Peter Blauvelt - First Symphony in two movements (1979-1980) Moravian Philharmonic, Joel Eric Suben (cond.) Peter Blauvelt's music is contemporary sounding, but in the classical tradition with occasional forays into the avantgarde, meditative and more traditional classical music. Individual pieces tend to be fairly well structured, but don't necessarily follow textbook rules, or those of serial...

What a lovely discovery
Definition of a potboiler.
Molt bo!
From Tom and Jerry
It's those two notes..
...Love this music - and You, Valentin!
Now I understand why You, Alfred and Arvo were friends... Love You and Your Music! P.S: A deep bow to You, Maestro!
Ethereal and fascinating.
Love it!

Spot on. On Being Monad.
sound but not music.
What's the painting shown above?
I've just added the painting info to the description. Sometimes I forget .......
Metal as always, Smolsky! 🤘
En effet, un musicien sincère avec une âme d'une grande pureté que j'ai eu le privilège de connaître et de lui offrir en quelque sorte la salle Jacques Hétu du département de musique de l'UQAM!

Mysterious, scary music, but beautiful.
some really nice passages of music as we see often in Gipps work,..Bravo!
Sounds like from his dodecaphonic period...
The composer's name is Yoshimatsu. (NOT 'Yostimatsu'.)
These are more than citations; Silvestrov literally has stolen from Liebermann Concerto for Jazz Band and Symphony Orchestra, Introduction, from 1954. Compare! Nevertheless highly interesting!

Finalmente. Un Grande.🎉
The key is E minor.
After one month I finally got it. Not for everybody.
Wow! I studied composition at multiple universities for a long time, and I was not familiar with Richard Arnell but I'm glad I am becoming so! I must admit, at the beginning of the piece, I heard what I thought was a stodgy call/response /imitative sequence that made me only very briefly think that I wouldn't be interested in continuing to listen. After a second or two however, I was re-engaged, and transfixed for the duration of the 1st movement. ( all that I've had time to listen to, to this point - but I was excited to comment.) The nuance and complexity of the movement will require much more listening and analysis, but here are some first impressions: he seems to use diatonic, English type folk and hymnal material as a point of departure, before he bursts into jaunts of thrilling yet manageable chromatic prolificacy. The very powerful and skillful orchestration is at times both sinewy and frenetic. I repeat - Wow!
BIS box of complete Pettersson is changing my life!
Aho is forever restless and searching. He seems to know no complacency. I would like to know which of his works he values the most and why but it would also not surprise me to find out that he never looks back.
Thanks for posting, I agree! But it is one of his MANY standout works. His music deserves to be much better known whilst he is still alive & living in Bristol. He will be 75 this year!! His Violin Concerto is one of the greatest written in the 20th Century in my opinion: alongside those by Elgar (1910), Stravinsky (1931), Berg (1935), both Bartok (1908 &1938), Karl Amadeus Hartman's "Concerto Funebre" (1939), Britten (1939), Ligeti (1990) & etc... The great tradition continues this century, including with Knussen (2002), Ades Op.23 "Concentric Paths" (2005) & Péter Eötvös (2014 - the greatest so far this century?). Tragically, Eötvös died just 6 days ago on 24th March 2024, aged only 80.
This is interesting, would be good for a serious anime
Excellent upload!

Intense. Haunting. Disturbing. Enchanting.
Extraordinary
Kamran was one of my composition teachers. This is one of his finest works. A great performance as well.
A powerful piece, thanks for sharing.
genius with a touch of madness

Truer than truth itself
You hooked me with the Leonora Carrington painting.
This deep, dark, brooding symphonic creation, anguished and intense in its conception, heart-wrenching in performance, gets interrupted every 3.1 minute by 5 second ads hawking an air freshener, a bag of potato chips or a roll-on anti-antiperspirant? Shameful. Even in a capitalist market, there has to be some guidelines, lest good taste itself becomes just another commodity for sale.
That shouldn't happen. I've got "mid-roll" ads turned off . . .
@@symphonious_rex What you say should not happen, happened. I got so tired of all the commercials I could not make it through to the end of the piece.
@@stddisclaimer8020 Maybe I can't control the ads on the music that's copyright..
