How to Make Half Lap Joints with a Miter Saw - Easy Beginner's Guide
In this video I show you how to make a Half Lap woodworking joint on a sliding compound miter saw. I go over Cross Lap and End Lap joints. At the end, I also show a good way to make the joint permanent. I intended this guide to be for the very beginner, or woodworkers not familiar with a miter saw. The saw I used in this video was the Skil 10" sliding compound miter saw, and I have a affiliate Amazon link for it below if you like it.

Propane Tank Valve Removal Made Simple With Common Tools - Quick Tip

In this video I show you how to remove a propane tank with common tools. Its a simple process, but takes some elbow grease. The hardest part is keeping the tank from turning as you wrench, which I show you how to do. You Won't Find A Cheaper Easier Saw Blade Cleaner
มุมมอง 952ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I show you the cheapest and easiest way to clean your saw blades and drill and router bits. Saw blades often get gunked up if you are cutting green wood, or wood that has alot of sap in it. The sap hardens and is very difficult to get off, and not just any cleaner can get sap off. This is why saw blade cleaner tends to be expensive, running about $15 plus a bottle. They also make ...

I know ya said overnight to dry, but *actually how long does this take to dry?* I am doing a cedar shingle project. 270 shingles needed, I cut and sanded to 6" x3 ", with a 1-1/2" radius on the end. VERY time consuming, But with THIS finish, its going to turn out awesome!
Just got my Skill 10'' miter, really awesome, but the clamp while quick, is quite limp. I was cutting a short piece from a 12'' wide board and noticed that my cut could quite easily be off as the blade could likely move it while initiating or the cut. The clamp on my last miter saw could be cranked as tight as needed, and it was not nearly as nice as this saw.
Great video! I appreciated not only the design concept, but the business analysis at the end. Pressure treated wood has come a long way, and while a study conducted by Iowa State University found that the chemicals will leach into the soil - they're usually not taken up by the plant - so not a health issue for the grower/consumer. HOWEVER, you should be wearing a proper dust mask, and doing everything you can to mitigate dust in your shop. I see you have young children and the dust IS a concern for them. This from the ISU study: Copper azole is a water-based wood preservative that prevents fungal decay and insect attack; it is a fungicide and insecticide. It is widely used throughout the United States and Canada. Type A contains copper, boric acid, and tebuconazole, while Type B only contains copper and tebuconazole. CA is a water-based preservative that can be cleaned and painted. A 2014 study found that exposure to copper that was released from the surface of CA treated wood could result in an acute toxic exposure for children less than 8 years old... Don't burn the sawdust, and don't use the sawdust as a mulch or soil amendment. Be safe. I look forward to watching more of your videos - you do a great job!
Ugh you fast forward the most important part for me, I just bought this tool and I’m having a difficult time putting the blade in
$189 right now for Prime Day, as of 11 PM EDT, 7/16/24. Hopefully it's still that for tomorrow!
I would like to thank you so much for taking the time to go through this. I bought this product over 3 years ago and wanted to change my passcode because I felt too many people had it from contractors. NO ONE went through these steps thoroughly and the newer versions have the hugolog instead of *star key. This really made my day.
Amazon, although never having the best price available, has EVERYTHING and usually delivers quickly. A good source for hardware like screws, nuts, nails, and bolts when fast is good, especially with Prime. Not my fav, but....
one woman asked me to make her a hexagon planter. 2 foot wide. i said 45 pounds. she said its too expensive. hahahahah what world is she living in
2 years i made planters from free offcuts. i made more money from custom builds. made 18 this year. sold 4. lol. scotland uk. i got loads of timewasters. timewasters put me off making planters next year. i made them all in the winter and with the idea like you said. theyre all built ready to go. they didnt go. hahaha. next year ile make bird boxes. funky looking ones. looking for projects to inspire me for next year. how much did you calculate your working hours at? how many dollars an hour? including gas costs of deliverys
put angles on corner posts. youl also need a brace running either side
The reason why doubling your mAh capacity made such an improvement is you are overloading the cells -- drawing too much current. Normal laptop batteries are more optimized for capacity and not for ability to provide high currents. Normal power tool batteries are the opposite. A laptop battery might be designed to provide 2-3C (a 2Ah cell might provide 4A to 6A) while a power tool battery might be designed to provide up to 40C (a 2Ah cell might provide up to 80A). Putting cells in parallel doubles the C, doubling the ability to output current. And once past design specifications, we could talk about cell brands, degradation of used vs. new cells, pack balance, and a multitude of other factors. I think for doing this project it might be better to start with an economical name brand tool battery. This might involve digging thru the recycle bin at a local big box for cells and a BMS to salvage, or even purchasing a new battery to get the cells and bms (e.g. Ryobi 18v(20v) batteries might be a 2Ah for $40 or on sale two of 4Ah for $80, or a 2Ah+4Ah+charger for $100).
I was using harbor freight battery tools ages ago. My father in law gifted me a Ryobi 18v drill and saw kit (the old blue and yellow ones with NiCd batteries). Still using those Ryobi tools now with Ryobi One+ li-ion batteries and have since purchased more Ryobi tools. The li-ion batteries were/are a great upgrade for tool performance.
How do you enable the USB port?
Great idea, My suggestion when using the flush cut saw place a playing card on the board under the saw so the saw will not rub and scratch the wood.
Good video. Illinois?
I like the dowel idea
I think you did outstanding!! Mistakes and all!! Are you going to stain it?
Thank you so very much for this video. I just picked up a 20" delta, older unit, but a good oner. Has what you call snipe. Going to check the tables to see if this is the problem. Again, Thank you! Eric

A video I made just for you! Is Pressure Treated Wood Safe For Garden Beds? th-cam.com/video/tQh09pJ-M_0/w-d-xo.html
Excellent presentation . I got the same saw some weeks ago and it’s surprisingly good
This looks a lot like my old Remington Pole Saw. I will be buying this one. Man, that looks just like my Remington. That Remington would cut through anything as long as that chain was sharp. Great video, buddy. 👍
Thanks for posting this information. I used corrugated steel panels to make my raised beds. They last a long time and cost less than pressure treated wood; however, the sun heats the steel, which heats the soil and it dries out fast. The beds have to water more frequently than my garden.
Terrible for leaf pickup. I have an electric one that works better than this trash, leaf blower works okay though
Suggest putting the beeswax in will reduce the soaking penetration into the wood.I use a one third each of Tung oil, linseed oil and vegetable turps which is applied with 1000 wire wool, couple of applications drying between and once surface is dry then apply the beeswax. Have used on kitchen laminate wood tops with excellent results water resistance, can be re oiled waxed as necessary.
Great job, as was mentioned in a previous post by @lynnetonn, you are the First to mention the lock lever. Picked up some key points. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I have this saw, and it sucks. Though, I payed 50 bucks for the thing. I shouldn't compare it to my 300 doallar dewalt saws. I guess for 50 bucks it works good enough, what can you expect for the something under 100. nice review
Informative
Chain got loose , make a video fixing it
I also have the pallet buster and the Air Locker. Two of the best tools in my entire shop!
I put up the same pickets and had very similar issues with the pickets etc. I too wanted to save some money so I used 2x2 top and bottom and a 2x4 center. I don't have any regrets there, the 2x4 across the center gave it more than adequate strength. Watching this video I remember the pain and time I wasted trying to get everything perfect, wasn't worth it once the pickets started drying smh lol All in all it looks very good and does what a fence should do. I kept the bottom of the pickets off the ground about 2" and ran a picket along the bottom to the ground, kinda like trim molding lol.. This way I'm hoping the fence pickets will last a lot longer without the ground contact and picket running across the bottom gives it a finished looked, plus its a lot easier to replace one of the pickets running across if rot develops on it instead of risking rot on the bottom of all of them over time. 6 years and counting all is well! Great tips for anyone looking to make their own fence, keep up the great work and videos!
Hi David! Just sharing from my personal experience of building and using fence picket beds is they need a support board running across the center of the long boards. The weight of the dirt, more so after it takes on water will cause the sides to bow out and that isn't a good look, especially when selling. The additional cost is minimal, as is the time. With all that shared I want to say I just found your channel and subscribed. I build a lot of things in my garage and love YT for new ideas and techniques. Now I'm off to enjoy some more of your videos 👍
Thanks for the info!
Its ok
Awesome, thanks for making this video
Great tips, thanks! I’ve got my posts in and going to buy the rest of the lumber today. Do you think cedar pickets would avoid the warping problem?
The best video in the world. So easy. I have two old tanks that are out of date. I have emptied both tanks. Now remove the valves and toss them in the landfill. Our landfill will not accept tanks with valves installed.
If you added a third turpentine or mineral spirits you wouldnt have to warm it and you would get the same results as the solvent evaporates away on the wood
I have a ridgid chop that I gotta replace
Bought my dad 1 last Christmas, he loves it. I researched and it seemed the best quality for the money & came with battery & charger.
How long before using them do you store your pickets in your shop?
These would see like crazy in my area if I’d only seen this video in April. Being June I’ve missed the window but I’ll be ready next season.
The shipping in original packaging is an Amazon cost savings measure. Many times you have to specifically select Amazon packaging.
Hey I just wanted to thank you for your video I went out and used old bamboo flooring I was gonna throw away and built two planters out of them and sold them for 120$ in 4 days 😊
Nice! That sounds like it would be a good material for raised beds/planters.
Thank you, Sir!
Everyone is selling planters on FB now. Thank you, youtube 😂
How do you level planar bed
In this video I made, I show how to do that. 4 Tips to Eliminate ALL Snipe in Thickness Planers and th-cam.com/video/PtvsqGAnCaU/w-d-xo.html
I use a lot of cedar pickets for projects with my carpentry students, usually pay about $3.60 at a local store. What are they charging you for the AC2 pickets? (6 footers). We get a lot of requests for various planter boxes, I use pallet wood and cedar most of the time.
Here AC2 pickets are about $1.68 each currently.
Don’t forget to check your state’s laws before collecting sales taxes. Acting on behalf of the Department of Revenue may require you to register or get special authority.
To clarify, I didn’t suggest collecting sales tax. I was saying that your total cost for materials includes the sales tax you paid. To estimate materials cost with list prices only, means that you are paying the sales tax for those materials out of your own pocket.
The woodworking field most likely knows the information, "apparently not all by the comments" and there's still a large group that sees green lumber and are gun shy about it. Which limits the customer base. Maybe make both and price accordingly. New sub!
Rough- thanks for sharing. About to start a 240’ fence with some slope and curve…. Never done it before but I’ve been watching a ton of videos to make it easier…. Green Wood Bad!!!
