According to the service manual, the adhesive should be applied to the glass first.

Yea Safelite hates those extractors you’ll be fire on the spot if they see you using one

my favorite part is when the windshield gets replaced and covers the VIN number, so if the owner ever tries to move out of state and get the correct tags, they have to go to the State Highway Patrol to have a very specific VIN inspection done. It's literally 10 extra steps, make sure whoever replaces the windshield uses the correct glass and doesn't place the sealant where it covers the VIN.....

I remember doing a windshield on my 1983 Monte Carlo. Used aircraft throttle cable to cut it out, and that stuff cut like butter by hand.

Never attempt this as a DIY, its so hard to get it right even on economy cars with no sensors. I fucked up mine on a w169 A class where now there is not enough space for the roof trip to fit on the passanger side, and its by 3-4mm

Guys guys, I'm here to tell you, you don't have to replace the entire windshield on a hot day, you can just turn the ac on for a bit 😂

Why not just coldknife? I get down along the bottom on cars that have low hamging glass, where it can't reach, but by the time you set that machine up you could be done cutting.
