DeepSky challenged me once again with a cool project. This time the launch of DeepSky Labs in Alberta CA. Full animation was created in Blender with amazing addons such as Geo-Scatter and Population. And some hero-trees were created inside of SpeedTree.

Nice video! What did you use to create the node preview images above the nodes? (around 13-14 minutes)
Just a question: How would you ideally bring all the fine detail of Gaea into a 3d-app? When I use rendertime displacement of the full resolution Heightmap, I am kind of blind in the viewport, because I only see a flat plane. When I use the mesher, I am missing all the finer details. Some render engines as Vray don't accept World Normals, which would potentially help. Ideally I would love to have some kind of difference map that I can displace on top of a viewport mesh. Any good ideas on that? Thanks in advance, Maarten!

These are some really good points you make. Search not working that well yet I can understand (it's tough), filter by ID can imagine is not too hard, but deciding to break backwards compatibility by changing the naming convention is huge. Have you tried reaching out to them? Sending them feedback. Some developers really care about this stuff, and need users to complain loudly enough so the marketing/managers team understands that they need to invest time on this. Please complain. Sometimes is not up to developers, but management. Make noise.

The shift from Quixel / unreal marketplace was catastrophic. Apparently, they need more time to get things ready. I lost my marketplace cart and I miss the reviews/ questions sections from the marketplace.

I've been selling on sketchfab without problems for years. Now on fab suddenly my models get sactioned for breaking the guidelines with out any specific reason (it was just a fantasy sword model). I appealed, but no reply. It's like on TH-cam now, but worse...

totally agree, fab is a huge UX downgrade comparing to bridge hilarious how much can you break a search and filter functionality, after it's beed researched countless times
Hi there, I want to buy your FULL mountain pack and maybe the Nordic one too, but I work in Unreal Engine and wanted to know if these mountains can be exported as FBX to UE5? I once followed a tutorial to create a mountain from a heightmap in Blender it was great but when I exported it as FBX it was just a plane (no height-data) with a texture. So can you clarify this before I make a purchase? Thanks.
@@ytabhigan the mountain packs contain an OBJ mesh which can be used in Unreal. And a satmap. But I recommend ofcourse setting up your landscape material using the masks provided.

I wonder what Quixel thinks of Fab. They spent years developing and refining their Bridge system and they get this half-assed mess of a marketplace that is Fab instead. I'm sure some devs must feel frustrated, we literally went back in time 10 years.

TH-cam knows this same thing happened to me a few hours ago, and It just showed me your video😅 . Abbey Crawford from Epic Games was rising the FAB hype this week at BCON24, nobody couldnt care less. I know they did It so everybody can sell more assets, but this need a total rethink/remake
I've sent them emails, DMs smoke signals. Lets hope the collective community complaints are heard...

This is so true. Firstly: Where the f are the filters and the categories. Secondly you cant find sh** what you want because of that. Thirdly the Unreal marketplace was specific for Unreal Engine users like me wich is was super easy to use AND it was in the Epic Games launcher, not in your browser or a stupid plugin. Thirdly the Megascans plugin in UE5 was/is so brilliant and easy to use, so why are they taking that away from us?

@@aeonbreak4728 only for local files but I can’t access other items. I have to now use fab to get them.
I don't know why, but bridge still works for me fine. I just click the green download button on the thumbnail of the model and it works, otherwise if I click it in the sidebar it wont let me download it, and gives me a popup telling me to choose a plan... Fab is currently trash, and I hope that they will somehow fix it.

Just because Bridge isn’t fully taken down yet it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t ring the alarm bells. There has been no communication on the timelines and since our livelihoods depend on it I think people who spent money on quixel deserve better than to be redirected to a product that barely works even as a marketplace.
Oh it’s baaaaad. Get why they made the change for small producers, but bad implementation. Sucks from a company that made an awesome plugin all those years ago.
Really hoping some changes are made soon! This is far from irreparable
