Same, I don't touch classics. pain in the butt, customers want perfection but want it done on the cheap.
I deal with theses classic car owners all the time. They have an unlimited budget on rims,paint job,drive train, motor, upholstery, but when it come to the glass they want it for dirt cheap, and nice and don't wanna pay the price.. I stay far away from these cars now 👍
How much do you need to start a windshield business?
Classic cars are far more difficult than modern cars. The owner of my company is the only one that still does them and I can tell you he’s booked up for six months and he charges a massive amount because nobody else does it. The knowledge base needed is insane.
Also classic car customers tend to be older and retired and a pain in the ass to deal with the constantly stop by the shop

I love the classic cars to place new glass in. butt the amount of work you have with the costumer is to much.
The new cars with all the ADAS systems it’s for driver safety but it makes or job more technical and the time it takes for the replacement a window with ADAS to a window without the tech is around 30min

Fuck a bunch of antique junk shit!! Been doing auto glass since 94 ive had my fair share. Oh yeah i still R&I all the body shop junk too. I think any R&I is worth $150.00 minimum, im in Chattanooga Tennessee area. Curious what y’all get for body shop R&I’s when ya have to make a second trip back to install in Jersey? Shop i work for only charges $125.00 tops and thats with me removing and reinstalling any interior even. Even if it’s a damn little vent glass! U should get paid for what you know not how long it takes. I enjoy your stuff, ya’ll raise hell n eat cornbread!!
