Comgrow T500 doing what we bought it to do
having these two giant ring gears custom printed would have cost half the price of the printer on pre-order. Since a tool user has to have tools to use, we decided to acquire the tool instead of paying someone else to have all the fun. So here it is printing the thing it was purchased to print.

    Anyone else have big problems with the x-axis shifting layers? There's a lot of it on reddit but on youtube everything seems fine. Mine is impossible to get a useful print from. $900 IN THE TRASHBIN. Support from the company is nonexistent.

    I’ve seen a lot of videos of it being much much faster than this. But I can update more later once I get mine.

      How do you like it? I just put an order in and I'm seeing some scary reviews on Amazon, wondering if I need to cancel the order.

    Wonder if it makes sense time-wise to use the thing for its flat bed area but not its height. I have some designs that will print many-up per plate on the SV07+. It would be interesting to know if the bigger one had some operating efficiency in that regard.

    Enjoyed this. I have 2 of the T500's, they both work fine. Support has been great as well. I agree with you, it is not a quiet printer, although if you slow it down a bit, it's not really that bad in anything other than a bedroom. But of course, huge prints need speed... All in all, I'm glad I have it.

    I'm almost pulling the trigger on this printer. So you recommend it? I will be using it to make automotive parts like mirror housings, bumpers, grills, etc.

      So far I've found that it does a serviceable job on all kinds of prints including printing place flexible pieces. One of the goals for this project is to be able to print models that we can then cast base metal or aluminum parts in for classic cars because we have several in our own collection. Right now I would recommend.

    • @YeOldeToolUsers-fi5wk
      @YeOldeToolUsers-fi5wk 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Remember, it is only 500x500. Won't print a whole bumper or grill.

    • @YeOldeToolUsers-fi5wk
      @YeOldeToolUsers-fi5wk 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also remember it is only an 80 degree bed, so until someone comes up with a work around it won't be printing exotics or engineering filament. I am sure with a big enough installed user base, somebody will come up with a way to increase the bed temperature, but that is not where it is right now

      @@YeOldeToolUsers-fi5wk Oh totally aware, right now I'm running several Longer LK5 Pro's which are only 300x300x400 and they give really nice prints but they are SLOOOOOOOW. So hoping to bump the speed up a little bit and get more volume. Please keep us updated.

      Yeah I'm looking into this printer for the exact same purpose. 500mm is roughly 19.5" and that would be big enough for most things I need to make to only require 2 part molds vs 3-4 piece mold with smaller printers. That said it is still almost double the price of two Elegoo Neptune 4 that is 420x420x500 and the neptune prints a lot faster !!

    A few days in, and after some problem sorting aided by a very professional and responsive support team halfway across the planet, I can give a few more impressions. First, this is not a quiet printer. Doesn't bother me at all but some folks might not be happy with that. I found the preset retraction settings to be a bit off, still dialing those in. But overall I like this printer for what it is. Will still use my other printers for most of my work, but this will come in handy for so many special projects. I can't say enough good about my interaction with support and if for no other reason than that I recommend this printer for folks that have need for the size.

    Just an update. 3 days into using the printer the bed just stopped heating. Now being one of the pre-order customers I was actually expecting some bugs. What I was concerned most about is how support would work halfway across the planet, and with the limitations of just working by text. I must admit that the whole thing went more smoothly than I could have asked for. Their engineers understood my problem, gave me a diagnostic check to verify, and gave me a work-around (probably a bit risky, but my choice). A replacement part has also been authorized. So far I see no reason to pass on this printer if you have very large parts to print.

    FYI the bed leveling takes a really long time and it will do it on it's own. You have to be patient with it. :)

    I have access to a glass shop that can make me a glass sheet any size I want. Would I be able to place a tempered piece of 500x500x500 glass on top of this surface? I really want to get this printer but wanted a glass surface. Or a clean sheet of stainless. Also, since the bed only does 80c is there anyway of upping the power of the power supply to get it up to 110c so we can print ASA?

    That is how I ended up doing the calibration on mine as well. So far klipper hasn't been too bad, although I am still learning it. I do like the printer so far.

      So far, the mesh seems to be very accurate and there are no obvious errors in the first large print we are making. Have noticed that bed adhesion to the pei plate is a bit excessive at least with the sample filament. Will update this observation as I have the chance to use different filaments. Overall I am impressed, but I haven't done enough testing to really nail down my opinion. I can say I have experience with several new release printers and so far this one shows the most potential and the most out-of-the-box functionality of all.

      What many people don’t get is, that full spools take significant space in packaging especially with smaller printers. With large printers that doesn’t matter, since there’s always room left, but if you have to enlarge boxes you need more containers and storage which is expensive on large scale. It’s not mainly about the filament cost.

    I do bed mesh, (saves, restarts klipper) then home, z-tilt, then z calibration (paper trick) then save config again. If you have a computer I highly recommend finding your machines IP address and punching that IP address into your web browser. It’s SOO much easier running it from the computer in my opinion. I’ve had my t500 a couple weeks now and I like it but I’m less Impressed with Klippers wonkyness. I’ve found a way to make it freeze every time and I hate having to kill it and re-heat everything. Hope there will be some updates.
