Mark Fisher - DOCH Lectures #1
มุมมอง 60K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Mark Fisher alias K-Punk has over the last decade established himself as an academic equivalent to Colonel Kurtz (Apocalypse Now) bringing together deep insides of popular music with psychoanalysis, political analysis and speculative fiction creating, what Sukhdev Sandhu names, an extraordinary body of rogue scholarship, a theory-rush with few parallels. In two three hour sessions, Mark Fisher ...

Poor Mark. He was smart but not smart enough to realise the obvious solution. Technology and alienation from nature and our intrinsic biochemical survival drivers is the cause of all our existential angst, no solution to the uncanny is possible without addressing the root cause. Heidegger and Wittgenstein gave it to him on a plate and led by example.

I wonder what Rorty would say about the woke lunacy, which is a degeneration of some of his relativistic ideas...

It is insane how prescient these observations are. I came back to this in 2017, and again today. It is prophetic.
Yes, especially the problems of globalism discussed in part 2 which I saw shortly after Trump was elected in 2016 … all this could have been avoided if both political parties considered the effect of globalism on workers.
Mark’s ideas make me feel like I’m not crazy. These lectures have changed how I view the world. Thank you, Mark
The young man who asked Mr. Rorry 'How can a God exist who controls the entire universe if not even information can travel faster than the speed of light?' seems to have forgotten---as explained in Inflation theory---that one thing we know CAN definitely travel faster than light: Spacetime itself. This could only be possible if information exists at various shall we say ranges of frequency, as do ULF, LF, hearing-rangw frequencies, HF, and UHF. Perhaps above in-spacetime velocities of causality exist an infinite number of hyper spacetime causal velocities. Perhaps the so-called "God" makes use of these to monitor what's going on.
Anyone know what the Hein (?) book is that he references around 30 mins in?
He is talking about "The Return of the Republic: Democracy, Power and the Case for Media Reform" by Dan Hind, published by Verso.
...Now that he's mentioned "The Warriors," I am re-thinking my previous statement: I now believe that we need to do better to incorporate the drive to change within all art.
Maybe...Music's done it all already...and has been accordingly co-opted by the establishment...Now it's up to the people...
It’s a spiritual crisis - drugs distractions and tools to numb. We are powerful beings when we learn just be and stop chasing.
I wish I could meet him😢
Stress is privatisated. Brilliant. And the part about oprah Winfrey was so on point.

I wish the person recording and organising these brilliant lectures had a better judgement as to when to stop his process of talking and thinking. He wasn't done with his elaboration on the subject at the end when he was asked to stop and it was an important moment.
He is needed today more than ever. Let us keep his thoughts and ideologies alive.
