    Allison at EMG told me that the 18-volt mod was actually better and had more output than the 24 volt. She said you can actually run 27 volts on the 81/85s But I've heard the difference on TH-cam and it does seem like the 24 volts put out more even though she says the a 18s do.. but she said they would handle 27v for some reason I can't wrap my simple little brain around that.. I'm going to ask her again to explain that to me.. but when I do it's going to expose that brain goes numb whenever numbers are involved lol you can call them or email them. They are excellent on responding. They will even check up on you to see how things are going.. you can ask anybody down there if you want to contact them but Alison is the one I talk to and Alex.. So instead of getting the 24 I'm just going to get the 18v and the 24v .. screw it😅

I'm thinking she's meaning that you can pull 27 volts out of the 18 by utilizing two battery spaces it has I think I'm not quite sure. I'll talk to them more about it but I am going to get both of them. But I do personally think the 24 sounds better

    The problem is that ESP’s QC standards for the LTD stuff have gone way down. Not THAT many years ago, when even their Korean stuff was $500-$800 new, they were much more reliable than they have become as prices have skyrocketed. Even the Indonesian stuff CAN be great, but the more guitars they reject and the more time they spend on QC in those factories, the more it cuts into their profit margins. This goes for all the various brands that have products coming out of all these same factories. These guitars are all being made in the same places by the same people, but they’re having to churn out really large numbers of them to keep up with demand. It is definitely important these days to buy from businesses that have generous return policies or try it out in person first if you can.

    • @jordansguitarchannel3809

      Absolutely man. It kinda sucks to have to make videos like this. I had a couple of Korean 400 series in the early 2000s that punched far above their price. I really wish they’d focus on QC before moving forward with new models, they can be great guitars.

      @@jordansguitarchannel3809 Yep I have bought many Korean import guitars over the years, and for a long time the LTD line was one of the ones you could feel pretty confident about - Korean LTD’s were likely to be very good guitars. My experiences with Korean Schecters has always been inconsistent in comparison. There have been some interviews with people from WMI Korea that have reiterated what we should all know already, that is how much time and money a brand is willing to spend on QC is really what determines how good their guitars are.

    I use tone knob. But all in all a glossy neck on a shred guitar is just silly. I bet the decision was made by someone who just stares at guitars instead of playing them. It's funny how well frets are finished on Sire's guitar, which are less than half the price of that Ltd. Neck's in satin. Rounded fretboard. It's more Deluxe than a well known brands. That's what people pay for the most. Today's 1000+ jacksons and other rguitars are more frequently made in China. Because you need to cut the production costs.

      This is a major problem in the industry as a whole right now and it doesnt seem like its going to change or get better any time soon. Many of these issues are because of GLOBAL inflation and stringent, over bearing government regulations on imported woods (mainly in many Western countries). So many legacy brands have basically sold out most of their major manufacturing to Indonesia, South Korea and China. Its to the point where the majority of these brands barely produce anything in their own countries anymore which in turn, hurts their own economies/people because these companies aren't willing to pay their own people a fair wage (this isnt just the guitar industry but major manufacturing as a whole). And if you do want to pay for lets say a U.S. made, German made, Japanese made etc, etc, you basically are getting into custom shop territory at this point. Its one thing if the "cheap" imports were actually that, cheap. But when a made in Indonesia Ibanez bass guitar (bass player here) is the same price as a U.S. made Fender bass/guitar but of lesser quality, that is a MAJOR issue. These companies are paying people basically pennies to mass produce a shit ton of instruments that have all of the premium bells and wistles that you would normally get if the instrument was built in their home countries but, there is (like you guys have stated) no QC basically. This is the fault of the major brands, the major retailers AND the consumer. You think for one second these legacy brands don't know this is an issue? They are supposed to be the next in line for QC. They dont care anymore, they want their money. If the major retailers cared (Guitar Center, Sweetwater, etc), they wouldnt buy in wholesale and accept any of these dud instruments, but they are because they need to make money too. And theyre all banking on the fact that We the consumer wont notice. Only way you really notice these issues is if you work on your own instruments and lets just face it, about half of the people who own instruments, dont do their own set ups/maintainance. They take it to a luthier or an idiot at GC to do the work for them and THEY see the problems. Its almost like a huuuge scam at this point. Somethings gotta give man. This isnt sustainable. Indonesia does not have a rich history for guitar manufacturing. Not like Japan, England, U.S.A., Germany, etc etc. Take Made in Mexico Fenders for example, at least the Mexican people have a rich history of luthier building. I trust a Fender MIM. Do I prefer it? Not really, but do I believe the quality will be garbage? No. Korea is kind of (sorta) almost in Japan territory since they have been in the game for a while now and theyre no longer a 3rd world country. Where an instrument is produced matters. Someone who works at a factory/guitar shop in their own country, getting a fair wage for their hard work, is going to take much more pride and care into their instrument than some sweatshop worker over seas, making pennies an hour, being over worked to mass produce what will end up being an exploited, over priced, dud. The people who are being exploited dont care, theyre doing it to survive and they have strict deadlines to meet and it all shows in the "quality" of craftsmenship.. I think you guys get the point.

    Hi Jordan. Another great discovery and excellent sound. Some time ago I asked you for advice, regarding the Engl Fireball 100w head, which I finally bought with a 2x12 Engl cab and I am completely satisfied with it. I simply added my mxr saturation pedal to be able to work on the sound and I arrive at a tone between Internal Suffering era, Unmerciful Extermination and, Disgorge with, cranial Impalement. Thanks again.

      Absolutely man, the key components are the settings on the amp which you can see on the red channel, Friedman Buxom Boost eq on all knobs set to noon that’s running into the front of the amp. Throughout the loop I’m running the Revv G8 to cut noise and the MXR six band with the levels set to 0 on the pedal which is stock settings just to bring everything up a little bit ala Dimebag.

      @@jordansguitarchannel3809 perfect I'm gonna grab it. I keep seeing that the captor is not reactive and passive. Do you think it colors your tone at all? I'm about to pull the trigger on one today. Also I'm thinking about getting that revv g8. This is going to sound dumb but how are you able to run the gate through the about and fx loop and then run drive, eq, ect through the front of the amp? Apreaciate it in advance!

    • @jordansguitarchannel3809
      @jordansguitarchannel3809 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In my ears it doesn’t color, if it does it’s barely noticeable. As far the Revv pedal it’s fantastic and how I use it is in the four cable method. I’m attaching a link that shows how to hook it up that way. Basically the gate goes into the loop and time based effects and out into your drive pedals to the front of the amp. manuals.plus/m/c33537b32b766f8c9275385b3c9243f1efdd2f60f2baf312971521e915aea5a7_optim.pdf

It ruined my treat for myself, ive had older good jacksons. If a 2002 Cort G series beats it for fret buzz, nope. These things are not cheap! Shouldnt habe to sent it to a Luthier. Im curious if you have fishman pickups in other guitars? They are brighter than emgs to my ears and in all honesty i prefer them. I have a korea made snakebyte in white. It was perfectly fine in the shop. I got it home and within 24 hours i had a neck crack. 8 years later, i have done nothing to it. Its not needed any adjustments or fretwork etc. The crack has grown slightly. But to get it repaired coats the same as the guitar was new so i will live with it! In all honesty though, my cort 7 string is as good if bot better than the snakebyte and cost me £400 less!
