareness). This is helpful so you have a visual marker when to lower gear and get the bird setup for final. I have noticed that you drop the gear way too early when shooting the approach. I noticed that you dropped the gear at 15 nm miles out from the airport. You should keep speed up (180 kts or so unless advised by ATC to slow) until about 5 nm or so. Then drop the gear and slow to VREF. Just food for thought. Not trying to be critical. Good job on the vids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha you're so right. I'm getting ready to head off to training in about 4 weeks for an airline. My how much I've learned since these days!! When I finish training, I plan on getting a new build (I sold the one I used to make these videos) and get back to producing educational content. Probably multiple very IFR-focused, jet specific stuff..some prop ones too. I've learned so much in the last 15 months teaching IFR and private pilot. About 5 months from flying an airbus for the first time. Can't wait to produce new uploads.
